The Steelers have a BIG problem...
Oct 15, 2026
There is one glaring issue right now
for the Pittsburgh Steelers coming off of their third
victory of the year against the Indianapolis Colts.
They did end up beating the Colts 34 to 22,
but coming out of the game, there's a lot
of positives that you can point to,
but there's one major negative that we're
going to really focus on here today,
and that's the wide receiver room.
We've got two major injuries to the wide receiver two
and wide receiver three coming into the year.
So I want to talk about the wide receiver and
kind of just the overall receiving threats
that we have left on the team and two possible
signing targets and two possible trade targets
that the Steelers could possibly go out and try
to do if they want to replenish that wide receiver room
but hopefully you guys are having a great
Monday before we get into all that once you want
to remind you guys of course to subscribe to the
channel it's been really it's been a blast
to share all these different videos with all of you
guys with you know from Nick
and I to share all these videos with you guys we got you guys on
injury reports, latest updates, just latest news,
quotes, possible, you know, trade targets like
today, possible signing targets, rumors,
everything that you could possibly think of here at Steelers
Digest. So make sure you subscribe
and of course hit that notification bell as well. All right,
we got two major injuries to the wide receiver room and this one,
not as surprising. Obviously
he was on a stroller on Wednesday,
but Michael Pittman Jr. is on IR and he'll be out for,
out through at least the bye week.
So he's going to be out for around a month for an extended period
of time. Not great. Obviously,
he wasn't doing a whole lot on the field. But again, like I mentioned
at the top of the show, he was the wide receiver two coming
into the year. If he stays healthy,
he's not been healthy in the slightest so far this season.
If he stays healthy, I think he's able,
he would be able to actually, you know, have some momentum,
start playing well. We didn't really see
that, but we're not going to see it for another month.
And then during the game against the Colts,
Roman Wilson got hurt. He's expected to miss
a couple of weeks due to a finger injury. I believe
he dislocated his finger on his only target of the game.
It was late in that second, in that first
half and that second quarter and dislocated it.
And it seemed like he's going to be out for a
couple of weeks. Again, still gathering info.
He's seeking a second opinion, but right now it
seems like he's going to be kind of on the same timeline
as Michael Pittman in terms of being out
for around a month, maybe a couple of weeks could be two weeks,
could be three weeks. It's hard to
say, but nonetheless, Michael Pittman and Roman Wilson,
they're both going to be out for at least
next week, and they're going to be out
for an extended period of time. Should the Steelers
make a move? Should they sign a guy?
Should they trade for a guy? Well, this is the current,
you know, these are not the wide receivers.
This is the receiving threat currently on the Steelers.
You see Roman Wilson there at the bottom.
That's Nolan Boyd. Again, got hurt on his only target,
but these five guys if the Steelers don't
do anything are going to be the people working in
I mean I guess you want to count Ben Skoranek
also got hurt as well he's in that conversation
as well but I think this is going to be these are going
to be kind of the five guys that you can
expect uh at least you know until Michael Pittman
and Roman Wilson are back Jalen Warren what an
awesome game what a dynamic player what
a three you know three week run he's having if he keeps
playing like this the Steelers might not even need to do anything
because he's been so awesome
he's been so transformative to the offense what he can bring
on the ground in the air everything
that you really ask for out of a running back he's been able to do it
so obviously 87 yards
led the way 80 of that was off one play
but it was so explosive got the Steelers a lead the lead
that they I don't think I don't think they uh relinquished
for the rest of the game he's been
amazing and he keeps doing that honestly
this entire conversation could be just null and void
because Jaylen Warren has been awesome
but for the actual receiving room Jerry Bernard played
awesome uh career game up until this point 80 yards
on six catches love to see that love to
also see Pat Freiermuth getting
the end zone twice really really do love to see that and then
Darnell Washington 12 yards DK Metcalf
also 12 yards i'm curious before we get into you know
possible moves that the Steelers could make.
I'm curious what you guys think about if the Steelers
keep how it is right now. Throw in Ben Skoranek,
throw in Brayden Smith, throw in Eli Heidenreich,
Caden Weijan. Maybe they want to go that way.
Again, this is who I think is going to be your
main guys. Do we like it? Do we not like it?
I'm torn, honestly. It worked against Indianapolis,
but I think they should maybe go get a move.
I think maybe they should go make a move. Again,
you do have Ben Skoranek as well, dealt with an injury,
but if he comes back, that could be a
solid option, but then he would have to be your wide receiver three.
So before we get into possible
targets for the Steelers, if they want to go down that way,
I want to talk about our sponsor for
today. And that of course is Kalshi.
On Kalshi, you're trading against other bettors, not against
the house, like other sports books that you might think of.
You're buying yes or no contracts on
things like sports, politics, the weather,
and you can trade on this upcoming game on Sunday,
the Steelers against the Buccaneers.
I was surprised when I was pulling this up.
Steelers only have a 59% chance of winning, according to Kalshi.
Considering the Bucs
have Jalen Daniels, I know they're just coming off a win,
but they are 1-4, so this feels a
tight. So if you do want to trade on the Steelers
to beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, you can trade
$25 and get yourself nearly $42.
If you're interested in trying out Kalshi at all, use the
code in the description, pin comment,
and use code DIGESTNFL, and you'll get $55 added to your
account instantly after you trade your first 25.
Again, that's code is DIGESTNFL. All right,
let's get into some of these options.
We're going to start with the signings, and then we're going
get into the trades.
Number one, who seems like he's getting ready to come back to the NFL,
it's Tyreek Hill. This one is interesting.
Obviously, he's not really going to have the
speed, and it seems like the Kansas City
is really going to make a shot at him, but the
Steelers could possibly take a shot at him as well.
Like I mentioned, he's not going to have
the speed, but he brings a threat
that I don't think you really have on the team. You have your
big body outside receiver.
You have kind of more your Z receiver in Jeremy Bernard, but you don't
think you can have anyone that can take the top off the defense
because Tyreek, even though he
slowed down, is still amazingly fast in this age.
That's just Tyreek. He's one of the fastest
players to ever play in the history of the NFL.
So I think this is something I could possibly
think of. Let me know what you think about it,
but Tyreek's an interesting option. And then
someone that the Steelers have nearly got in the past is Gabe Davis.
Kind of has bounced around
the league, went to Jacksonville after his tenure with Buffalo,
didn't really end well,
has dealt with injuries, a lot of injuries.
But in that Buffalo tenure, he was pretty dang solid,
especially in the beginning of this decade.
I can remember, I believe he had three, four touchdowns
in that AFC Championship game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
He was awesome. And the Steelers
nearly signed him a few years ago. So this is an option.
I talked about Tyreek being more of that
burner. Gabe Davis would fall in line more in that DK Metcalf mold.
But again, just a name,
someone out there, let me know what you guys
think about Gabe Davis. Let's talk about two
trade targets. Both these trade targets come from really bad teams.
One's 0-5, one is 1-4.
This first one, not going to happen this week, right?
Because we play them. But I think Tampa
would be open to possibly trading Chris Godwin.
He's not really done a whole lot. They have other
options on the team. If there's a time to trade them,
if Tampa keeps falling down and they keep
losing, knock on wood for their game against Pittsburgh,
but if they do keep losing, they
might be looking to trade Chris Godwin.
I think this would be an awesome veteran, depending on
the cost, an awesome veteran for the Steelers
to bring in just for a little bit. You can use draft
capital and literally just only have him for the rest of the year,
but I think throwing in a guy
like Chris Godwin as a wide receiver three would, it can't hurt, right?
Again, depends on the trade
back. It depends on what the Buccaneers are asking for.
If they're asking for too much, then no. But
if they're asking for a day three, sixth rounder,
fifth rounder, you could definitely think about
pulling the trigger on that. Let's end on this last one.
From an 0-5 team, could the Chargers
trade Quinton Johnston?
It's kind of the same problem with Gabe Davis in terms of you already
have that kind of similar archetype in the receiving room.
But QJ is still young. He's
shown flashes with Los Angeles.
And even more so than Tampa, LA might be ready to start selling
because they're 0-5 and that offense looks bad, looks really bad.
And if they do trade away a
receiver, you would imagine it would probably be Quentin Johnson.
Would they go after Quentin
Johnson? I think Quentin Johnson would probably command,
understandably, more than a Chris
Godwin would, I think just off age alone.
But the Steelers, if they wanted to go trade for a guy,
this could be a long-term option that they maybe could look at.
Would they go after this? Probably
not because I think they want more of a short-term thing.
But who thought the Chargers were going to
be 0-5, right? So it's a possibility.
But through all of those names or really any other name that
you guys can think of, because there definitely
are other names out there that the Steelers can
look at, maybe fit the Steelers better than
those names that I showed right there. But let me know
what you guys think. Should the Steelers stay put,
stick with the guys they got, or should they go
and try to get someone either signing or trade?
And if they go try to get someone, who do you
think they've got? Who do you guys think they
should try to go get? But that's going to do it
for today's episode. Hope you guys have a great rest of your day.
I know this video is coming out
on a Tuesday. So hope you guys have a great rest of your day.
We'll see you guys very, very soon.
