Swimming is not an easy hobby for girls but I'm here to help you out.
This video is dedicated
for my lovely ladies that want to swim
and we're going to talk about choosing the right bathing suit,
how to care for your hair and skin and how to swim on your period.
Number one, bathing suit.
So rule number one of choosing a bathing suit
is that you have to be comfortable in it.
If possible, you want to try on different cuts,
see whatever suits you best.
In indoor swimming, you'll see mainly one-piece suits,
black, dark colored, one-piece are the most popular.
So if you don't want to stand out,
choose that. But if you are a bright person,
if you feel good in colors,
and different patterns, flowers, whatever it is, do that.
Something that you might
want to take into account is that swimsuits,
as you use them, they stretch.
Sometimes, actually probably oftentimes,
you might be able to just put it in the dryer.
It will shrink and you can play that game.
Stretch, shrink, stretch, shrink.
If I was a beginner and wasn't really sure
if swimming is my thing yet, I would just
go on Amazon and pick whatever basic option is there.
If I knew what I want to do and that swimming is my thing,
then I would go on swimming websites
like Swim Outlet, pick brands like Speedo,
Arena, the more professional swimming brands.
But my main advice is leave your bikini
for the beach and outdoor pools.
If you go swimming doing laps, one-piece suit is the way to go.
Chapter two, hair. Chlorine is a strong chemical.
It does not only kill bacteria in the pool,
it also strips away your natural oils from the hair and your skin.
So the two main pieces of advice here,
number one, wear a swimming cap. Yes,
your hair will still get wet,
but it will be much better protected from the chlorine
than if you don't wear a cap.
Number two, after every single swim in the chlorinated water,
We're going to go to a shower in the pool in the locker rooms
and wash off your hair
with just regular water.
It is up to you if you want to wash it with a shampoo
and conditioner right after, but
at least wash it off with the regular water.
Now, you might find that some popular swim brands
will have dedicated shampoos and conditioners
and hair products.
For swimmers, I have never used them.
I don't know if they work or if they don't work. But
if you don't do point A and point B.
Don't bother with a swim hair product.
Chapter three, skin. Same rule. Chlorine strips away
your natural oils and dries out your skin.
So what are you going to do is wash off your face
with regular water, wash off your skin, put moisturizer and lotion on.
Now let's talk about
being on your period and wanting to swim
because that could be really stressful. The number one
thing I want you to know is that when you're inside the water,
you're not going to leak.
The water creates the pressure and that stops your flow temporarily.
So when you're swimming,
when you're in the water, the pressure does not let the flow out.
But there is nothing
stopping it when you are walking around the pool deck,
either going to the locker room
or from the locker room to the water.
So what we're going to do is we're going to use tampons
or a menstrual cup, whatever you are most comfortable with.
In the locker room before you come out
on the pool deck you're going to insert the tampon in,
put on your bathing suit
and not there yet you're gonna double check if the tampon string is not
hanging out. So now for the period cramps.
Water can actually help soothe them and alleviate your
pain but it is your body so you have to listen
to what it's telling you if you still feel awful in
Go in the water.
Get out, go home, take a nap, eat ice cream.
And that brings us to the end of this video.

for the swimming girlies,
