It’s a family training day in the Murph Squad home gym! For the first time in a while, I got to work out with both Collin and Gavin as we put our Landmark Athletics TC EXT 3 All in One Home Gym to work.
We were all able to train at the same time while Collin and Gavin did chest (flat and incline bench press as well as lower and upper cable flies) workout. And we added some OVR maximum-velocity testing. I trained biceps and triceps. Then Gavin finished the day with some Feed the Cats speed training as he continues to work on getting faster and preparing for football season.
Great quality father-and-son time—all without leaving home.

A father and his sons engage in a home gym workout session focused on strength and speed. The session includes testing peak velocity on the bench press, performing various chest and arm exercises, and concluding with outdoor speed and technique drills to improve athletic performance.
Get your max head in.
Thinking ain't nobody feel the way I do, but someone gotta feel the same.
On the bright side.
Yeah, this music here became my only lifeline.
Think I'm going crazy, I'm not in my right mind.
Welcome to my life, welcome to my life, yeah.
Welcome to my life, welcome to my...
Well, looky, looky, it's summertime and I got the boys.
We're going to do a little home gym workout.
The boys want to do some bench press.
I need to do some buys and tries.
We actually haven't tested the peak velocity lately, so we're going to try that.
We're kind of back and working out with the football team,
although Colin just got back to football from baseball,
so he's just kind of trying to get back into working out.
We'll see how much G-Man over here has progressed.
Get some warm-up in and then we'll test our peak velocity on bench.
Colin's getting a little warm-up in.
Colin's up first.
Peak velocity, 45 pounds.
I'm going to do a 3-second pause.
And then explode up!
1.36.
That's your average. The peak is 2.57.
Your best is a 2.74.
That was 2.57.
I think your average was a 1.58.
Yeah, that's what I had my phone at.
That was my best 1.57.
Yeah, that was your best, I think, on average.
Yeah, so you suck, basically, my turn.
Colin's going to give it a go again.
2.59.
Third rep.
1.35 average.
Your peak, that was 2.6.
That was actually a fast move.
Alright, Gavin's going.
Your bottom looked like it came up more.
Peak is 2.05.
And then 1.15, your average.
What was my average at?
2.15.
What did you get that time?
2.5.
Not a PR yet.
2.06.
Your average was less, but your peak was higher.
2.24.
Hey, new PR.
2.24.
Nice job.
Got the average jumped up 1.24.
Yeah.
Yeah, the average jumped up by a point.
Colin, let's see if you can get a PR here.
We think your best peak was a 7.4.
2.53.
2.56.
Come on, we've got to break that 7.4.
That's closer.
2.61.
I said put a 35 on it.
Done with the peak velocity for now.
Now we've got to move on to the reach press.
So, just take your arms out of the way.
What?
Right here.
Way weak.
Turn that in the arm.
Okay, pull downs, push downs.
1.35.
Yeah.
Come on, G, there you go.
Good.
Push.
Come on.
Yes, buddy.
That third rep.
Colin, open up the 1.55.
I didn't see that one.
Try it on the same weight, buddy.
What are you going to do next, Kevin?
That.
Same weight?
Yeah.
I'm not little like him.
Yeah, you're probably going to get wet.
Two at most, right?
One.
That's the OG speed.
This is season one episode, y'all.
Season one, episode two.
Oh, not quite.
Close, but no cigar.
I thought Henry was at school.
All right, 1.85 for Rilks.
Drive it up.
Drive it up, drive it up, drive it up, drive it up.
Get ready to spot.
Kevin, get it.
I'm helping, but you're going to have to push.
You got to do a little more, Kevin.
You could have got it.
You just wanted to give up because you're a punk.
Kevin, it was going down.
Yeah, I helped.
I was helping the whole time.
I was just making sure you could get it with me helping.
I was going to make you work for it.
He was working for it.
He wasn't working at all.
He wanted to just pick him up.
Since the boy didn't get one, it was 1.55.
Since the boy just fell on my backs.
Transition now to incline.
Adjusting the bars up.
Pick it up, bro.
You can borrow them.
You don't want to have this over my back.
You're borrowing them so far back, you can't bench on.
Move it up.
All right, it's fine.
You can move it.
I can't.
Yeah, you can.
Grab your bar.
Still can't.
This is going to be perfect.
That's perfect, yeah.
Can't go bicep curls in isolated.
It's in T-bones.
You can do some incline.
Don't touch your chest.
There you go.
It's not good.
Is that good?
Put that butt down.
Drive up.
There you go.
That's right.
Yeah.
Easy weep.
What did I say, bro?
We're going to come in while we're going.
I've got to hold my weight.
Put it down more.
Down more?
Yeah.
11 shows.
Okay, okay.
That's why you like JP.
I know you know what I'm talking about, bro.
I'm Chinese.
I work for him.
I like JP.
Six or eight.
I'm going to get behind you.
No.
Oh, that came down weird.
A little lower.
Put that butt down.
You're laying into a flat bed.
Keep your butt down.
Drop your chest.
There you go.
What happened to my hand?
My hand was underneath the bar.
Bench should be backed up.
It's too hard to rack it like that.
Do it the same way.
What if I fall?
It's fine.
Try not to put the weight on, bro.
Are you adding weight?
You bum.
How many reps did you get by yourself on the other set?
Five.
Throwing back out.
Yeah.
Are you trying to max out?
I'm just trying to get to the third or fourth.
You know what they say.
High intensity, low rep.
High quality, low quantity.
That's how you get chest like mine.
Look.
You don't got that.
You can't really bounce your chest.
I'm the OG bouncer.
You're not the OG bouncer.
You ain't got a tricep.
Get your max head in.
See if you can get three by yourself.
I can get three by myself.
Whether my butt's on the bench or not.
I don't think you can get three without your butt on the bench.
You don't think I can get three like this?
I promise you I care.
Let's not use bad form.
I'm not going to.
I promise you I care.
Can you get one with your butt on the bench?
Yeah.
Let's see.
I need help.
I don't care.
He's falling forward.
I need help.
You weren't helping.
The A was coming forward.
No, because it looked like it was still.
It was going that way.
I could have probably got it up, but it was going that way.
I'm not going to let that drop on my dog.
You didn't get three.
I didn't get three.
Hold on.
You said with my butt on the bench.
Last set?
Yeah, last set.
Third, finally.
There you go.
Easy weight.
Oh, yeah.
Inclining burnout is so much quicker.
Yeah.
When you hit the wall, you hit the wall.
Get some rope.
Last set, girl.
So, you're going on the flies now.
Or something.
Hold on.
Do some preacher curls.
Quit kicking me, bro.
You're not flattish.
Supposed to be coming down here.
That's what I was doing.
What are you talking about?
Your favorite feature about this bench.
Do preacher curls.
I didn't know I could do that.
Yeah.
It's also great if you want to drop that
while you're doing overhead extensions
or presses or something.
Have the head blocking the weight.
Do overhead extensions.
With this, do these.
Yeah, get that chest fly.
Last set.
Bust some flies.
Flex that chest.
I did the lower chest flies.
Now, I'm coming up.
I'm doing the upper chest flies.
Squeeze and build that chest.
Collin now getting that upper chest fly.
Build that chest.
Collin's still sporting that baseball tan.
Arms and neck.
See that chest popping?
Shoulders working too.
Come on.
It's always falling down.
Who's winning, the weight or you?
Me.
The weight is winning all of us.
There you go.
Slow and controlled.
Fight.
I'm about to wrap this workout up.
I'm done with buys and tries.
They have one more set of this.

We're probably going to go get
some speed work in.
Speed work in.
Feed the cats.
Bound, bound, bound, bound.
Pogo.
Felt good?
What do you think?
5'2".
5'1"?
Felt good.
Yeah, you look pretty good.
Almost the same.
5'1", 7".
Third and final run.
Not as fast on that one,
which that's usually the case.
You're usually not as fast
on the third one.
But we're continuing
to work on technique.
He was thinking about
trying to get his leg
a little bit straighter,
extended out in front,
and then stomping down
under the hip.
Trying to get his elbows
a little higher.
Just mechanics in general.
Trying to get a little bit better,
a little faster.
Still a good day.
Productive day.
Good workout.
Good run.
All right, guys.
We're going to keep working.
We'll catch you in the next vlog.
Subscribe.
My man, Murr Squad.
