Hey everyone, it's Deja with Knitting Crochet Ever After
and today we are making the half double triangle stitch pattern.
So this pattern is definitely reversible.
It has two distinct but similar sides.
So we are going to work this up. It's an easy two row pattern repeat.
The pattern is in the description along with the yarn
that I used for this one in case you like that.
As well as the hook that I'm using,
which is my Prim hook, which I love.
So, go download the pattern.
We'll get started, but don't forget to hit like and subscribe
so that you get all these free patterns right when they're released.
Alright, let's go.
Okay, so to begin our half double triangles,
we are going to do multiples of 2 plus 1.
So, whatever size width you'd like.
Do it in multiples of two and then add one more stitch
and then we'll begin row one.
I have thirteen here just to make it short and sweet.
We are going to skip that first chain
and we're going to do a single crochet in the
second chain from our hook as our first stitch.
Then we're going to do one more single crochet in the next stitch
and then we'll do our stitch
This is our stitch repeat, which is a chain one,
And then we're going to skip the next chain
and work a single crochet into the one after.
So just those two stitches of a chain one.
Skipping the next chain and I pull it apart
so I can see where I worked my previous chain
So that sometimes they'll get kind of scrunched up
because if you start pulling on your chains they bunch up together
So if you have that problem just pull them apart
so you can see them again
So that's the one I'm skipping
and I'm working into the one after so we continue that across
And make your chains a little bit bigger
so that it's stretching that whole stitch.
Don't make it like super tight because you're
also going to be working with them in round rows to come.
But it also keeps your work from bunching up.
You want to make it kind of the same length
as the chain that you're skipping.
We've got two stitches left.
Chain one, skip the second, and single crochet in that last stitch.
There's row one.
So now we're ready for row two.
Okay, so for row two, row two is actually the right side
of the project, and you'll see both sides look pretty good.
So it's not like one or the other is better,
but technically row two is your right side.
So we're going to start with a tall chain. I love my tall chains.
That takes the place of a chain two,
which would count as a half double crochet.
Instead, we're going to do the tall chain,
and then we're going to half double crochet in that stitch.
So that way, it's not...
All, you know, puny on that side.
If you do the chains, then you usually have a hole.
So adding the tall chain
and the half double crochet gives it more bulk.
And you can see my tall chain tutorial on my channel.
I have, and I use it all the time.
So you've probably seen it if you've seen any of my videos.
Then we're going to begin doing our triangles.
So our triangles are half double crochet two
together. So we're going to yarn over,
we're going to insert into that same stitch that we
just worked into. So we're combining two stitches.
So we're going to yarn over, pull up a loop,
then we're going to yarn over, we're going to skip that chain one,
and we're going to work into our next single crochet. So we're going to
Yarn over, pull up a loop, and then we're going to yarn over
and pull through all five loops to create our triangle
or our half double crochet two together.
Then we're going to chain one, again make it kind of big
because we're going to be working into that one actually coming up.
Then we do the same thing.
So we're going to yarn over, we're going
to go back into that stitch we just worked,
so kind of pull on it if you need to find it,
you can see that nice big hole there.
We're going to do our first half of our two together, yarn over,
go to our next single crochet and work the other half.
I feel like I only caught one loop there.
I'm going to redo.
Other loop. So see how I'm turning to find my other loop?
Here's my other loop. It's hiding from me right now.
Now I have both. Then we're gonna pull through all five loops.
So we're gonna continue that across
and do a little bit different on the end.
Okay, so here is the very last two together we're going to make.
So we are skipping that chain one, we have our single crochet here.
There's still one more stitch left at the very end,
so we're going to go together, we're
going to make that chain one,
and then we're going to half double crochet in that very
last stitch to finish it off.
If I can get it in.
Come on.
There we go.
Alright, and row two is made.
This is Ogo yarn. I forgot what the brand, which one it is.
I'll have to look.
But it's a pretty chunky yarn, so I'm using a L, I think.
Where's my... Yeah, an L hook,
so to be able to show the stitch definition better.
But this yarn is not the greatest to work with.
I have Ogo reviews if you want to see more on that.
I'm going to do that.
I'm not totally digging this one. It's a little splitty.
Alright, so for row three,
we are going to be doing mostly single crochets.
So we're going to turn, we're going to chain one, we're going
to single crochet into that half double crochet we just made.
Then, we're going to work into these chain spaces.
This is a little easier.
So we're going to be working,
and I'm going to work under that little line there.
And we're going to do a single crochet in the chain one.
We're kind of repeating the foundation chain just
a little, or the foundation
stitches, just working into it a little
differently. So we're going to chain one, we're going to skip
the half double two crochet together,
I think it's such a long stitch name,
the hdc two together, and work our next single crochet into that
chain one. So we're doing that across
to get set up for more triangles.
So again, chain 1, skip
the HDC 2 together, single crochet,
chain 1, chain 1 more, and
then single crochet in that last half double crochet.
Then we're, whoop, if we don't lose it, we'll be ready for row 4.
And row 4, and every row after, we are repeating rows 2 and 3.
So again, we tall chain.
And work a half double into that first stitch.
Just go over the instructions real quick again.
Then we're going to half double in that first stitch, or begin one.
We're going to skip that chain one
and go to our next single crochet right here.
Work into that and then put them together
with that really long HDC two together name
and continue that across.
So I'm going to work a couple more rows.
Follow the pattern that you downloaded
and then we'll come back and look at how it looks.
Okay I've finished another few rows
of the pattern repeat. So I did three
Three, um...
kind of sections of the triangles.
This is showing you kind of both sides so you can see the
difference. It is just slightly different,
it's like kind of the triangles go in different
directions. So if we're looking like at this one right here,
kind of out here, let's flip
Flip right to the same side and you kind of get like a three or four
Leaf looking kind of motif on this side.
So it's a little bit different a little bit more triangle here
a little bit more leafy on this side, but both sides are really pretty.
I like both sides.
I think this would be a really pretty shawl pattern stitch pattern
or scarf either or I would definitely use thinner yarn.
I wouldn't go this chunky and that'll even look prettier
with that thinner yarn. So that is the half double
Triangle stitch pattern. I am Deja.
