BREAKING: Steelers make SNEAKY good signing... This is great | Pittsburgh Steelers News

Some breaking news the Pittsburgh Steelers have just made a sneaky good signing and following what has been a crazy past couple weeks including injuries to both their Carmen and Jamel Dean over the past couple of days the Steelers have just made a very interesting move signing name that has many fans very intrigued to break down exactly who they signed more importantly discuss what it means going forward for this team as they prepare for the game this upcoming Sunday but not only that we have a ton of other updates including fans talking about Joey Porter Junior's season debut for the Dallas Cowboys and things got crazy a lot to go over in this episode but before we get into it a very quick reminder to hit that subscribe button you guys have been absolute beasts of support and it truly means the world to me every single day let's dive right into it folks so the Steelers have signed linebacker Marte Mapu to the practice squad and this dropped about an hour ago I want to wait and see you know if there are any other subsequent moves here but this is actually quite the interesting signing now we know a few days ago the Steelers hosted a bunch of tryouts right you can see here some of the other names miles battle with Marte Mapu being number two so they've made their first move out of this tryout so they must have liked what they saw there back on Saturday or Friday I'm surrounding Marte Mapu and I like this move honestly we know and just to be clear bigger moves are coming for this team they're obviously getting a linebacker here they're gonna need to get more defensive players you're without Jamel Dean you're without Derek Harmon for at the very least the next two games Harmon probably four games or more they need to get more depth and you can see here the moves come after the Steelers struggle to tackle in the week for loss of the Browns folks they missed 17 tackles on that game on on Thursday was absolutely brutal like Wilson had a rough game Queen Cole Holcomb and we think back in it was Friday where Mapu you know worked out with them they're just trying to get any depth any you know individuals that can actually tackle and it's good to see you know it's been a really really rough couple years here for Omar Khan but at least he continues to make some decent depth signings actually do think Mapu is probably the right name to go here and he was a third round pick back in 2023 initially drafted by the Patriots and actually played a lot of any NFL games given kind of the the echelon of player he was also hurt right so he was signed by the Texans after a trade and then was waived in late August with an injury so the Texans and let's keep in mind Texas have one of the best defenses historically at least over the past few years in the NFL struggled mightily this year but he's healthy now and is set to land in the Steel City he's a small school product who stood out at the Senior Bowl in 2023 he's measured in at six foot three two hundred twenty one pounds and yeah I'm excited I am very very excited to see what he can bring not again and if you watch these videos this isn't a massive massive right this is not one that's going to completely change or make or break do or die the Steelers season because at the end of the day here this is a very small piece and a much bigger puzzle that this team has to has to figure out what it does do is add some more depth to the team and I do think a pretty big trade here is going to be on the horizon or a signing of some sort because like I just mentioned which Maldini but I want to dive into Marte Mapu and what he'll actually bring to this team you know going for and kind of bring you to this team a little bit more before we do on calcium you can trade yes or no whether or not you think the Steelers will make the playoffs you trade twenty five dollars you can win over ninety dollars that's how bad the odds have gotten for the Steelers because they have been plummeting only a twenty seven percent chance to make the playoffs you do all this on calcium and this video is of course brought to you by calcium where you're trading directly against other users not the house like traditional sports books and on calcium you're buying yes or no contracts the outcome of events across sports politics even the weather you can trade on a plethora of things so make sure to check out calcium if you're interested in trying it out use the link in the description down below and the pin comment of course and use code digest NFL to get fifty five dollars added to your account instantly when you trade your first twenty five that is fifty five dollars added to your account instantly when you trade your first twenty five so make sure to check out calcium the link will be in the pin comment in the description down below thank you once again calcium for sponsoring this video make sure to of course check them out I want to dive into the pre draft report from Steelers Depot here surrounding Mapu so the Patriots under former head coach Bill Belichick drafted him high anyway taking him at number seventy six overall in twenty twenty three he was a highly talented prospect in his three seasons he saw forty four games started ten of them eighty nine tackles half a sack twelve passes defended three picks and five fours fumbles in eight hundred and ten career defensive snaps Mapu graded out as a at a sixty four point six overall from pro football focus which you know not great not bad I'm gonna I'm gonna hold off now and hold off my comments but he played five hundred and eighty three snaps in New England and finished with a grade of sixty six point five overall he had sixteen total tackles on special teams so again he didn't have fantastic fantastic advanced analytics but look at this like in his second year he short safety he or you know he played forty four games and started ten of them so at the end of the day here this is a guy who's been around he's been around right and he's played some games obviously strong safety in twenty twenty four which is kind of you know intriguing to me linebacker on the other two years mainly a special teams guy especially in twenty twenty five but it's not last year literally played seventeen games this is somebody who has played a ton of NFL games and that's why I think it's actually interesting and you look at his college stats and stuff he was pretty darn good as a hybrid player coming out of Sacramento State State he wore a number of hats defensively in his eight hundred ten snaps this is interesting so we saw three hundred eighty six snaps in the box two hundred and twenty seven snaps at free safety one hundred and thirty or one hundred twenty three snaps in the slot and thirty seven snaps a quarter I think one of the reasons he was went out excuse me and got my poop he can play a ton of different positions right and for a team like this deal if you're dealing with Jalen Ramsey and his broken wrist you're dealing with injuries across the board the inability to tackle he can go out and fill in a lot of different spots if they elevate him from the practice squad let's say for Sunday if injuries happen or someone's not performing he can step in and this is somebody who was a highly touted pick just a few years ago and the Steelers have space on their practice squad with just fifteen players so there's no corresponding move needed to add Mappu we'll see what else the Steelers have in store this week from a personnel perspective but the Mappu addition is an intriguing one and I completely agree with that more moves are absolutely coming folks don't get me wrong one hundred percent whether it's you know signing some more guys from the tryouts that they had whether it's trading for some whether it's offensive line help which is something that they need now they also need defensive help wide receiving of this team is so flawed as funny as it sounds they need to figure it out so let me know down below what your thoughts are because you look ahead now to Sunday we can see here there's a lot of discourse online I want you guys leave your comments about Aaron Rodgers and kind of getting in the pockets you can see here's clip pretty much sums up how timid Rodgers is in the pocket these days he has Roman Wilson open over the middle but starts to feel the pressure from the stunting linebacker throws it at the feet of Friar Muth and tries to avoid the big hit and it is a bit of a problem he isn't nearly as comfortable isn't nearly as mobile as he was in obviously previous years Green Bay but even last year right like the problem he doesn't trust his offensive line and he's not going to be a quarterback who scrambles has any mobility and you kind of need that at the NFL level so it's a little bit scary but comment down below on a scale of 1 to 10 your concern level for Mr. Aaron Rodgers and as we look at some of the other stuff I mean Stephen a Smith is coming out here and blasting Omar Khan you can see here don't think you're getting off the hook I'm trying to figure out as a GM for the Steelers what the hell this man has done they had the third oldest roster in the NFL you remember Omar Khan was raved because he had traded that brother Chase Claypool years ago to Chicago he had a second round pick for it he used it on who Joey Porter jr. and now he's gone and people are livid it's Stephen a Smith blasting Omar Khan it's James Harrison former Steeler blasting Omar Khan people are livid you have Jalen Ramsey posting on his Instagram story praising Joey Porter jr. which I don't think is a big deal because they're obviously great friends Steelers are in a horrible spot not like we've been to horrible spot for years now really but they're especially rough spot now it's coming down below where your thoughts are in all this folks lots of videos coming in crazy crazy time right now to be a Steelers fan thank you guys for watching see you later Cheers
