Hello, welcome back to talking Giants brought to you by Siki get his September 19 2025 an hour New York football Giants Owen to we're taking on the also Owen to Kansas City Chiefs Sunday night football home opener all buzzwords. That should kind of get you excited And I don't know. I'm excited to watch this football team because I think that there's an opportunity for them to win Against an Owen to Chiefs team. I do not think this Chiefs team looks very very good But the main thing I heard at work this week I'm sure a lot like you if you're outwardly a Giants fan you talk Giants you talk football with all your co-workers the main thing that I heard this week as People come up to me like, oh, what do you think about the Giants? What do you think about the Giants? You got to answer that a million times, which I love it But the main thing that you hear is as you say, oh, what do you think about Giants Chiefs this Sunday Sunday night football? You're like, oh, well, I think they have a shot I don't think the Chiefs look that good and the Giants just coming off a game where they scored a lot of points and Like there's there's answers that they may start to establish on offense, and I don't think the Chiefs have those same answers especially on their side of the ball and the main thing that you hear is oh There's no way no way that the NFL is gonna let the Chiefs fall to Owen three There's just no way and I I really do not think that way as a fan I really do not I think for the amount of time that I Spend on the NFL the amount of time that I spend on the Giants, you know, quote-unquote covering them if I and not for the investment the emotional investment I Kind of put on him if I thought that there was any kind of chance that the NFL no way that the NFL is gonna You know, you know to help, you know, they're gonna help determine an outcome I'd be like, oh that would drive me nuts. I would drive me nuts, but I also can't prove it So that's why I don't really think like that So that's like the main thing that I've heard this week Even my my one of my best friends in this world Nikki snacks Talked to him on the phone every day say the same thing to him I think the Giants could take care of businesses Sunday hands of Chiefs. No way The NFL is gonna let Chiefs fall to own three. I don't know. I don't think like that I think that's you know, what soft mentality soft mentality. Let's win a damn game When a damn game and I'm trying not to roll my eyes as I say that because we hype ourselves up every week We hype ourselves up every year just to be let down on a Sunday, but I think there's an opportunity I think this is an opportunity and The main the main difference though between these two teams Even if the Chiefs are compromised at Owen to and they haven't looked that good. They've played two good teams I think the Eagles even have their problems of their own, but they've played to two good teams and What the Chiefs do that the Giants do not do is The Chiefs haven't quote-unquote looked all that good or all that sexy or all that flashy really the last Two two and a half years they really have but they know how to win football games and that's the thing that's most worrisome The Kansas City Chiefs know how to win football games where even if things aren't going, right? They know how to put themselves in position to win football games They know how to not hurt themselves shoot themselves on the foot Andy Reid does a good job of putting his football teams and positions to win games Patrick Mahomes knows how to win games I cannot say the same thing If anything it is the exact opposite with the Giants where they did a very very good job multiple times on Sunday Losing that football game and allowing the Cowboys to come back in a game allowing the Cowboys to stay in the football game to begin with one that they were Dominating in the first half one that they should have been winning by ten points. So that's the difference between the two teams Now I'm gonna talk a lot about how I think the Chiefs offense can be had and I don't think they have a lot of answers and Maybe the way that they're playing right now isn't very sustainable But regardless the Chiefs know how to win They find ways to win and the Giants do not the Giants find ways to find ways to lose So that's at the top and as I was doing You know just general stat work and prep for this. I was kind of a Kind of found it to be pretty funny how similarly these two teams are to each other right now through the first two weeks of The year the Giants offense is 15th in EPA per play the Chiefs offense is 16th in EPA per play Giants are 13th in EPA per class pass and the Chiefs are 14th The Giants are 26 in the run game. The Chiefs are 27th So everything on offense is separated by one spot on the defensive side of the ball The Chiefs are 26 in EPA per play and the Giants are 28th and even in defensive EPA per play The Chiefs are 23rd against the pass. The Giants are 25th against the run against the pass The Chiefs are 30th against the run. The Giants are 31st against the run. So both of these teams Are very very similar and this even includes like if you want to even break it down to Pass blocking composite rankings the Chiefs offensive line of the Giants offensive line are right next to each other around mid-pack even even like a Niche ranking like that. These two teams are right next to each other. So a pretty well even balanced matchup through the first two weeks of the season for both of these teams and I will say like even though I think The Chargers and The Eagles are two better teams that the that the Chiefs have played as opposed to the commanders and the Cowboys I would like those are still four good offenses like the Giants haven't had any breaks, especially on the defensive side of the ball But let's talk about the Chiefs offensively now to start the year. The thing that's most noteworthy to me is Mahomes is trying to expand the field a little bit more and throw the ball down the field Through the first two games his average depth of target is eight and a half yards that's two yards more than what he's averaged over the last two years an Eight and a half average depth of target eight and a half yards would be the highest since 2020 for Patrick Mahomes I think probably that is the main reason why his completion rate is so low at fifty eight point eight percent Fifty eight point eight percent completion rate for Patrick Holmes of the first two games Mahomes every single year of his career has had a completion rate of Sixty-five point nine percent or higher as a starter the Chiefs identity over the last few years has been We are going to stay on schedule We are going to dink and dunk and churn out these four to nine yard plays And if I were a betting man, I would infer that I think the Chiefs are going to try and get back to that kind of death by a thousand cuts offense as They look to get things moving as an offense, so let's talk about who the Chiefs have been offensively Through the last couple years, but specifically 2024 because there's there's the first two games and what they've done But I honestly think as offense has not overall hasn't looked too pretty for them I think they're gonna want to try and get back to what they've done in 2024 in 2023 and I have done a lot of work like I actually did a video over on JM football about the Chiefs identity and Despite them not being all that explosive They've been able to be like inevitable Like I I think the the way that the Chiefs have been able to operate on offense almost doesn't make sense You're waiting for it to cool off and it has cooled off to the first two weeks of this year But you've been waiting over the last two years for it to cool off and it kind of just hasn't So I didn't make a video on over on JM football that came out I think like two or three weeks ago talking about the the Chiefs offensive identity And how that's gone for them over the last couple years. So if you want to check that out It's a quick 9-10 minute video. I thought I did a good job of laying her all out there through the first two months of the season in 2024 the Kansas City Chiefs led the league in run plays between 4 to 9 yards They ended the year 7th in that area But when you include passing plays, they were second in the league in total plays between 4 to 9 yards They were an offense that stayed on schedule and they did it really well without relying on explosives And if you look at total plays of 20 plus yards, they were 27th in the league That's kind of crazy for a team that did win 15 games and made the Super Bowl in a loaded a of seed They ran a lot of plays. That's what the Chiefs are known for doing over the last two years They run a lot of plays. They're number one in plays per drive They were last year number one in time of possession bird drive They are an offense or at least was and I think they're gonna try and get back to it this weekend They are a death by a thousand cuts offense And that makes me nervous if Shane Bowen is going to provide so much cushion and cover one That he runs 40% of the time over the first two weeks of the season if he's gonna provide all this cushion you know and I did at least appreciate his self-reflection as The coaches were speaking, you know coordinators speak on Thursdays, you know, he's like, yeah I kind of regret, you know, not playing tighter not playing cornerbacks I already I would even say more than corners the safeties not playing those safeties tighter to the line of scrimmage He says that he kind of regrets that so hopefully that's something that Changes a little bit because if the Giants gave a lot of cushion and if you are and you should be afraid you should You should be afraid of Mahomes his arm Hollywood Brown is a fast receiver Taekwon Thornton is averaging a lot of yards per reception this year, even though he has Only four receptions on the year. He's been targeted nine times He has a hundred yards his 25 yards per reception right now is the most in the NFL He's leading the NFL in that regard and he also does have a touchdown so 49 yards is as long as catch on the air. So as Hollywood Brown 49 yards Xavier worthy has been limited with the shoulder injury. He missed week two He suffered that week one against the Chargers if you saw on Nash on on YouTube not even national television on that Friday night game in Brazil, so we'll save Xavier worthy plays But if he plays that's another guy that you do have to respect You at least have to respect Mahomes his ability and Mahomes his arm And then you also have to respect the speed that they have Taekwon Thornton has been like that guy that's kind of replacing Xavier worthy in that role Hollywood Brown could stretch the field as well But especially if worthy comes back They're gonna try and do that and they are trying to do that a little bit more this year But as they try and figure out what's going to work for them. I do think Getting back like how are we gonna help Mahomes out? Well, that's how let's have him stay on schedule. Let's throw it short Let's have these quick answers because if the Giants are going to give you room in the short part of the field because they're afraid of allowing the deep pass and the Chiefs are gonna take it and That's my theory for for this Sunday But let's talk a little bit more about the Chiefs of the first two weeks of the season the Chiefs on second and third down when ironically enough This is an area especially third down Patrick Mahomes has owned third down over the last couple years But second and third down Chiefs this year. They are averaging 3.3 yards per play that is tied for the second worst in the league But ironically enough on first down the Chiefs are fourth in the league in yards per play on first down. I Really do think The only good answer that the Chiefs offense has right now is Patrick Mahomes scrambling and running That's it Patrick Mahomes right now is leading the league in yards per attempt on the ground He has 13 attempts 123 yards and a touchdown There Isaiah Pacheco is having a bad year Barely, if it feels like I have him on my fans team feels like he's barely been on the field barely got any work Kareem hunt is the Rotational running back that comes in. I mean if you want to look at it from a rushing standpoint My homes does 13 attempts. We talked about him Kareem hunt has 13 attempts for 47 yards. Isaiah Pacheco is 15 attempts for 40s for 47 yards That's three point six yards per attempt and three point one yards per attempt respectively. That's not good But my home's nine point five yards per attempt is leading the league right now And it's kind of by a little bit of a wide margin. I feel like that's the only answer that they have on offense Hollywood Brown 15 catches for 129 yards. That's eight point six yards per reception. That's Wanda Robinson efficiency he is the short and intermediate answer Kelsey Juju Smith Schuster both have six catches Nobody else has more than five. I mentioned Taekwon Thornton four for a hundred. There's no There's no answers on this offense right now. They can't run the ball that well and it honestly feels like the only time that they're moving the chains is when Patrick Mahomes is scrambling and that's when their most positive Plays are coming on the offensive side of the ball if you give them the short part of the field I think this is a game where the Chiefs are inevitably going to take it. I really do So that's that man. That's that that's the Giants defense It's getting a lot harder to take Kavon Thibodeau off the field. You're not taking Brian Burns off the field so is Abdul Carter gonna be in this situation where hybrid edge rusher hybrid interior guy Do you put up dual Carter more more as an edge rusher and see if he can get after the quarterback that way? But all these guys are playing well Dexter Lawrence, I think it's still playing. Well This Chiefs offensive line is not especially in the interior. Not the same Creed Humphrey and Trey Smith. They're dudes. They're dogs But I think these tackles can be had Josh Simmons rookie left tackle. I think Juwan Taylor is back and fully practicing for them as the right tackle You want to talk about somebody that could be had yet Juwan Taylor knee injury full participant I want to talk about somebody that could be had One tail is not good Yeah, so that's the Chiefs offense I don't feel like there's good answers they're not running the ball well they're good on first down, but they have been awful on second and third down and that that plays into Giants Strikes right now as a defense that they've been averaged They've been decent on first down and they've been really bad on second and third down But I feel like if you if they if Shane Bowen is going to play soft Even if it's in man coverage He's gonna play soft and give Travis Kelsey the middle of the field Give Hollywood Brown the middle of the field. I Think Patrick Holmes is gonna death by a thousand cuts all day All night to this Giants defense So that's the Giants defense. It's not been fully on purpose But tailgates this year At this point, I'm sure you can guess they're not happening I think the main thing for tailgates as we've been as we've been talking as a company is, you know for it to fully be Worth it. We got to get it sold sponsorship wise and that did not happen Now I think there's a couple reasons for that But I think the main reason is There was a change at the head of sales at John boy media And this is something I think this is public. This is all public information our CEO posted on her Instagram all the time But we had a change of sales the change of the head of sales like door in the middle of the summer and I think it really Put a halt on certain things that were sold for the fall in the winter and whatnot. So Tailgates not happening this year. And also the other development of the other part of that is I At least as of now as of right now. I'm not going to Giants games, which Hurts me to say because it's I've told I've said it. It's my favorite thing in the world, but it's much more beneficial for my career as a You know content creator whatever the title role is It's a lot more beneficial for me to cover the game from home make videos make content and Do more like it at the end of the day. It's going to be more, you know from the stands There's only so much you can do and there is a different perspective that you get but also going live after the game, too I'm trying to go live, you know sooner and faster and get a reaction out there, especially as people are Excited and they want to talk about it. So I think we've done a good job going live after the game So I will not be joint going to Giants games this year, which sucks I Love seeing people there. I probably will go to at least one or two this year but early on I Won't be going That kind of sucks. I know people are disappointed about the tailgates. I'm disappointed by it too, but especially as You know the the role of what I do now is different Or, you know since since April I Think it's best that I cover the game the way that I do and I think it's working by the way, like I The James Hudson. There may be announcement there may be an announcement on Sunday or Monday about something that is good news and not bad news Good news, not bad news Let's go to the Giants offense against this Kansas City defense Let's talk about Steve spags. We know him familiar friend It's always I always love seeing him succeed man. If there was a Hall of Fame for Coordinators or if it was somewhat commonplace to put coordinators on Hall of Fame, I would put Steve spags in there without a doubt So the main thing about Steve spags is defense is that he it's he's gonna bring the pressure man It's a blitz heavy pressure oriented approach spags is one of the most aggressive play calls in the league He'll bring the heat from linebackers corners even safeties And I think one of the things he loves doing the most is simulated pressures Even if he sends four rushers, but he disguises who he's gonna bring which forces QB's to diagnose Pretty no pre snap who's coming and then post snap as well of trying to figure out Well who exactly is coming and where could I throw this ball? Where is there an opening? Can't cities pressure rate stays high even without like they don't have a lead edge rushers Even though I do like I do like George Karloff this and obviously you have Chris Jones and everything does kind of start out with So let's talk about Chris Jones because I think he really is the engine of this defense everything starts with Chris Jones as a disruptive Interior rusher, even though his production. I don't think he has a sack this year. I think he only has like one quarterback hit Drew Tranquil is leading the team in sacks with two through the first two weeks of the seasons This pass rush has not been able to really square off But they've also gone up against solid offensive lines, especially the Philadelphia Eagles We're all five are really good Joe Alts for the charges really held up nice We'll talk about Andrew Thomas in a second too, but yeah Chris Jones He's the engine the Chiefs are often gonna align him outside on passing downs to exploit mismatches This is something that I was a little afraid of When I thought that Marcus bow was gonna be the team's left tackle like Oh Chris Jones power hands experienced veteran going up against Marcus bow at left tackle like that's something that I would really trying to exploit but The best news for the Giants I think Dan Duggan is strongly indicating that Andrew Thomas may make his debut for this Sunday I I think this makes sense feels like he's been ramping up for a couple weeks now Versus like wash we were talking about Washington. Is he gonna play is he gonna play? He's like, well, he's barely even practice So now he is going to Dan Duggan's indicating that he's gonna play and this is all on the back of the Giants Aren't having a full padded practice this week there Everything is shells or you know, you're kind of not full pads. So Take that with a little bit of grain of salt, too But it does kind of feel like he would be ready feels like it's been about a month where he's been practicing somewhat consistently so No matter how long Andrew Thomas is in the lineup for it in he is here I think it will inevitably boost the offensive line, especially the passing game. I'm really curious to see what he looks like I think that's priority number one and if the performance is up to a standard Even if he's not awesome, and even if he's not kick-ass the first week Then you're willing to cut him a little bit of a break because of the Liz Frank injury and we know how you know I kind of broke down a couple weeks ago how serious that is and especially especially for tackles Like if a guard suffered it I wouldn't really Put too much into it But the fact that he's got to push off that foot push off that foot you're putting so much pressure on your foot and it does impact You know kind of the power which you can push off your foot and your change of direction in that way change of direction It's important. I think it's important for your sets. Not necessarily It's not like you know You're juking somebody but I think launch being able to launch off your foot is important for an offensive line especially as a left tackle especially because of Who Andrew Thomas is as a player and how he wins he wins with his athleticism. So I really am Anxious to see what that looks like. Yeah, even if it's just one week and if he looks great, then awesome Hopefully he stays healthy and regardless of how long he's here He is going to boost up the pass blocking unit of the offensive line I still have very little faith that they can Run the ball so that is going to put pressure on the offensive line as a pass blocking unit And it will physically and metaphorically put pressure on Russell Wilson as well since there's no respect for the run game I think you're gonna get pass rushers that are selling out for the sack. It's like we have drew Tranquil We have Leo Chanel. We have Nick Bolton guys on the back end that are good solid run defenders and good linebackers So if you're at if you're an edge rusher if you're George Karl Loftus, and it's a first and ten second and seven sell out to go get to go get Russell Wilson on the ground and Have kind of a little bit of a faith that somebody on the Giants off its lines gonna **** up And I'm not gonna be able to run the ball that well, so That's the thing that sucks about not being able to run the ball Well, even though the Chiefs through the first two weeks of the season have not been a very good run defense They've also gone up against two better offensive lines and better run blocking units Chargers have a very good infrastructure for running the ball Eagles obviously have a very good infrastructure for running the ball. The Giants do not have that same infrastructure. So Even with Andrew Thomas coming back. I don't think it's gonna boost up the run game that much. So what do you do? I think you have to be Super aggressive or trying to be super aggressive With throwing the ball on the offensive side of the ball If the run game is going to be a zero you need to be relentless in your effort to test, Kansas City's Defenders if there if it if there is matchups that you feel like you could take advantage of I'm not saying whoa Malik neighbors is has got a safety over the top and he's got Trent McDuffie on top of him Yeah, let's give him a goal ball on the sideline where it's gonna get picked off. That's not It's not what I'm saying, but it's like yeah Well, you're throwing deep and you're doing what you have to do But if there are opportunities where Malik neighbors is one-on-one You kind of just have to take it kind of just have to take it if Darius Slayton as well It has his own 1v1. He can run a double move Just like he did last week it can possibly turn into a big play You have to let the Chiefs know even if it doesn't always work You have to let the Chiefs know that you're at least willing to try that ----. So they have to respect it. So ideally Ideally, it's the other stuff that sets up that is set up by it screening especially against an aggressive defense like the Kansas City Chiefs Screen game I think has to make a comeback to research Rick has talked a lot of a lot about it this week, too The screen game that we saw last year through the first two months of the season the screen game that we saw in the preseason Andrew Thomas comes back. He's athletic. He can go in space Screen game I feel like with came scataboo as a receiver and as a guy that gets yards after contact and broken tackles That's something that I would really like to see get moving and get picked up 100% and I think you have to do that With an aggressive defense now They have drew tranquil and I think the safeties are also good and they I feel like this Chiefs defense does a good job of Yes, they are aggressive But they also do not get caught with their pants down in that regard The safeties know that they have to be disciplined and they have to sniff out that stuff linebackers know that they have to be smart And sniff out that stuff. So they're good. They're good for a reason Spax has got these guys We'll coach for a reason though But I think you got to try it If they're giving if they're giving you a lot of cushion at the line if they're giving you 10 yards And it's a first and 10 there ain't nothing wrong with the seven yard out route There ain't nothing wrong with a little bit of a hitch that gives you five six seven yards and you stay on schedule on your Own end you almost do what the Chiefs but the Chiefs did what the Chiefs should do and what the Chiefs have done the last couple years Theo Johnson and Darius Slayton did a good job of being answers for Russell Wilson at certain points of the game last week Against Dallas that also has to continue Wanda Robson and Malik neighbors had Malik had had career days against the Dallas Cowboys, but how can other guys? How can you not be so Wandel and Malik neighbors dependent because that's not gonna happen every game They're not gonna have they're not both gonna have 100-yard games So, how can you make their targets about? quality and not quantity and I think that answer is Theo Johnson Darius Slayton and Working that screen game Have cans to have Kansas City has to have make them account for multiple things happening on the field That's what I think their key is. I Feel kind of okay, like I feel okay about this Giants offense going up against the Chiefs defense I don't think it's gonna be perfect But I think they did enough They put enough on film last week against Dallas that may think Kansas City think it's gonna force them to think twice about things that's what I hope and I hope it wasn't just Maddie before was being a dumbass and Steve spags looking at being like what the **** was he doing? We can defend that. What was he doing? over the Giants have answers if Can City Chiefs are going to? throw a curveball If the Kansas City Chiefs are going to adjust based on what worked for the Giants last week What are the Giants going to pivot to I hope they have that pivot mapped out Marked out planned out All right. Check out the affiliate link in our description if you want some Nike stuff All right, let's get to The touchdown draft because man what a week for the touchdowns last week now to reef to give a little bit of a refresher Danny behan and I and myself maybe somebody may be joining me soon But Danny behan good friend of mine always a diehard listener of talking Giants We do it we've been doing a touchdown draft for the last two weeks The rules are I'm looking you take the odds you draft the player for a touchdown draft you get their odds If I draft Xavier worthy this week, that'll be plus 125 if Xavier worthy scores a touchdown I get a hundred and twenty five points. So for Danny behan last week, he drafted Malik neighbors at plus 135 He scored two touchdowns. That's 270 for Danny behan He also picked drafted George Pickens at plus 165. So Danny behan on the season has a total of 630 all three of my players that I drafted last week Javante Williams at plus 115 Wanda Robinson at plus 360 and Kavante Turpin at plus 450 all scored a touchdown that brings my season total to one thousand one hundred and twenty five I went three for three last week. Holy ----. I should have parlayed that Not every game is gonna have a total of 77 combined points though So I take a little bit of a commanding lead on the touchdown draft so far this season Danny behan is one good game behind me though And the rules are the touchdown draft if you take one player Inside the top five of touchdown odds. You cannot take another player inside the top five So you have to have a unique lineup of three. So my first pick of the touchdown draft this week I will be drafting Travis Kelsey. He's at plus 140 Xavier-worthy and Isaiah Pacheco have odds that are worse Than him like they're more favorite to score a touchdown and Travis Kelsey and then Kareem hunt Travis Kelsey at plus 140 together I'll take Travis Kelsey at plus 140 So therefore I cannot draft any of those guys that I just named and also I cannot draft Malik neighbors at plus 145 I'm gonna go with time on Tracy at plus 205 to score Cam Scadaboo got the got the gold line touchdown last week And I think I don't know. I think a lot of people have been doing a lot of running with Towering Tracy's role and because maybe he was a little vocal about his opinions on the Giants offensive That means something about his about his role. I will say I Don't I don't consider like cam Scadaboo getting more carries last week as like an indictment on Tyrone Tracy status as rb1 or whatever But what is a little interesting is him returning kicks? That could be maybe maybe be viewed as a little bit of like a punishment It's that why is Devin Singletary not returning kicks? He's done it before in Houston But I think Tyrone Tracy at plus 205. I think they kind of I think they'll give him some goal line touches They'll give him the touchdown if the Giants get down there So Tyrone Tracy plus 205 after cam got it last week and the last guy I'm gonna take is Patrick Mahomes at plus 265 This isn't a passing.
