Melania Trump Has More Influence Over Donald Than You Think

Wall Street Journal is saying Melania Trump complained to her husband that some of her friends were getting deported. And Donald Trump received that by saying that maybe Stephen Miller, his key aide, has gone too far. So the question, how much power does Melania have over her husband? So I got to tell you a story that I have not told yet, but I'm going to tell it because it just seems relevant. Because everybody's asking, does Melania Trump have power when it comes to Donald Trump? That's what struck me about the Wall Street Journal story. I didn't think that she was that involved, that she would even be talking to him about any policy. I guess it's different if it was affecting her personally. Maybe she would, but please, enlighten us. I'm going to tell you a story. A long, long time ago, in February of 2017, I was in Washington, D.C. And I visited Trump in the White House and we were in the Oval Office and he told me because the night before he had spoken to Congress for the first time and a lot of people felt that speech he gave was well received and that it was tempered and he got a moment where people were saying, okay, we kind of embrace this speech. He said to me, That he was planning on imposing the Muslim travel ban that next day, but on the drive back from the Capitol to the White House, Melania looked at him, and the way he put it to me was she said, you finally got some goodwill from Congress over the speech, don't f*** it up, with, I mean that's the way he described it, with imposing this Muslim travel And he looked at me and he said, I thought she was right, so I'm going to do it in two weeks. She was right about the fact that he got some goodwill. And that right not to do it that day. Right. And then he said, I'll give it a breath and do it in two weeks. So that was the way. Which I believe, as I recall, is what happened. And it was what happened, but that's the way he processed it. So she actually did have an impact on him. So he does listen to her. At least in that situation, he listened to her. And I found that really interesting.
