Happening in Covington today
an event that supports St. Jude Children's Hospital.
Speaking of the Bike Fest and many people got together
to participate in this, let's get out to our Eli Jordan
in Covington to talk more about what we can expect today.
Eli, this event happening until 5 p.m.
Oh yeah, happening until 5 p.m., it's free,
and if you want to show off your bike and
sit out here and bring it out and show it off, that costs $10,
but there's lots of games, there's food,
you can get your leather worked
on if you need any repair on your leather, you can just
meet some people with common interests and all that,
but right now they're doing some
of my games, we just wrapped up jousting,
which is, they weren't knocking other bikers
off their bike, but they're doing,
they're getting a cue stick and bringing things off
of the stand, but they're going
to do what they're going to do, straight line now, and
all this to benefit St. Jude's
and also to get some presents for local disadvantaged youngsters
who might not be able to have a Christmas otherwise,
but games that they're doing, this is fun.
So they've got different sized planks of wood here.
Do not spin your tires either.
You cannot fall, you drive your motorcycle,
ride your motorcycle, starting up here,
and you go down and you can't fall off the plank of wood.
and uh so that's another game it's a new one it's called straight line
stay on the wood, but uh hopefully we'll get
somebody to come out here and do this real quick
but it doesn't look like it but uh they do have
some really cool rides out here they've got three T-Rex out here
these are really awesome
bikes and uh i like this one
because we gotta come up with a better name than just we got
nitrous on the back of this bike i wonder
if she's ever uh used that nitrous bottle there
Oh wait, here we have somebody
who's going to try the straight line game, and this is
new for the Riders for Cure 213 here in Covington,
this is their bi-annual, the twice yearly
benefit, St. Jude's, it's going on until 5 p.m.,
and right now they're doing some games
going on, motorcycle games,
and let's see if this gentleman can do it, he's the first
First one to try it out.
Oh, and it's a lot tougher because
Ah, yeah, he knows how to ride a bike. Keep that balance.
Yeah, he did it. Maybe it's not as hard as it seems,
but it can be tough to ride a straight line on a bike because,
you know, you've got to keep that balance going.
But I think if you get a little speed up,
you'll be able to stay right on it.
That's what's been going on out here in Covington, Covington Square.
We've got lots of vendors out here.
We've got some motorcycle ministries.
They've got a raffle out here. You can win a nice grill.
Or win a 50-50 cash raffle drawing.
But there's a lot of people out here.
It's been going on.
It's been going on until 5 p.m. today.
So come on out here to Covington at the Square.
And patronize some of the businesses here that are at the Square, too.
They're all open as well.
And so you can come out here, eat some
Eat some Sunday dinner, grab yourself a drink,
come walk outside and check out the bike rally
happening here all for a Good Cause by the Riders for Cure 213,
benefiting St. Jude's and
also a little Christmas for the less fortunate kiddos in the area.
This is their they've been doing this since 2012
and so that's 14 years now going on and uh
this is one of the highlights of the day as the game's going on.
Again this is called straight line he's going
to try to ride right down these planks
without falling off
and uh people are kind of waiting in anticipation to see
exactly if it is as hard as it really
is or if it's really actually easy but uh that's what's been
happening here and uh maybe we can get him
to try it out one more time before we kick it back to you.
Got a nice crowd out here today. Like I said, it's free.
And they got bathrooms out here, too.
They actually have city bathrooms, actually.
You can go to the Covington Rest Station
and it's a clean bathroom there.
It's open for anyone that wants it.
They got the coffee shops here.
They got the vendors here serving barbecue and all that good stuff.
You might not understand it. You can't
be at work tomorrow because you've got...
So here we go. He's going to see
if he can stay on these planks real quick.
So yeah, that's what's been going on here.
They got those games. Yeah, almost, almost.
So that's what's been going on here. Almost, yeah.
Talking about the new games and stuff.
I know. We got it right to the very end.
It kind of fell off there, but...
We're going to get some more out here.
I think they're just trying to do it because it's new,
and I think some people are a little bit shy to check out the game.
But come on out here.
You've got until 5 p.m. today at Covington Square.
Come on, have some fun, relax, enjoy your Sunday afternoon.
It's a beautiful day.
And if you like motorcycles, this is the place to be.
Back to you, Jasmine.
All right, sounds good, Eli.
Thanks for showing us those games out there.
Looks like an incredible time, and it's all for a good cause.
