The fourth part of lesson 5 had two major parts, 味道 and 调料.
First two characters 味道 means taste, and second two characters 调料 means seasoning.
Starting first with the character 酸, it means a flavor, sour, which is referring to a taste.
And then we also have sweet, which in Chinese is 甜, 甜 means sweet, referring to flavor again.
Third term describing the taste is 苦, 苦 means bitter.
And here we have hot or spicy, which in Chinese is 辣, 辣 means hot or spicy when describing the taste or food.
And this character 咸 means salty, referring to food when there is too much salt.
And now we're talking about seasoning, starting with salt 盐. 盐 means salt,
and its pronunciation is very similar to 咸 salty, but 盐 means salt.
And the second term we have for the seasoning is 胡椒粉, which means pepper powder.
First two characters 胡椒 means pepper, while the third character 粉 means powder.
But the character 粉 can also mean color pink, it's just that here it means powder.
And here we have vinegar, in Chinese it is called 醋, 醋 means vinegar.
And these two characters here means soy sauce, 酱油, 酱油 soy sauce, 酱油.
And this one character is 油, which means oil, 油 oil.
Because 辣 was used to describe hot or spicy, 辣椒 actually means pepper or chili.
So 辣椒, pepper or chili, sometimes it can also mean chili sauce, 辣椒.
And here 葱 means green onion, 葱, 葱, green onion, 葱.
姜 means ginger, 姜, 姜, ginger, 姜.
