Bills Suffer MULTIPLE Injuries... Here's What We Know | Buffalo Bills News
Sep 30, 2026
Multiple Bills players are banged up after yesterday's ugly win versus the Los Angeles Chargers.
And it could have major implications on the Bills season going forward.
So today, we'll be taking a look at how these injuries occurred and what we know as of right now.
Plus, we'll take a look at the AFC picture now that the dust has settled on Week 3 across the NFL.
So, welcome in everybody to Bills Digest.

And guys, happy Victory Monday to all of you out there in Bills Mafia, wherever you may be.
You know I've got this shirt on after yesterday's win, but man, it was not a pretty win for the Buffalo Bills.
Nothing like their first two wins to the season.
In fact, it was a complete role reversal with the offense trying to do everything it felt like they could to throw the game.
And the defense being the ones that kept us in check in this game.
But, I want to hear from you guys right off the bat.
Usually I save this for the end, but I want to get a pulse check on what you guys are feeling one day after this Bills win.
Do you feel good? Is this still a Super Bowl level team?
Or, do you feel bad and you think after yesterday's performance there is no chance that this team has a shot to win the Super Bowl?
Or maybe you feel somewhere in between. Let me know down in the comments what you guys think.
And yesterday, I'm not going to lie, I was very, very frustrated after this win.
And I was feeling very down on this team.
I said yesterday that I felt like this was more of a Chargers loss than it was a Bills win.
But now, 24 hours later, with time to sleep on it and reflect on it, I am feeling a little bit better.
And part of that has to do with a quote that I saw from Ed Oliver.
He said this about the Bills team today.
Or yesterday, excuse me.
He said, Josh had to carry us for the first two weeks.
And maybe every now and again the defense might have to step up.
At some point, maybe we both start clicking at the same time.
Then, we'll really have something to talk about.
And because, look, yesterday was definitely the defense's time to shine.
Because the offense turned over the ball five times.
And yet, somehow, the defense held the Chargers to only 16 points.
Which is crazy to think about.
So, massive shout out to Jim Leonard in particular.
Because throughout the first two weeks, he was catching a lot of heat.
31 points allowed in back-to-back games.
And people were starting to say, maybe Jim Leonard wasn't the right guy to be the defensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills.
People were saying, if the Bills are going to lose games, it's because their defense is going to falter.
That was a complete role reversal yesterday.
Because it was the offense that faltered.
And the defense that stepped up for the Bills.
And let's just go ahead and take a look at what this defense did off of these five Bills turnovers.
They had, on the Cook fumble, they allowed a touchdown.
They were still getting warmed up.
The first Josh interception held the Chargers to a field goal.
The second one, the Chargers missed the field goal that they held them to.
The Kincaid fumble, they ended up punting.
And then the last one there, you see at the bottom, the Josh fumble.
They got the C.J. Garner-Johnson interception off of that one.
And I mean, this Bills defense was firing on all cylinders today.
And a big part of that was because of Greg Rousseau.
Who has been playing phenomenally for the Bills throughout the first three games.
Let's just go ahead and take a look at some of what he has done so far this year.
The number that stands out to everybody, those six total sacks.
First in the NFL by two whole sacks over Will Anderson.
I mean, he's just on an unreal pace.
Twenty-three total pressures, which is first in the NFL.
Eight QB hits, also first in the NFL.
Three forced fumbles, first in the NFL.
A 25.5% pass rush win rate, first in the NFL.
And he's also top five in the NFL in tackles for a loss at eight.
I mean, Greg Rousseau is just off to a phenomenal start to his 2026 campaign.
And that leads me into the sponsor of today's video, which is Calshi.
And on Calshi, you're trading directly against other users.
Not the house, like traditional sports books.
You're buying yes or no contracts on the outcome of events across sports, politics, or even the weather.
For example, on Calshi right now, you know I've got to give a shout to my guy Greg Rousseau.
We were just talking about him.
And this is the defensive player of the year odds heading into week four now.
Will Anderson Jr. still at top.
You got Aiden Hutchinson.
But Greg Rousseau is rapidly rising up to 10% chance to win defensive player of the year.
And it's only going to go up if he continues at this pace.
And look, so you want to get on this while you can.
And if you place $25 on Greg Rousseau right now to win defensive player of the year,
and he does indeed end up winning defensive player of the year, you could win $238 in return.
That's pretty good.
So if you are interested in trying out Calshi, use the link in the description.

Thank you once again to Calshi for sponsoring today's video.
And now that we've talked and reflected on yesterday's win,
let's go ahead and take a look at some of the major injuries that a few Bills players sustained in this game.
Starting, of course, with Christian Benford who was injured, I believe, in the third quarter of this game.
He had a non-contact toe injury and people were a little bit concerned.
This is what we know about Christian Benford's injury right now.
It was a toe sprain is the speculation at the moment.
He did have a toe sprain last year, forced him to miss one game.
But he did not return in this contest.
And after the game, he was seen in a walking boot coming off of the field.
You can see it there in his walking boot.
And I think that after Christian Benford got injured,
this Bill's secondary really started to take form and take shape more so than when he was in the game.
Because look, Christian Benford has not been great to start the 2026 year.
It's been well chronicled through the first two games.
He was just getting torched by receivers like Nico Collins and Amon Ross St. Brown.
He just did not look like the number one cornerback in this offense.
And after he got injured, it was Davison Igbenosin, the rookie, that came in in his place.
And of course, the Chargers targeted him right away after Benford got hurt.
They targeted Quinton Johnston, but Igbenosin was ready for action.
And he had the pass breakup perfectly ripping it out of the hands of Quinton Johnston.
So I was very impressed by Davison Igbenosin and his performance in this game after Christian Benford went out with his injury.
But this is something that we will have to monitor here throughout the week leading up to week four.
How is Christian Benford doing?
But if Davison Igbenosin plays as well as he did in the second half of yesterday's game,
maybe the conversation will start to be, maybe Davison Igbenosin is a better fit than Christian Benford.
Because like I said, Christian Benford not impressive so far through the first three games, even without the injury.
But we will keep an eye on this one.
And then the second one is one that we obviously have to talk about.
That being what is going on with Josh Allen's knee.
Because he took this brutal hit that you can see here on the screen in the fourth quarter of yesterday's game.
You can see that left knee popping out.
The knee is not supposed to bend like that.
Allen did complete the game.
He stayed in the game.
He still got his rushing touchdowns.
So what is going on with Josh Allen's knee?
This is what we know at the moment.
This is all speculation from Twitter doctors.
So take from that what you will.
But he took a helmet to the knee with 9.46 left in the fourth.
He grimaced.
And he did have one more designed run on the next drive.
So he was still playing.
He was still running.
He was still using his legs as Josh Allen does.
But afterwards in postgame, he was limping.
He was leaning on his right leg during the postgame locker room meetup.
He had a painful step back in the locker room.
And the prevailing thought as of right now is that it is just a knee contusion and not too much of a big deal.
But it could be worse.
He could have an MCL sprain.
He could have an ACL sprain.
Hopefully not.
I wouldn't think that he would have one if he stayed in the game.
But worst case scenario, we're looking at a Jackson Dart type injury here for Josh Allen.
I don't think that is what this is.
I think that he will be fine.
I think he will be out there for Week 4.
Josh Allen is not the type of player to miss games.
I think he has the longest active streak of starts in the entire NFL.
This is a guy that does not get injured.
And if he is injured, he is still playing in this game.
So that's the two main injuries from today that were sustained.
Or from yesterday that were sustained.
But I do want to give a shout to a few guys that did play in yesterday's game that were injured leading up to this game.
First, of course, being DJ Moore.
We didn't know if he was going to play.
He was in there for 6 catches, 67 yards.
So it looks like DJ Moore is okay.
Clearly, Josh Allen's most trusted wide receiver.
Keon did have a big catch to set up a touchdown in the first half to go into the game tied at halftime.
Ed Oliver was in there.
He didn't make much of an impact, but he was playing most of the game.
And then, of course, Ty Johnson I want to give a quick shout out to.
It was great to have him back.
As I said, the Bills love him on 3rd and 4th down.
And he did make that impact on 4th down when the game was on the line.
He caught a Josh Allen pass, took it for a touchdown.
That got brought back the touchdown, but the 4th down conversion still stood.
So great to see all of those guys back in action this week.
And real quick, I just want to take a look at how the rest of the AFC is looking real quick.
Because there are still 3 teams remaining undefeated in the AFC.
1, of course, being the Bills.
2 being the Chiefs.
Not that much of a surprise.
But then the Raiders there at number 3.
And those 2 teams are going to match up head to head next week.
So one of those 2 teams will have to fall.
And then on the Bills side of things, we've got the Patriots coming to town.
And look, say what you will about the Bills offense yesterday.
At least they weren't as bad as Drake May and the Patriots.
I am very much so looking forward to Week 4 against the Patriots.
I've been looking forward to this week since the start of the season.
And we'll have a ton of Patriots content coming your way this week.
So keep it right here on Bills Digest for more of that.
Thanks for watching, as always.
And, of course, Go Bills!
