An award winning artist and a filmmaker who produced the Peabody award winning film "Human Harvest" just had their latest work "Eternal Spring" banned from China.
The artist, Guo Jingxiong or Daxiong, has won accolades in China and Europe for his work, including top honors at the 33rd annual Angouleme (ang-GOO-lem) International Comics Festival. In 2008 he was arrested in China because his art offended the Chinese Communist Party. Daxiong recently collaborated with filmmaker Jason Louftus (loft-iz)

An award-winning artist and a filmmaker who produced the Peabody award-winning film
Human Harvest just had their latest work, Eternal Spring, banned from China.
The artist Guo Jingxiong, or Da Xiong, has won accolades in China and Europe for his work,
including top honors at the 33rd annual Angulim International Comics Festival.
In 2008, he was arrested in China because his art offended the Chinese Communist Party.
Da Xiong recently collaborated with filmmaker Jason Loftus,
who was executive producer for the film Human Harvest, which was a Peabody award recipient in
2015. Together, they created a new movie called Eternal Spring, an animated documentary that
centers around the 2002 hijacking of broadcast TV stations in Changchun, China, by followers of the
spiritual practice Falun Gong, who were desperate to tell the world the truth after the CCP began a
brutal persecution on the practice. The movie premiered at the Thessaloniki Documentary
and later screened at the 2022 Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival,
where it was named the most popular film at the festival. In August, the film was announced to
be Canada's submission for the 95th Academy Awards for Best International Feature Film.
It is the first documentary film and first animated film ever submitted by Canada.
Da Xiong's films in the education sector have recently been banned by the CCP,
and Loftus is no stranger to having his work banned in China,
as Human Harvest explore the forced organ harvesting of prisoners of conscience by the CCP.
