A DAY in LIFE of Remote Product manager for USA Company

Good morning everybody. What's happening? I will take you guys from here to welcome to my kitchen. My morning has been, my morning routine has been messed up a little bit. What? But if you don't know, I'm in India and I'm going to be here for two months. But I'm here for work and some wedding and my events that are happening as well. But this is my airbnb for next two months and let me first show you around. Look at this beautiful view. I mean there's nothing beautiful about it but it's a view. That's Kandivali for anybody who's in Mumbai Kandivali area. I'll tell you all the details about the airbnb but I know the day is about my life, my remote life as a product manager, product manager but let's continue. Okay so for those of you who don't know, I am a senior product manager at a fintech company. I've been working in United States for more than eight years now and I've been a hiring manager for more than six years. On this channel we help international students to settle, succeed, be successful in United States essentially and today I wanted to share my day in the life but then also I'm in India and this is like a vlog-ish style video. Alright so let's start with number one that why am I starting my day so late. It's like 10 30 a.m because my team, I work for a company which is in central time zone Chicago but most of my team is in east coast so we I start my day around 6 37 which is roughly nine o'clock their time and that goes until like 2 30 to 3 30 so that has been my normal schedule and so I sleep around 4 and I wake up around 10. So seven to eight hours of 10 10 30 so seven to eight hours of sleep and yeah that's why I start my day so late. What I'm doing right now is just checking on some of the emails. We had a release last night so I was just checking to make sure everything went okay. I'm checking all the slack messages and making sure like nothing broke in terms of release because after every release I as a product manager I have to send out a communication to the list of stakeholders that hey this is the release these are the features that we released then I also send out like a user guide that hey here is the new feature here's how you use it. Now if you think about like a startup I am doing multiple things. I'm doing a project manager role, I'm doing a product manager role, I'm also doing a product marketing manager role because in a typical company like these will be three different roles. My job would be to make sure the feature is getting done and then project manager would do the communication and the product marketing manager would do all the user guide and making sure the users are aware of like the feature and all of that and then I also send out the code to my boss and the CEO and CTO and all of them. So I was just checking that everything looks good I'm gonna draft the email work on that for a min for like 30 minutes or so. So while I'm working on project management side of things I wanted to talk about the common question that I often get asked which certification program should I do to become a project manager. Let's let's uh let's let's this is the entrance my airbnb these are the elevators this is the hall that's my setup this is where I do my meetings and filming and all of it we'll get to it in a minute and the kitchen is right here it's all messy because brother there's no like stuff to cook they've only given this and we brought I had my coffee machine so I had I brought this from my house and that's pretty much the kitchen setup nice thing is they did give washing machine so we can wash our clothes so it's all messy right now because we've been ordering food outside which has also messed up my diet I do actually go to my family's house we will show you that as well my mom and my parents I mean they stay about five minutes on Activa and 10 minutes walking from this apartment why did we book separately one we wanted to book like a bigger one and two my parents home is still like one bedroom so I wouldn't have space to do this setup over there plus I have to work from nine to like more sorry evening 6 a.m 6 p.m to 3 a.m so it was impossible for us to do all of this so this airbnb costed me $500 for one month and then I'm staying for two months so it was roughly thousand dollars but for two months and it comes with a maid who does all the cleaning and all but the only disadvantage is no stuff so I can't cook I still can make chai and coffee and maggi and all of that on that stuff this airbnb does have two bathrooms so again this was the hall here is a bathroom number one for anybody who goes and then there's a bedroom which is nice over right here where you saw the beginning shot of me waking up so I just woke up from here it's a nice size bedroom it comes with two of these which is where we put all of our stuff the bedroom does have an ac so it was nice and then there's a bathroom number two and that's pretty much it that's the airbnb it's also one bedroom just like my parents house is pretty much the same size but now you know that I can't film and work like morning 3 a.m so I had to book a separate one initially the plan was to just book a bigger airbnb so all of us could stay together but my parents are coming back with me to America so we thought like let's not spend a lot of money so there's just not going to be enough time for me to enjoy the airbnb so we just decided to settle on this one so that's airbnb now back to my day so it's about five o'clock right now and as you know that there's a wedding season I'm here for wedding as well we have like three or four wedding and my brother is like we are dancing in the thing and he's supposed to be here any minute I think he's here already come come welcome you wanna say hi to my vlog such a fake so you're gonna dance yes what song I'm dancing for ek kuwara from masti song and then another song is so it is Dipesh is one of his best friends wedding and we are invited because he's family friend so I'm an audience in this case but I'm just enjoying so ready the best choreographer oh all right so I'm busy with my meetings now we have a town hall and there's a bunch of like team meetings and I'll kind of walk you through all the different types of meetings one second I have this you know opportunity to do some extra work so I'm gonna like prepare some reports for next sprint that we're gonna start and then I also during this time I also try to film some content so you'll see both of them but for now I'm gonna work on some project management stuff like I said in my role I do all three roles like project management program management and product management and also product marketing a little bit as well so for now I'm going to be focusing on project management get stuff ready for my team for next sprint
