Hey guys, so in today's video I'm doing a Deltarune fan art
and I played the game recently and I really wasn't expecting to like it as
much as I did but I found the characters to be
incredibly charming and I loved the art style of the whole thing
and I thought I absolutely have to do a fan art because
it was just such a good game it was just it literally blew my expectations out
the water like I wasn't expecting it to be this good.
So yeah I'm very excited to be showing you guys this fan art
and also I don't know if any of you will remember because
it is from three years ago on my channel but three years ago I did an Undertale
fan art on my channel although I will be honest with you and
say that I hadn't actually played the game at that point
I just wanted to do a fan art because I really liked how the characters looked
but I hadn't played Undertale so I did the mistake of leaving out Asgore
from the drawing which a lot of people pointed out
they're like where's Asgore and I was like Asgore because I didn't actually
really know who Asgore was at that point like I'd played through probably
the first hour of Undertale so I was still in the ruins
and I hadn't gotten out so I didn't really know of many of the characters
so this time around having actually played the game and having actually now
known what the characters are like I feel like it helped me in terms of
creating my fan art because I knew what each of the characters
like mannerisms and their personalities were like so it didn't feel
like such a struggle to put them together in an image because I
knew how they would interact with each other if that makes
sense I also didn't want to make it as boring composition wise as my old
Undertale piece I wanted it to be a little bit
interesting so I thought of a good setting would be
the place they walk through with all the funky looking trees
I thought that would be really fun to do as a background
and I also wanted to have lots of cards flying around in the background because
obviously cards are like a common theme in
Deltarune if you guys haven't played through it yet and you're thinking what
the hell is Deltarune? Deltarune is I was about to say
it's not a sequel Toby Fox confirmed it's
not a sequel it's not a prequel either it is essentially an alternate universe
in fact I will actually read out exactly what he said about it
he said what you're seeing here is not the world of Undertale
and that Undertale's world and ending are the same as however you left them
so obviously that points towards it being an alternate universe
so it was weird playing through the game I don't want to give you any spoilers
this isn't really a spoiler but when you talk to Undyne in the town
she doesn't know anything about Alphys like she doesn't even know who
Alphys is so it is kind of strange and there's lots of things that contradict
the original Undertale and when Toby Fox said that it was an
alternate universe that made kind of a lot of sense because
there were a lot of things that didn't make sense originally in my head and I
was like wait what what's going on what is this it's like
Undertale but slightly different but yeah it's really really good and you
should definitely play it I think I actually like the music
more than the original Undertale game because there are some really good songs
in there like Lance's theme is a bop every time that
comes on I just want to dance it's literally so
good so I definitely recommend if you haven't
even played the game yet definitely listen through the soundtrack and the
game is free to play if you go to deltarune.com
you can download it there and you can play it and it's that
easy so if you've got some free time please play it it's so good
and yeah it'll give you a little bit of context for this drawing as well
and originally I started drawing this in Krita I did
the sketch in Krita because Krita is a really really nice
pencil kind of brush and I haven't ever been able to recreate it in Paint or
but I love that brush so much and it's amazing for sketching so I knew I was
going to start the sketch out in Krita but as it got moved further on to like
the painterly kind of style that I like to do
I knew I'd have to switch back to Paint or because
I always go back to Paint or for that I do love Krita but Paint or
is just a lot better for anything painterly
so yeah and I wanted to make sure the composition was nice
and I also had stuff in the foreground this time around as well
so I put in some grass just to make it look like it had a little bit more depth
and yeah oh and another thing I did this time
because this actually came from a cinematography class I got inspiration
from because our lecturer was talking about
how sometimes in films they'll make sure that the camera is at an
angle and it's sort of tilted and that gives
like a really nice composition but it also
makes the viewer of the film feel a bit like
anxious or like feel like it's gonna be like a dramatic moment because it's
tilted and I thought maybe if I tilt it tilted
them and the floor I guess that it would give it
a more interesting composition and I actually ended up really liking
how it was looking so I did keep that in and as time went on
I just kept cropping it more and more and more until it was
just them and the tree because it was originally a much bigger piece but
then I was like that's gonna be too ambitious and there's way too much
drawing to do in that so I kind of cropped it down but my
favorite character to draw out of all of them I thought it would be Lancer but
when it came to the coloring part it was definitely Rouse
Rouse, Rousei, it was definitely Rousei for me
because Rousei is really adorable and is a really cute character and very
fun to paint I thought I would struggle because
Rousei is fully black and I thought I would find it really hard
to shade him so in the end I decided to make him sort
of like a dark gray because then I could add like black
shading and lighter gray sort of highlights if that makes sense I
don't know but yeah basically it was very fun to
draw and they were all quite fun to draw actually I think if I had to choose a
favorite character it would be Susie because I hated her to begin with I was
like hey don't be that mean to Chris like
that's so not on and then as time went on I was like okay
Susie's growing on me I do like Susie so yeah probably my favorite character
and my favorite song well my favorite song isn't actually
the Lancer theme that's probably my second favorite
my favorite would probably be um a town called hometown because it's
just so cute and I really liked that part of the game
but yeah so other than this fan art talking about
other things um I will be having another drawing Rousei's
episode come up really soon and because it's episode 20 I've
mentioned this before I really wanted it to be
a special episode because I can't believe it's been going on for this long
and episode 20 is quite a special one to hit
so I thought something interesting to do
would be to redraw some of the old drawing Rousei's I've done before maybe
or just do a really special episode where I draw loads of
people's characters but that would be very time consuming so I don't know
if you were to pick two characters from old drawing Rousei's episodes
that you would like me to redraw in the next episode
then please let me know down below in the comments
I will actually put my old Undertale drawing at the end of this video
just so you can see like a comparison between that one and this Deltarune one
I've just finished because I think if you see them side by
side it is just so clear like how much my
drawing style has changed and also how much I really didn't know
about Undertale when I was drawing that original drawing
and when I put the final um sort of painting together for this
I found out this like 3d effect you can do in photoshop
I see artists do this sometimes where they have like a red and blue
like 3d effect I think it's no I think it's literally just called a
3d effect but basically I wanted to try and emulate that
and I've worked out how to do it in photoshop now so I put that on the
drawing and I was like damn that looks so much better now
and also a piece of advice I have for you if you are doing like a painting
is to mess around with the color balance at the end
because you can make it look so much better if you change
the sort of you up the blues or up the yellows
and it can just make a whole painting look so much better because sometimes
when you're painting you don't think to involve every single
color on the color wheel and not that you have to ever but
sometimes it is better to just alter it all
afterwards and it will make it look a lot better so
that's a piece of advice I have anyway I really hope you guys
enjoyed this painting sorry if I was a bit rambly
today but I really hope you enjoyed this video
and I'll see you again in the next episode of drawing your OCs
bye guys
