We are here this morning at the Watershed. It's a cute new spot.
Coffee, beer, drinks, all kinds of things.
Alex and Patrick, congratulations on opening very recently.
Why don't you tell us where you're located?
Yeah, so we're located right outside of downtown Austin in Clarksville.
We're at 1004 West 11th Street.
We're right across the street from the new Waterloo Records
and Whole Earth Provisions. Most people are familiar with that spot.
Yes, and this space is really cute, cozy. Alex, tell me...
About the vision?
Well, this has been to be a community space.
We do third-wave coffee, transition into a wine bar at night,
really cool old-world beers, the lovely Muum food truck.
So this is really supposed to be a neighborhood spot
where people can just come together and be together.
Okay, and you were telling me earlier a little bit about specials
and things that you offer.
Kind of give me the details.
Sure. Well, we have a few of them here.
So this is a house-made lavender soda.
We have a few house-made sodas that we make here, as well as mocktails.
This is one of our seasonal matchas.
It's a white sesame matcha latte.
And then we have our white chocolate and ube mocha,
which has almost had its run.
It was more of like a Halloween special,
but we're going to be moving into some more Thanksgiving
and Christmas Day specials.
We have a ton of...
Mocktails, N.A. beers and wine, as well as,
as Alex said, really cool natural wines and craft beer.
Yeah, no, I feel like you have to keep this because it's so pretty.
I agree.
Yeah, just keep it.
Tell me what else is going on here.
Sure. We have a ton of community programming,
so we really wanted the space to be kind of like a community center.
So we have live music pretty much every Thursdays,
just a rotating series of acts.
On Sundays, we have a live reading series
that currently is going to be the first and third,
which is called the Sunday Night Scaries, and we actually record that,
and we're going to be releasing it
as a podcast as well, which is really fun,
featuring a lot of local writers and speakers in Austin.
And then we have West Coast Wednesdays, which I'm really excited about,
Like, early...
Early 2000s, late 90s, West Coast hip-hop,
West Coast wine and beer specials, and we
just have stuff all the time.
So we have an events calendar,
and we have our Instagram, like, keep in touch.
There's a lot of cool stuff that we've curated here, I think.
And yeah, what's the website so people can take a look?
www.thewatershedatx.com.
And then, Alex, what does it mean to be in this space?
What does it feel like?
Like, um, um, um.
Honestly, it feels like coming home.
I mean, we were working on it for so long.
And the concept existed before we ever even moved
to Austin. We're transplants.
It was something a little closer to like a bodega
because we lived in New York.
And it transformed into this huge, beautiful community space.
And it's just kind of a dream come true.
I mean, there were times where I felt
like it was never going to happen.
And then it started happening.
And I was like, oh, my God, this is real.
This is happening.
So it's...
Every day I walk in, it's just mind-boggling.
Well, I love this space.
I will definitely be back.
Before we head out, anything else you guys want
to mention about the watershed?
Steak frites.
Come to Steak Frites.
It's on Sundays.
It's great.
$25.
Can't beat it.
That's a deal.
Love it.
Okay, I've got to try this real quick.
But thank you both so much for letting me come check out this space.
And you all know where it is now.
Oh, that's lovely.
Oh, that's delicious.
