AI GeneratedReports suggest five Toronto Blue Jays players may not return next season as the team faces a critical off-season. The focus is on overhauling the offense and improving rotation reliability, with decisions based on player versatility, health, and contract costs.
So big news to go over today is ahead of what's going to be one
of the most critical off-seasons in recent memory for the Blue Jays.
Some new reports have started to fly revealing five Jays
who won't be back next season.
We're going to break down these new reports, these new updates,
and discuss what they mean going forward and how they alter.
Ross Atkins' plan this off-season is, folks, there are a lot
of changes that are going to and need to happen for this team,
as well as a few other fun updates to go over today.
But before we get into it all, thank you guys
for your continued support and also happy Thanksgiving.
it's a uh it's a very very fun time
of the year obviously it's unfortunate the jays aren't in the
playoffs but thank you guys for all the support
the entire year i'm thankful for that and hopefully
you guys are enjoying you know your thanksgiving
your families or whoever you celebrate with folks
let's dive right into i want to dive right like right
into the action today um five jays who
won't be back now new article dropped
from sports illustrated as well as a few other sources and
let's just start with the first one it's kind
of the elephant in the room and that is george
springer so george springer obviously is coming off
of a very interesting year um up and down
I mean, if you could finish with 15 home runs, 54 RBIs, a 726 OPS.
The article basically goes
on to talk about how George Springer, despite loving Toronto,
they might need to replace him
because of his kind of lack of lack of versatility at
this point.
Now, also, as I go through each one of these,
I want you guys to leave comments about who
you agree with, who you disagree with.
Of course, we're going to it's a fun little exercise in that front.
But the article basically talks about this, right?
Saying that the expiring deal creates a DH opening
to which they can go out and actually
get other guys and kind of potentially upgrade offensively
um his second half improvement
complicates it because he did end up being
a decent you know throughout the second half of the
year but any replacement must add offensive value
and this is where i want to ask you guys where do
you guys currently feel surrounding George Springer
because on one hand he's a fan favorite um and he
might retire as well which is a part of it um he's
a fan favorite finished with you know like a one
more it wasn't a great season for him
um but what he does bring is a veteran you know clubhouse
veteran leadership at the same time
though i'm kind of of the mindset it might be time to move
on because he loves Toronto but i think
with this team you may need to get a better DH like a better
offensive DH or at least bring somebody
in who can help now at the same time um Springer said
he loves this place he's thankful to be here
um and he loves Toronto right so we all know that's
kind of always going to be the case i don't think it
was ever about him not loving Toronto but where
do you guys kind of feel how do you guys feel about
the uh about the George Springer potential
of him leaving because again he's weighing between
retirement between you know not retirement he got
emotional thinking about it towards the end of the season
so i don't think George Springer is
going to return to the team he's probably
the most polarizing name that is going to be gone
just because he's been around for five plus years
and we all love him but i think you need to open
up more versatility offensively more importantly just improve overhaul
the team's offense a little
bit right and i think that's the beginning
of it will be potentially George Springer leaving so
Comment down below what your thoughts are on that.
You might think I'm crazy.
You might agree with each one.
The second one the article talks about is Mr. Maximus Scherzer.
So he talks about Max Scherzer here and the potential of him leaving.
Now let's start with Max Scherzer by prefacing saying
that he said he's going to make the decision
about playing next year later in the offseason.
So we're not going to hear about Max Scherzer for a while.
Now, we might hear some rumblings from Mitch Bannon
and some reporters and kind of hear
some things about who who may be interested in him if he does return.
i think if he does return to baseball
the jays might actually give him another chance i mean he
looked not great last year but he
also didn't like he wasn't bad either right it was it was a weird
season for him he finished with a 5.74 ERA like it
was not a great ERA by any means but he actually
looked okay towards the end of the season now
the jays i think have to be careful about this right
because they desperately need reliability out
of the out of the starting rotation we think about
last year and how many arms they had compared
to how many arms they finished with like you need
reliability and we're gonna have another starting
pitcher right after this in Shane Bieber but you
definitely need reliability for talking about you know innings
and that's why I thought bringing
Kevin Gausman back and I still think bringing
Kevin Gausman back will be a very solid decision
like I think that's one that makes a lot of sense
for the Toronto Blue Jays whereas Max Scherzer
can you rely on his health is it going
to be a heavily incentive you know kind of related uh
related obviously so we can look at one
of his best starts of the year he finished with seven
innings and one earned run we remember that it
was his strongest start of the year he still got
it the question is do the jays want to actually give it
to him right like his velo's down a little
bit 92.9 miles an hour i'm gonna see some
of the advanced analytics here so comment down
below what your thoughts are on mr max scherzer legendary career
of course do you guys think he
should return to the blue jays should
the blue jays let him go i think at this point it's probably
best to hey let him go in exchange for some other names
because at the end of the day folks
they have a lot of work to do and um a lot a lot
of work to now in the same vein another name that
was brought up in this article
is mr shane bieber now he didn't play a ton last year finished with
55 innings pitched finished with a 4.37 era i like
the idea of bringing shane bieber back now the
reason obviously the article talks about
and kind of dives into the fact that we obviously know
right it's price dependent he's hurt coming off
tommy john uh they traded for him a couple years
ago he opted into the player option i i think
at this point i'm fine with bringing him back i think
with a full off season of health
and if he's not kind of relied on as someone who needs to throw
150 innings he's still a very effective pitcher
Is he the pitcher he used to be? No, he is not, but
if you can get him for cheap and ultimately a lot
of these end up being price dependent like even
George Springer, I think for the right price you
could bring back, but people kind of talk about
all over the place here. This is from Johnny, I want
the record to show that I want Shane Bieber back
in this ball club if the price is right
and I don't necessarily disagree, um, I really don't, I
think with the way that this team has kind
of constructed its rotation, you have Dylan Cease
you have Cody Ponce, you have Travis Savage outside
of that we're going to have to wait and see like
his burritos is going to be a factor
do you bring Shane Bieber back? Because I'm sure there's some
names I'm forgetting as well I don't hate what I saw
from Shane Bieber last year, right? He has a
multi-pitch mix looked really really solid
at times looked really really rough at times, but
the rotation health is going to be the biggest kind
of thing here, right? We look at the injured
list last year and it goes even beyond this, but from Bieber
to Cease to Barrios to Ponce and these
are just and there's way more than this that happened
but this is kind of end the year, right
Rudy Martin too, which is funny, Jameson Taillon
Patrick Corbin, Jonathan Clase, who actually
looked really solid in his few games Addison
Berger missed the whole year, Santander is not
mentioned here, there's
so many guys that got injured, um, hopefully Cody Ponce with his torn
Achilles I believe it was or ACL
Achilles, whatever, we're gonna ACL, he he's gonna be back
right? Hopefully he's going to be good.
Are they going to bring Patrick Corbin back? Probably not.
Do they bring Tyone back? There's a chance there,
but I think there's a very, very strong case to
be made for, you know, Bieber.
And I think you would have to be very confident in his medical
kind of position. The contract will have to be pretty cheap
and you also have to have enough
depth elsewhere to potentially cover some
of his missteps. But if all those things line up,
I think you're fine with that, with bringing him back.
Now, a couple other names I want to
kind of hammer out quickly let's start with Shane
or Patrick Corbin obviously played you know pitch
80 innings last year there's
no world where he's back 5.51 ERA maybe they bring him back as
like a spring training invite
but he is also 37 turning 38 years old so I'm going to brush by him
I don't think he's back Jameson Tyone actually
look pretty comfortable in the Jays uniform I
think there is a chance
that Mr. Jameson Tyone potentially comes back he wasn't disastrous
this team needs to shoot higher
though right they need to get a big time starter they need to
hopefully bring back Shane Bieber
then you need to add a bunch of bats I actually feel fairly
confident in the starting rotation but not have to go
and bring a bunch of guys like Tyone like
Corbin when I'm talking about bringing
these guys back he only has like potential minor league deals
like have some depth down there
because they needed it this year and the final one that I
think is I mean there's also you know Paul Sewald
and Spencer Arrighetti and Arrighetti is obviously
not going to like leave but he could be in triple
a most of the year there is one name and that is
Davis Schneider i think there is a very real chance
that Davis Schneider um either gets traded
gets DFA'd to something like that he's coming off
a really rough year they're struggling to find
places to put him in they're struggling
to find areas where they can actually get use out of Davis
Schneider and i mean we look at some of his stats we look
at kind of the way things have have gone
he's obviously mainly a pull hitter i don't know
folks i mean like obviously comparing him to George
Springer doesn't really make a ton of sense
but I just wanted to bring this up because like you
know like these are both two guys that are probably going
to leave and it's because they're disappointing
seasons last year and the Jays offensive
or offseason priority you need guys more dependable
you need guys who can actually hit
for more power guys you can play in the starting lineup every day
so comment down below what your thoughts are on this folks
who should Toronto bring back out of
George Springer Shane Bieber Paul Seawald
if you want to throw him in there Davis Schneider
at the end of the day do you think they should
bring Schneider back if you leave them let me
know down below thank you guys for watching
