This Can SAVE Aaron Glenn...
Nov 8, 2026
Can save Aaron Glenn at two and six.
The noise has never been louder for Aaron Glenn's job.
And nobody expects the Jets to come into Arrowhead Stadium tomorrow
and come out victorious.
But the Jets do get a key impact player
and rookie star David Bailey back, as well as
running back Breece Hall.
And if the Jets can somehow keep things competitive
and pull out a victory, that will completely
flip the narrative of both this season.
And Aaron Glenn's job security.
What's going on, guys?
I'm Josh Byrne.
You're tuned into Jets Digest.
Guys, thank you so much for all the support for me
and Chris Gallagher's daily Jets updates.
And we all know it.
It's a dire situation for this organization
and specifically for Aaron Glenn.
Because, frankly, I have no confidence in him.
You probably have no confidence in him.
How could you?
He is 5-20 as a Jets head coach.
And the team's defense that he took over the play calling for,
that he admitted was his superpower coming into this season,
has fallen off a cliff in recent weeks.
So it's suffice to say that Aaron Glenn needs a statement win.
It feels like at this point any win that he can get
is a statement win considering he's only had
five as the Jets head coach
and he's coming off three consecutive losses. You know the Jets started
this season one and three and while I don't think anybody
was satisfied with that there were serious
signs of encouragement.
I mean the offense was playing better, the defense was top half in the league
It still is, by the way.
But if you look at recent weeks,
It's just been extremely disappointing to see this defense fall off
because the offense has continued to produce,
as you can see from last week's box score,
in which they put up 38, excuse me, 33 points.
And did not win the game.
They scored on their first six possessions the Jets offense did.
The first time they did that since Brett Favre
was the quarterback for the team back in 2008.
And yet, just like they have all year
and just like they have ever since Aaron Glenn took over,
the team found a way to lose football games.
And that's been the primary wrench in Aaron Glenn's tenure
and why people want to see him gone
and don't believe he is the guy for this franchise.
Because despite any tangible progress that we're seeing on the field,
the results in the win and loss column,
the most important results remain the same.
They're finding ways to lose,
and the moral victories are not a sufficient indicator
that Aaron Glenn can take this franchise where it needs to go.
Glenn acknowledged that. He said,
I can sit here and talk about how close we are,
but that's not going to do us any good at all.
We've got to improve to make sure that we get on that side,
on the other side of that.

It's time to set yourself up for success because that's the Otis Edge.
And it's time for Aaron Glenn to set himself up for success
because he hasn't had much in a while.
And I posted a video earlier this week about the prospect
of the Jets trading DeMario Davis veteran linebacker.
And while it would hurt to see him go because he's such a great leader.
At this point, it's trending in that direction.
And I don't think DeMario necessarily wants to be traded.
Why?
Well, for starters, he still has faith in Aaron Glenn.
He said, what I like about his leadership is he hasn't wavered.
He hasn't flinched.
He's been the same guy every day.
I believe in him.
The guys believe in him.
And the Jets need to believe in him
because they are getting a major test on Sunday against
the Chiefs.
That's an understatement.
When we look at the standings right now,
The playoffs are all but out of the question.
The team, as said, they've lost three games in a row.
They're two and six.
At this point in time, as sad as it is,
what you're looking for is to get to that maybe five, six, seven number
because that's what it's going to take.
The Jets have almost no chance of making the playoffs.
I mean, they need to obviously win four games
in a row just to get back to 500.
And I think the question always was,
how much improved is this Jets going to be in the win-loss column?
And to what extent will it take for them to retain Aaron Glenn?
Obviously, last year they won three games.
They went 3-14.
So coming into this season, you're thinking, well, maybe, you know,
You know, as long as they win.
Six, seven games, that should be enough.
Well, now the problem is, is despite all the encouraging signs
and the clear talent improvement on this team,
they are not necessarily looking like they're going
to significantly improve the record.
We know watching this team,
it's clear that they're more talented than last year,
but they need to start winning some games.
So even though the playoffs are a long shot,
Aaron Glenn still has a shot to get to that six or seven win number.
But he's got to start doing it now, and it doesn't get any easier.
The schedule really gets tough.
I mean, the Jets just lost two games
on their schedule that were more winnable
than many of the other ones, and they didn't execute.
And that's why Aaron Glenn is in deep trouble here.
And when we look at the Chiefs, it all comes down to Patrick Mahomes.
We know that.
It's always about Patrick Mahomes when you face the Chiefs,
one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time already.
And if we look,
at the statistics of Patrick Mahomes versus the Jets.
The last time he played them was back in 2023.
If you remember, that was a, I believe, a Sunday night football game
in which Zach Wilson went off.
And I think that there was, I don't remember who said it,
but someone provided a controversial statement.
Kind of downplaying Zach Wilson's game that night,
and I was super excited as a fan because he played well,
but the Jets lost, of course.
And Patrick Mahomes threw for 203 yards and a touchdown.
Didn't exactly light it up, but the guy just finds ways to win.
And you look at his numbers over the past couple years,
and they've kind of trended downwards.
But again, outside of last season where they missed the playoffs,
they continue to win.
And yeah, they've lost two straight games this year.
They're still 5-2.
And.
They're going to be hungry to avenge
that really tough loss they took last week to the Denver Broncos.
You look at what he's done.
First four games, averaged slightly more passing yards,
nothing too substantial.
Last three games, he's only averaged one passing touchdown a game.
Again, that is a significant dip.
But the offense kind of posted a more impressive performance last week,
going in to Denver, arguably the toughest place to play,
and putting up over 20 points against
a really talented Broncos defense.
Now, when you look at the Jets defense,
They were dealing with some major injuries
and I haven't used that as an excuse because
I mean it was really just one injury right David Bailey
and David Bailey is the key
guys it all really comes down to him not that he's the savior
and that everything's going to
be sunshine and rainbows now that he is back
but if you look at the Jets injury report this week
it does reflect the fact that David Bailey has
been a limited participant
participant in practice, excuse me, as well as Joseph Osai.
So not only will the Jets be getting their top pass rusher
and arguably their best player on defense
for this week back into the lineup,
but they will also
be likely getting some depth behind him in Joseph Osai.
I like what I've seen out of Nathaniel Lynn.
I think he's earned a spot for the rest of the season on this team.
Obviously, Braden McGregor is out for the full year
after tearing his pectoral muscle earlier in the season.
But the Jets need all the help they can get on the defensive line,
getting after the quarterback.
That's always going to be a key.
And in Aaron Glenn's offense, nonetheless,
it basically is built around generating pressure
when you're not blitzing.
And Aaron Glenn spoke about David Bailey and his impact.
He kind of reflected on his development as a player this season.
And he said on Bailey, in the run game,
I think we all know that's one area where he's improved drastically
as far as he goes about it in his mental approach.
The pass game, we already know he's a good rusher.
He just has to understand with Mahomes, he's going to fake throw,
he's going to move around,
and we've got to make sure we squeeze the pocket
and make sure we don't let him out the pocket in situations like that.
I mean, exactly.
There is nothing more demoralizing than
when you feel like you have a guy
like Patrick Mahomes locked down the field with nowhere to throw to,
and then all of a sudden you see him somehow find a lane
and run 10, 15 yards for a back-breaking first down.
That's got to be something that's in the back of Aaron Glenn's mind.
As well as what the Jets are going to do to defend Travis Kelsey.
Which, I'm going to be honest, Kelsey has really surprised me.
Yes, he's one of the best tight ends of all time,
but the guy's 37 years old.
And if you think that he was distracted by Taylor Swift,
it hasn't affected his play
because he's having somewhat of a renaissance type of season.
Is he the player he was five, six years ago?
No, probably not, but he has that extreme amount
of chemistry with Patrick Mahomes.
And the Jets are going to need a plan
for it as he's been extremely productive.
Brian Buecher.
spoke to the media and he said,
I would not anticipate reading the Jets' minds on their game plan.
So we'll wait and see how that goes.
In my opinion, you have to mix it up.
What the Jets did against Brock Bowers and Michael Mayer last week,
the two Raiders tight ends, clearly didn't work.
So they cannot continue to do that.
I would say, utilize Minka Fitzpatrick.
He was brought in for a reason.
He's one of the better safeties in the game.
Utilize him.
Place him.
Allow him to follow.
Travis Kelsey on the field.
Also, Nashawn Wright, a 6'4 corner.
Maybe try activating him.
I know that there's the trade speculation
and Chris has spoken about it,
but he's still here as of now, so why don't they try to mix it up?
But again, an unsung hero on this Jets defense
that needs to be talked about
is Jamie and Sherwood.
Now, I don't anticipate him having a major impact
in covering Travis Kelsey necessarily,
but he needs to set the tone because he has been one of the Jets'
primary standouts on their defense.
When you look at his last five games, he's averaging 10
tackles per game. That's a four tackle improvement increase over
his first three games. And that's
amounted to already 68 tackles on the season,
including two forced fumbles.
Now, turning the page to the offense,
assuming the Jets defense can, I'll say, contain the
Chiefs offense to under 28 points, I think you would be okay with that.
In order for the Jets offense to be successful,
I think it revolves around the running game.
And the Chiefs have already been open about
their respect for Braylon Allen.
How could you not be?
Steve Spagnuolo, you know he's going
to come with all kinds of exotic looks
in terms of blitz packages.
That's what he's known for, going back
to when he was defensive coordinator
of the Giants during those Super Bowl runs.
And the Chiefs still do have a very formidable defensive front.
So when you look at Braylon Allen,
Braylon Allen is in a situation now where he has cemented himself
as clearly being capable of being one
of the best running backs in the league.
However, despite all this extremely impressive production,
now he's going to have to go back into a situation
where he is working with Breece Hall.
Because Breece Hall is very likely, barring a surprise,
going to play this week.
SNY Jets tweeted Brees Hall is trending in the right direction.
And Aaron Glenn has already stated his backfield plan,
assuming Brees does play.
And he said both of them will play.
So when you look at Brees Hall
and how he's been effective or lack thereof this season,
it's been mostly running to the outside.
And that's where, you know, to me, I would utilize Brees Hall.
For those outside stretch room run plays,
but running inside, I think you got to go with
Braylon. At the same time, you don't want a dead giveaway,
but the Jets are going to need to
control the ball in this game.
They're going to need to control the clock. So this is still a
really good sign. Of course, it's a good sign
that Brees Hall is back. We want him back.
I think that both of them being here
is the perfect timing for them to kind of split up
the carries, not just because you're worried
about Brees Hall not being 100% yet, but also
because this is going to have to be a heavy running game.
I don't see how the Jets can compete
in this game without running the football effectively
and running it at will.
So, and...
Utilize Braylon Allen and those power rushing concepts.
Utilize Brees Hall and those outside running concepts.
And I think you have a key for success there.
The Chiefs have come out and stated, Steve Spagnuolo also,
Allen has had four really good games.
He looks Derrick Henry-ish to me sometimes.
He's a big guy, and I've heard that too.
And that is, of course, extreme.
Praise, and I believe Derrick Henry just
hit LaDainian Tomlinson on the rushing,
all-time rushing list, you know, so that's a future Hall of Famer.
Obviously, I'm not saying that Braylon Allen will be,
but he does have some similar attributes in his player profile.
And when you look at the Jets' passing game,
they enter the Chiefs game underhanded.
Geno Smith has done a very good job passing the ball.
I posted a short about how his Pro Football Focus grade passing
is amongst the league's best.
But Garrett Wilson, the Jets' top target,
and I don't care what you say he is,
despite Omar Cooper showing flashes, despite Sadiq's talent,
despite Adonai Mitchell,
Garrett Wilson's still the Jets' wide receiver one.
He's out with a concussion.
A bit of a surprise, a bit out of left field,
but sometimes that's kind of how these kinds of injuries go.
And again, when you look at the Jets' injury report,
Garrett Wilson's out.
But that's really the main...
...acknowledge or definitive player that's out for the Jets offense.
But again, it ties back to what I said earlier.
The Jets are going to have to run the football.
In terms of the Chiefs...
Injuries, Peter Woods and Montour Delane will not play.
That's big, obviously, especially Peter Woods,
who's a big run-stuffer on the interior of that defensive line,
and Montour Delane, who's been really good in coverage.
I still think the Jets should favor running the football,
but again, they are not going to be without, you know, any talent.
We know that Kenyon Sadiq's been underutilized.
He's capable of doing more.
I'd like to see him utilized more in those passing situations.
And Adonai Mitchell...
Broke out last week.
Let's see that continue.
And let's get Omar Cooper back involved as well.
So this could be Aaron Glenn's last stand
because if they just fall uncompetitively
and go to two and seven.
I mean, the noise is already white hot,
and I don't know if he can survive that.
But let me know what you guys think will happen tomorrow.
I'm pretty sure I can already tell where this is going to go.
But A, do you believe the Jets will pull off the upset?
Or B, the Chiefs exposed the same problems.
Andy Reid's just a superior coach.
They're a superior team.
Comment below.
Let me know.
And as always, guys, let's go Jets.
