Almost 7 o'clock on this Thursday morning, November the 5th.
Thanks for being with us.
This is Good Day LA.
I'm Bobby Castro.
And I'm Jen Lammers.
Yes, it is Thursday.
Welcome to it.
Let's go over to Maria now for a check on this forecast.
We're in for kind of a warm-up, right?
Yeah, get ready.
A little taste of summer again coming back as we get into tomorrow,
particularly, and this coming weekend.
But today we'll start that warm-up.
We have a slight offshore flow that is developing.
You can kind of tell by the arrows how that wind flow
is coming from the land toward the ocean when we get that.
That flow, that weaker Santa Ana wind
that does help to warm up the atmosphere.
The bad news is it does dry us out,
and it also will increase the fire danger a little bit.
So we just have to be aware as we move
into the next several days of our fire ignition sources.
Right now, we've got temperatures that are on the cooler side.
It is 43 in Victorville, 25 in Big Bear.
That's well below freezing, mostly clear skies there.
61 in Granada Hills, 54 in Burbank.
So grab that light jacket, 61 in Palm Springs.
You won't need it this afternoon.
We're going to look for plenty of sunshine,
and we'll get to those low 80s in a low desert.
71 in the high desert areas, too.
Around the mid-50s, up into the mountains with some breezes.
Right now, no wind advisories.
We'll wait and see if that gets issued.
But 79 for downtown L.A. today.
Inland Orange County, that's going to be above the average.
Low to mid-80s for the Valleys
and Inland Empire to the upper 70s along the coast.
We do have those hazards at our coast.
Once again, coastal flood advisories going into effect.
I'll go over those details in just a few moments.
But in the meantime,
let's say good morning and welcome back to our stew up in Sky Fox.
You were missed, my friend.
Oh, thank you, Maria. I do appreciate that.
And you know what? Honestly, I missed the gig.
You have no idea. Let's talk a little bit of traffic.
Take a look at that 710. V-RON is where we are. That's Vernon.
And it's going to be a slow ride through Vernon,
especially if you're headed southbound.
The section of the 710 we're looking at is between the 5 and the 105.
And you can see it right there.
Southbound, very slow and go as you're making
your way down towards that 105.
It's going to stay that way.
You're never going to reach freeway speeds.
Keep that one in mind.
Sounds so negative.
But if you're headed northbound from the 105 out towards
the 5, there is a lot of slow.
But the closer you get to that 5, look at that.
Wide open and moving well.
Sending it back to you all in the studio.
Good morning.
All right, Stu. Good morning to you.
Good morning. The L.A. mayoral race is still too
close to call. City Councilmember Nithya
Raman's lead continues to grow over
incumbent Mayor Karen Bass this morning.
So let's look at the latest numbers here.
We show Nithya Raman at 52 percent,
with Karen Bass at 48 percent, and that is with
72 percent reporting. All right, let's go out to Mario Ramirez.
He's live in the City of Industry
We're in the industry right now
Still counting those ballots this morning,
and a new drop should come in any time now,
or a new count, rather.
Yeah, that's right. We'll get an update here around nine
o'clock this morning, actually between nine and ten.
And we should know around then where this race stands.
But as of right now, the two candidates
are split with about twenty six thousand votes.
And these ballots, they continue to be counted.
They could make all the difference.
I want to show you here at the L.A. County Ballot Processing Center,
an area that's been nicknamed, at least by the workers,
as the fishbowl. It's surrounded by glass.
And you can see this is where some of the most important work
in the election takes place. Ballots that have already gone through
the initial processing are prepared for scale.
Scanning, specialized equipment used to record the votes,
and this is all part of a secure, closely monitored operation
with election workers handling ballots from across L.A. County.
Now, take a look.
Nithya Raman, again, now leads Mayor Karen Bass
by more than 26,000 votes.
That's about 52% to 48.
Later counted ballots can favor younger, more progressive voters,
and that's a group that could benefit Raman here.
This race also exposing a divide within
the organized labor here in the area.
Bass has the support of most major unions and high-profile Democrats.
including Governor Newsom and former VP Kamala Harris,
but Raman has the backing of progressive groups
and the powerful Hotel Workers Union, Unite Here Local 11.
Now remember, Bass was ahead by nearly 10,000 votes on election night,
but that lead disappeared as more ballots were counted,
and that's something political analysts say
was not entirely unexpected.
In Los Angeles, we've seen that the later votes tend
to be cast by younger, more liberal voters.
So we have anticipated that Nithya Ramana,
as these votes go on, they would increase.
And remember, it took about a week after the June primary
before we knew which two candidates would advance in this race.
The county now processing those ballots around
the clock through Friday.
And ballots postmarked by Election Day could still arrive through
November 10th and be counted if they meet the requirements.
Now back out here live, you can see the workers here.
These are temporary paid election workers.
These positions, some of them starting at around 9 a.m.
25, 50 an hour.
I was talking to one of the workers here this morning,
asking how long he's been doing this and why.
He says he's been doing it for the last two years.
And as for the reason, he says it all comes down to the money.
Again, these are paid workers here who are seasonal.
He says he's hired for about six months at a time.
For now, live here at the L.A. County Ballot Processing Center.
We'll send it back to you.
All right. Good to know, Mario.
Thank you.
We'll check in with you throughout the morning.
Democrats are still celebrating big wins
in this week's midterm elections
As Republicans debate over what went wrong.
So let the blame game begin. Douglas Zader is live in Washington now.
We saw a lengthy, I guess you could call it a statement
or an analysis from J.D. Vance yesterday.
Yeah, and there's going to be, you know, kind
of an ongoing Republican autopsy playing out kind of real time here
with all kinds of disagreements about what went wrong,
what could have happened on Tuesday, and then there's
the reality of what happened on Tuesday as both sides get ready
for what this new Congress is going to look like in 2027.
President Trump watching as a ceremonial beam is put
in place as he constructs his new White House ballroom
and deconstructs what happened on Tuesday,
massive Republican losses despite dozens of rallies around the country.
There was such love at those rallies, it was incredible.
We weren't able to transfer the love to candidates.
His vice president was more blunt,
writing a post-election analysis that landed on this.
The reason we lost is the war.
And polling does indicate that along with the economy,
the war with Iran may have been a big
driver. Today begins the great American comeback.
The Democrats still basking in the victories and
promising to bog down the president's final two years.
Whenever Trump defies the will of
of the American people or the law
We will launch investigations,
take him to court and entangle him in legislative razor wire.
But Democrats have their own internal leadership questions
to sort out and that could expose
divisions within the party.
Republicans on Capitol Hill and elsewhere ponder what's next,
especially in 2028.
Some likely contenders for the White House were trying to distance
themselves from Tuesday's losses.
This was a rejection of Republicans in Washington
And Democrats just happen to be the beneficiary.
There's going to be some jockeying on the Democratic side
as well to figure out exactly what that race
for the White House is going to look like in two short years.
Back to you guys.
You have a few stars who are emerging, right?
Yeah, I mean, we see the discussions on the Republican side.
Some are kind of obvious.
You know, DeSantis is already out there talking.
And then on the Democratic side, you already see.
Talk percolating around.
Ossoff, Abdul Sayed, potentially AOC.
Right, yes.
Newsom, we don't know if that's going to, or Kamala Harris.
There's a number of people.
Right.
Who knows, Doug?
Yep, as you said, just two years away.
And we're already thinking about it, right?
It'll be quite a dance card, yep.
Thank you, Doug.
Have a great day.
Thank you.
You too.
All right, let's talk about the national picture here.
Well, the big picture already clear,
Democrats have won back control of Congress.
Just how big that majority will be is still unclear.
That's because we are still waiting
on the Senate races in Alaska and Mississippi to
be called.
So let's take a look at this.
Democrats have flipped control of the Senate,
ending the Republican majority that stood
at 53 to 47 before the election.
Seven Senate seats were flipped from Republican to Democrat,
and that happened in deep red
states, states like South Carolina, Texas, Kansas, and Ohio.
The Dems also won back the House,
meaning President Trump will now face a divided government
for the final two years of his term.
That is a significant shift in power.
Democrats will have more controls over the legislative agenda,
committee investigations
and the ability to challenge the president's policies.
Now, while they have secured at least 54 Senate seats,
two races are still unresolved.
First, Alaska. Democratic former Congresswoman Mary Peltola
is holding a very narrow lead over Republican incumbent Dan Sullivan.
As of the latest reported count last night,
Peltola was ahead by just 637 votes.
And this one?
Could actually take some time and here's why.
You see, Alaska uses ranked choice voting. If no
candidate receives more than 50% of the first choice votes,
the last place candidate is
eliminated and those votes are redistributed based
on voters' next choices. The state is
also still counting mail-in and overseas ballots
with ranked choice results expected on November 18th.
This is normal. This is Alaska normal.
It's gonna take a long time to make sure we're
counting every vote
from every far-flung hinterland community,
from every tiny people going to
colleges.
We are going to count their votes.
Their votes will be counted. They will be heard.
I've lived in Alaska for 50 years,
so I'm used to it taking a while. It's exciting that
for the first time we've been consequential in this election,
which is not always the
norm. We are patiently awaiting.
There's another unusual twist to all of this two candidates named
Dan Sullivan were on the ballot and the Republican incumbent
and the retired teacher with that same name that has become part
of a legal controversy surrounding the race.
So basically with Alaska, the word here is patience.
Last time around when it came to a Senate race,
it took two weeks to actually get a result.
We move on to Mississippi, where we could see another surprise.
Democratic challenger Scott Colom
is narrowly leading Republican incumbent Sidney Hyde-Smith.
With about 96% of the vote counted,
Colom was ahead by just 1,138 votes.
That is remarkable development in a state
that has long been a Republican stronghold.
This is in fact a state the president won in 2024 by 24 points.
So Scott Colom was able to somehow break into some of the rural
and suburban counties
and really flip those.
Mississippi hasn't voted for a Democratic president since 1976
and hasn't elected a
Democrat to statewide office since 2015.
So a Democratic Senate win here would be a major political upset.
But there are still ballots to be counted.
State officials say about 3,600 mail-in ballots remain,
along with an unknown number of provisional ballots.
And unlike some states,
Mississippi does not automatically provide for a recount in a tie.
The candidates would need a court order.
So even though the Democrats have already secured control
of the Senate, these two
races still matter a great deal.
If they win both, that could expand their majority even further.
Back to you.
All right, Roxanne, thank you.
And while we're keeping an eye on those national races,
of course, we will bring you updates
on our local races as they come in.
So we are expecting a new batch of election results
to drop between 9 and 10 this morning, as Mario was saying.
New this morning, meantime, this will tell you about
a wild overnight pursuit through the San Fernando Valley
ended with a crash and an arrest.
And part of that chase was caught on video.
Gigi Garcia joining us live with that footage.
Gigi.
That's right. It was a wild pursuit on and off the freeway,
on and off the streets of the San Fernando Valley.
And it came to a crashing end.
And even then, the driver didn't want to stop.
It started just after 1 o'clock this morning
when patrol officers spotted a Ford Mustang they believed was stolen.
They tried pulling over the driver and his passenger.
The driver, he didn't want to stop, and the pursuit was on.
On city streets, onto the 405 South, exiting, then getting on the 101,
getting off the freeway again, up and down all the canyon roads.
We're talking about Laurel, Coldwater, Benedict.
This guy was all over doing speeds
from anywhere from 25 miles an hour to over.
80 miles an hour at times, patrol officers lost him,
then they found him again, and again
it all came to a crashing end on Woodcliff Road in Sherman Oaks,
that's just off Mulholland.
The driver though, even though he had crashed,
he took off running, he was quickly caught,
he was injured.
As for his passenger, well,
his passenger was quite talkative, bragging to officers
he had just gotten out of prison.
Yes, he told officers
that if he had been driving
the Ford Mustang,
they never would have caught him.
After all, he just got out of prison for felony evading.
That's leading police on yet another pursuit.
He was questioned and released. As for the driver,
he's now facing felony evading charges.
The Ford Mustang is registered up north to a business and
police are working to see if it was indeed stolen.
Reporting live this morning, I'm Gigi Garcia.
Back to you. All right, Gigi, thank you.
Thank you, Gigi. 7:14, we'll take a short break.
Look at this, a tricky little situation
in eastern Russia where a young deer got stuck
in the ice about five meters from shore.
A local resident called emergency services
and when they arrived, one of the rescuers
got down on his belly,
he slid over to the fawn and gently dragged it back to land.
The fawn was taken to a zoo where it was given a warm place to recover.
I never get comfortable walking on a frozen lake.
No.
It's just like, oof.
When's the last time you walked on a frozen lake?
Well, I've seen a lot of frozen lakes recently,
but I just was like, I am not going anywhere near that.
People ice skate on them.
I know.
I always just assume that it's thin and I'm going to fall through.
One, this one sounds like the start of a joke,
an alligator wanders into a bagel shop.
It's exactly what happened in Southport, North Carolina.
Surveillance video there showing
that alligator entering the back of the building,
crawling through a storage room, into the kitchen,
right into the main customer area.
I mean, that's just a big lizard.
That is a very small alligator.
You could get a broom for that.
You could.
Don't you think?
Yeah, you could.
It didn't bite anyone.
They just let it walk out.
Now, if it was one of those alligators that you see on the golf courses
which basically look like a baby dinosaur, that's a different story.
Right.
Forget swatting mosquitoes.
Researchers are now using artificial intelligence
to outsmart mosquitoes
with a new trap that could help stop deadly diseases.
So this technology comes from a startup
at the University of South Florida.
The trap uses a fan to pull mosquitoes inside
Cameras capture an AI analysis using images.
Researchers say it can identify mosquito species
more than 98% of accuracy.
It could be a huge upgrade from traditional methods,
which can take specialists two to three days
to identify them under a microscope.
Okay, but then what?
Right.
You're not eradicating them, you're just identifying them.
They're tracking the species in real time
and better target efforts to control populations.
No, you're just identifying them.
Right.
And then do you figure out how to stop them from attacking you?
Yeah.
Which I was attacked a lot last week.
You were attacked.
You were attacked.
Yeah.
How's your ankle doing?
You know what?
It still hurts a little bit and I take my last antibiotic today.
But it was crazy last week,
and it just ballooned up, and it got infected.
And it got red, right?
Oh, yeah.
I had a bite this year also.
I had to go see a dermatologist.
Yes, I remember that, too.
It was like this big.
On your back, right?
It was on your back?
On my arm?
Are you a type O blood type, Bob?
Oh, it was on my back.
That's right.
How do I know this?
I am. Why?
Does that have anything to do with it?
Because I am too.
They say that they really love our blood type.
So they just keep going back for more and more and more.
Also, universal donors.
That's right. That's true.
True.
Okay, so good morning.
Enough about those yucky mosquitoes.
Even just talking about mosquitoes, I get like the heebie-jeebies.
Makes you shiver a little bit, right?
All right, let's talk about our weather
because it is going to be quite pleasant today.
We've got an area of high pressure that's really building.
But we are going to look for increasing winds
and some of these wind gusts to get up to 20,
30 miles per hour to 40 as we get into tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday.
And that is going to help clear out the cloud cover.
It's also going to warm us up back to the mid, maybe even upper 80s.
The bad news is that it's also going to increase our fire.
danger, so we just have to be really mindful about
our fire ignition sources. All you cigarette
smokers too, make sure you appropriately discard your
cigarettes. Okay, or better yet, stop smoking.
Let's just stop it. Does not get off. We have a
Big pattern change coming up next week.
Look at this area of low pressure that we're watching
that's going to bring us and open this wet door for us.
So we've got rounds of rain potentially starting next week
after Veterans Day holiday.
So between now and then though,
it is going to be quite warm.
We also have that coastal flood advisory
that's going to affect tomorrow.
We've been talking about this all week.
So we have now this combination again
of not just some higher surf rolling in,
but this high tide nearing 7.7, maybe even 7.8 feet.
Coastal flooding and beach erosion, once again,
an issue for those of you living or working along our coastline,
especially out in Orange County.
Today, 79 in Englewood, 84 in Indio, 70 in Las Vegas.
If you're headed there, 70 in Fresno.
Here's your day planner for today out in Ventura County.
We've got some sunshine and then some clouds starting to roll in.
Just some high clouds, though.
78 degrees to 79 by 12,
1 p.m. this afternoon in Anaheim out in Orange County.
Around 79 to 80 degrees later at 1 o'clock.
All right, I'll show you the rest of my forecast
coming up in just a few moments.
In the meantime, I will send it to Stu up in Sky Fox,
get another update on that commute.
Hey, Stu, where are you?
Hey, hey, good morning, Maria, and thank you for sending it over to me.
Skybox traffic is brought to us by my home sold.
Tough drive? Yes, definitely.
We're taking a look at that 10.
Mid-city is where we are.
Tail lights? Yeah, it's a tough drive
on that westbound 10 this morning.
You're hitting the brakes right around the 110,
and then it's a slow crawl almost all the way out to the 405.
Plan accordingly.
Now, eastbound, usually a little bit better.
Today, the word little bit is the key words right there.
Just a little bit better.
Expect a lot of slow and go.
Also on the eastbound lanes from the 405 out to the 110.
Let's take a look at some traffic hot spots.

Music legend Bob Dylan met up with the Pope at the Vatican.
Hey, you can't take your hoodie off?
He looks like a Jedi.
The visit taking place during a break at Dylan's Italian tour,
Dylan gave the Pope a signed copy of his autobiography,
and the Pope gave Dylan a rosary.
That's kind of cool.
Hey, take your hoodie off.
Just for a second.
You're meeting the Pope.
It's like, take your hat off.
But you also have a tie underneath your hoodie.
It's his shtick, you know.
Okay.
Yeah.
Meanwhile, Pope Leo is getting a new ride
for his trip to Peru next week.
Ooh, look at this.
Church officials and General Motors just unveiled
a pair of specially modified Chevy pickups.
They were adapted to meet Vatican specifications
for the Pope's safety and comforts
as he's driven to various towns throughout the country.
If you go to the...
Pope my ride.
If you go to the Peterson Automobile Museum,
they have a couple of Popemobiles.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
They're bulletproof, aren't they?
That's like the famous thing about the Popemobile.
That's the thing. Right?
That's the thing. Yeah.
And then the last one would just jump out of it.
Francis, he's just like, I'm out of this. He just goes shake hands.
I'm going to be among the people.
Just past 7:30 this morning. Welcome back.
And Halloween was all treats and no tricks for the Bruins on Saturday
as they shut out Nevada at home in a 27 to nothing stunning victory.
So this week, UCLA is now ranked
Eighth in the playoff college rankings and remain at eight and oh,
they're on the road this weekend to hopefully make it nine
and oh against Minnesota.
Here to talk about this former Bruin player Anthony Barr.
It's great to see you back. Yeah.
Are you riding high right now? Oh, I could not be more elated.
I mean, this has just been a fantastic experience so far watching
these Bruins play hard, play smart, play physical, play together.
We're saying it's like, you know, one game at a time,
but it's their best start in 21 years.
I know.
I was looking at some players on that roster on that team 21 years ago,
like Mercedes Lewis and Maurice Jones Drew like absolute legends.
And so for the Bruins now to be 8-0 best start
in 20 years, it's so special.
And it warms all of our hearts and all
the Bruin faithful are behind them.
With every game, you start to think like they can really
do this and they can keep this going.
So do you think they can keep this going?
What's it going to take for them to keep going?
A hundred percent.
I'm fully bought into the Bob Chesney.
I haven't experienced practice the last couple days,
going in and seeing how he communicates
with that team.
He starts every meeting off with the fight song.
All the players stand up, the whole entire staff.
He's blaring the music, really, and they're chanting,
boom, you know, for two minutes.
And then they get into meetings, and the
energy's high, the practice energy's high.
And that alone sets the foundation for being successful.
I mean, he's changed the culture for the better, right?
Bill Simmons actually said on his podcast
that UCLA is blowing up Bob Chesney's contract
and giving him a huge extension smart move,
right, to lock him in there.
Blank check.
I mean, just Bob Chesney with a pen.
Name your price.
Get it done.
We need this guy in Westwood for the long term.
What he's done in just such a short time has been just amazing
and I hope that he gets
locked in for the long term.
Because you know there's some other programs are already saying,
uh, this guy's...
There's been some phone calls.
You know how they do.
There's been some phone calls.
Especially probably down in the SEC.
You know how they get down.
Yeah.
So it's very important for us to keep him in L.A.
All right.
So you've attended many of these games.
Yeah.
Next is Minnesota.
Yes.
This could be a tough one.
It's on the road.
Correct.
How do you see this?
Well, Minnesota came off a tough game last week, right?
They lost in overtime to Indiana.
And those emotional games can take a lot out of you.
So I think there's an advantage there for the Bruins.
I think they can go in.
If they continue to play their style of football, right,
play good defense, don't turn the ball over, run the ball.
Right.
All recipes for success.
In Minnesota, a place I'm familiar with,
the weather won't be too big of a factor.
So I think they continue to do the right
do the right things, play together, play hard.
Yeah.
And I'm expecting a win.
Just keep doing what they're doing and stay the course, right?
All right?
First-string quarterback Ty Diffenbaugh has
been starting since they lost Nikko, right?
For the whole season last month against Oregon.
How high is his ceiling?
Can he keep this up?
Well, I think he's gotten better every week.
But with success comes confidence, right?
And I think that's the biggest thing at the quarterback position.
You've got to get comfortable with it.
Right, exactly.
Getting comfortable with the program,
kind of the system that they're running.
And what I like the most right now for what the UCLA Bruins have going
is that they were ranked eighth, right?
They were kind of slided in a way.
They feel maybe that they got overlooked.
And I think that's kind of been the message all season.
It's like we're kind of the underdogs.
So let's hone in, let's continue to...
Let's talk about Sammy O,
named one
of the 12 semifinalists
for the Lombardi Award
on Wednesday.
Linebacker, linebacker, linebacker.
I've had the chance to meet him and kind of talk with him
and see how he goes about his business, and he's the real deal.
I mean, he's built like a real linebacker.
He's going to have a very successful NFL career, in my opinion.
But he's just the most humble kid,
and I think that's what I appreciate the most.
He doesn't say too much, but he has a confidence about him,
the way he carries himself, the way he communicates with his teammates.
And then the way he plays on Saturdays
is just a treat to watch, a joy to watch.
You see number 10 flying around that field making plays,
tackles for losses, sacks.
Forced fumbles and there's nothing this guy can't do.
He's kind of the heartbeat of that defense.
So you can have the size.
What does it take to...
Take it over the top.
It's all between the ears.
It's all between the ears.
Like any player, I think you have to be confident.
You have to believe in your ability.
And then when that meets preparation, that meets hard work,
you kind of see what Sammy's doing on Saturdays.
And the coaching, too, has been phenomenal.
The D coordinator, the linebacker coach have
all put him in position to be successful,
him and all the other guys as well.
But he's definitely the leader of that defense and just a great kid,
and I'm looking forward to watching him for the rest of the season.
Fan turnout has been something people have kind of criticized here.
Do you see the fans getting energized by these continued victories?
I would hope so.
I mean, what more would you like to see for those guys, right?
They're undefeated.
It's time to fill that Rose Bowl up.
I think students especially,
I know it's a tough trek for some of those guys
to get up to Pasadena from Westwood,
but in my opinion, there's no excuse.
It's time to support your team.
But also from a player standpoint, and you know this,
I mean, you feed off the energy in the audience and the fandom,
And so it's important when you're on the field.
How do you feel to see that?
Sure, yeah.
You want to feel supported.
You want to feel like people have your back,
and we do, but they want to see it in the
stands, right?
And I think the game that we will see it,
when the USC Trojans come to Westwood or to
Pasadena in a few weeks, we will see a packed stadium,
a packed Rose Bowl, and then maybe
that will generate that, you know, the excitement about it, for sure.
Yeah, and then on to the playoffs, hopefully, and then...
Absolutely.
We're going to the playoffs.
Winning it all.
We're winning everything.
There you go.
All the way.
Bruins number one.
Something we also saw was your podcast.
You guys did it up for Halloween.
Yeah, I was Chewbacca.
It was pretty uncomfortable.
Ha, ha, ha, ha.
Pretty uncomfortable, I will say. It was a little warm in there.
Oh, Power Ranger. Is that Power Ranger?
That's Power Ranger right there. I was a big Power Ranger guy.
Star Wars guy. Did you make the Chewbacca noise?
I did. I'm not going to do it now.
Oh, come on.
Okay. You got me. I've been working on it.
I've been working on it. I make a good Chewbacca.
Yeah. That's range, right? That's versatile.
What was it? You're like, I'm a big guy.
I could do that. I'd be a perfect. But you took the,
you took the. Yeah, I couldn't breathe in that thing.
Like the mask, like the mouth was where
my eyes were. So it was like, I look kind of crazy,
but I certainly can't podcast in that.
No, absolutely not. I went to the costume store and it was like.
Only so many that had like double X's
and it was like that or like, uh, I don't know
what, some Ratatouille maybe character.
Well, that's my favorite Disney movie.
I will say, um, I thought Chewbacca, I could,
you know, I could play into that a little
more.
So that's great.
That's what we landed on.
So how's the podcast going?
And, uh, you know, what can people expect
if they're going to tune into your podcast?
Yeah.
So the podcast has been out of shape, um,
on YouTube, on, on most streaming platforms.
It's just a platform for me and my ex-teammate to talk
Talk about football, pop culture,
the landscape of kind of the social climate.
It's just something that we thought would be fun to do.
There's really nothing more to it.
But every Wednesday, we air at 11.
We drop at 11 on YouTube.
And yeah.
What had me bent out of shape this week, I will say, was my dog, okay?
So I have a Cane Corso.
He's 110 pounds.
His name is Hendrix.
Two years old.
Sweetest dog in the world, right?
You think of those dogs as kind of aggressive.
Gentle giant thing.
He couldn't be less of an aggressive dog.
But my issue is, in the middle of the night,
when I go maybe to get some water or use the restroom,
I come to the back of my bed, and he's in my spot.
And it happened this morning.
You know why they do that?
Because they love you so much.
Well, I appreciate that.
A, because the space is warm, but then B, because it smells like you.
No, I totally get it.
But my thing is like, if you want me to have energy
to take you to the park and take you
on a walk, I need my eight hours, you know,
Hendricks has no, he doesn't need a bigger
bed.
Maybe I do.
Yeah.
I mean, I can't, what's bigger than the California King.
I've seen the shack.
Zach had that big circle there.
You could put it together.
That's what you need for school.
I don't know.
But yeah, my dog will move.
You just say move.
Hendricks is, he's a load.
He's 110 pounds.
I mean, especially when he's sleeping.
Oh yeah.
Wow.
He's beautiful.
He's awesome.
I love him.
Yeah.
Sorry.
Sorry to put you out there.
And he'd love it. Love it, love it.
What's got you out of shape this week?
What do you say?
What's it?
Let's just air all of our grievances right now.
Yeah, right now's the time to do it. For sure.
I don't know. What's got you out of shape?
Come on, no! You've got to answer the question!
You guys just live perfect lives.
Nothing wrong.
Answer the question!
In your world?
I don't know!
It's okay. It could be tough.
You won't air your grievances every
commercial break when you can't do it here?
Why don't you tell me first?
That builds. I'll do it. That builds.
Oh, my gosh. Astronomical ridiculous for no good reason.
Overcharging. What's that? What animals? I have a dog. I have a little
Maltipoo. She's seven pounds. Oh, those would
be the most expensive ones, though. Yes, they are.
Why is that? I don't know about it.
I don't know much about a Maltipoo, but
yeah, I can see that being complicated for sure.
Yeah, that's right. But you're going to pay it.
Yeah, exactly. You're going to take care of it at the
end of the day. Of course you will, and they know
this. That's why. They do. They take advantage of it.
Thank you. UCLA's next.

All right, you can listen to Anthony Weekly
on his Ben Out of Shape podcast,
available on Spotify, YouTube.
Apple and the rest and he says it drops every Wednesday.
That's right. I mean, I have I'm not bent out of shape
You know when your life's all rainbows and unicorns
I need to hone some of that.
Give me some of that.
Come on, good for you brother
Maria, I know you've got something bent.
Bent out of shape. Come on. Usually it's Bob. Yeah
Yeah, that's right.
Usually it's Bobby just be mr. Contrarian to everything we say
But yes, that's good. I love that you love Ratatouille.
That's your favorite movie
She's so cute.
So great.
All right, good to see you.
Good morning to you. Let's talk about our weather because we
are anticipating some big swings in our weather forecast first
for the very warm temperatures. Well, at least it's going
to be warmer as we get into this upcoming weekend and then a big swing
and change to very wet weather as we get into the extended outlook.
Here's a live look outside. Beautiful. The surfers are out.
Surf heights actually increasing a little bit.
We do have mostly sunny conditions today,
slightly warmer within a bigger warm up as we get into Friday,
Saturday and Sunday with those winds out of the northeast increase.
So we're talking about a weak Santa Ana wind event this coming weekend
then that higher surf high tide combination
is coming in beginning tomorrow and that is going
to bring some big problems for our coastal communities once again
so coastal flood advisories go into effect and that big pattern
change like I said next week yes it's going to be a rainy well.
According to the models, rainy end of the week next weekend,
it'll be just the start, it looks like.
Otherwise, we have done pretty well for this season,
which started October 1st.
We got some rain over an inch and a third, and that brings us
to a surplus of almost three-quarters of an inch of rain.
It will stay dry the rest of this week until...
Perhaps next week, 79 is what we're expecting today for downtown L.A.
That's above the average and our sunset is at 456.
Here are the highs, 82 in Woodland Hills, 79 downtown,
same as Ontario, 55 in Big Bear to that 82 today in Palm Springs.
All right.
There's my weather for the hour. I'll send it back to you guys.
All righty. Thank you. You know what? Pull up. Pull up.
You know what? I was so fascinated with your interview.
Oh, yeah, I was so fascinated by the grievances, right?
Yes, I love it. I love it. Bob doesn't have anything to share.
Bob always, it's so funny, there's nothing to share on air
because you have so much to share behind the scenes.
That's right. He said, what are you bent out of shape over?
Yeah, lots of stuff. Lots of stuff. Life is great. Life is great.
Okay. Nothing bothers Bob. No, nothing ever. Yeah.
At all.
At all, ever.
Okay, jumping into entertainment,
sponsored by Yaamaba Resort and Casino, Cardi B.
Oh my gosh, I just saw this picture that she posted.
We were sharing these pictures.
So cute.
So cute.
This baby's cute.
She's celebrating her son's first birthday.
Look at this little baby.
Oh my gosh.
By revealing, this is the first time we've seen his face.
Doesn't that look exactly like her?
It does.
Wow, what a beautiful, beautiful baby.
Happy first birthday, she said, to Gray Marshawn Diggs.
Now, Diggs sounds familiar.
It's because his dad is NFL player Stefon Diggs.
It's only been one year since meeting you, she said,
but it feels like I've had you at my side forever.
I carried you through one of the most uncertain,
high-pressure times of my life,
but having you inside of me through it all gave me an extra strength.
Cardi also shares kids culture with a K who's eight
and Wave five and also Blossom who's two
with ex-husband Offset.
I can't believe Culture is eight years old already. Culture is so cute.
She makes beautiful babies. She really, let me tell you.
And you know what Cardi, even though she's
Very over the top.
When you get to like watch and follow her on social,
she's sweeping the floor.
She's making her read, making her kids read.
I used to watch like when she would have the,
in New York, I guess she would get like these
dinners or whatever, the styrofoam boxes.
And she would just like eat out of the styrofoam container,
like a totally normal person.
Totally normal person.
And what I love about it is how close she is with her parents.
Yeah.
And I don't know, it's like a New York thing, a cultural thing.
But like just seeing, it reminds me of like our family, we're together.
all the time. It doesn't matter the distance.
Like, it's funny. My husband's family will maybe
come visit him once every two years.
We don't want to impose. We're family twice a month. We're
coming out to see you. We've got the guest room.
My mom's like, you don't even have to wash the
bedding. I'm going to be back next week.
She gets in there, you know? You got to get in there. My
dad's shipping stuff to my house for when he comes out.
That's how we do it. Right.
Guys, do you remember 90210?
Of course.
Who was your favorite?
I never watched it, but I do remember it.
Dun, dun, dun, dun.
That was like the soundtrack.
Who was your favorite?
Everyone had a fave.
Don't say you don't know.
Dylan. Dylan. Dylan. Okay. Dylan. Was Dylan Brian Austin Green?
No. No. Dylan was Luke Perry. Oh, Luke Perry.
Yeah. He was everyone's favorite. I know.
He was like the James Dean of our generation.
I also really liked Brian Austin Green.
Well, now 90210 stars Tori Spelling and Brian Austin Green.
They're reuniting.
for a thriller micro series
so get used to this term micro series because it's all the
rage.
The two portrayed on and off couple
member Donna Martin and David Silver.
They were on this show for 10 seasons from 1990 to 2000.
It was like Tiger Beat of our dream.
This thriller micro series does not yet have a title
or a release date, but it just wrapped
filming and it's going to be for Vert TV.
I have a confession to make.
You know, I love TikTok.
Yeah.
And I'm on TikTok a lot.
There are these AI dramas about fruit, like these ones.
Oh, gosh.
I don't even know how I can, like, look you both in the eye.
There's like, hey, Cherry, I'm hanging out with Peach now.
Oh, I knew you were dating Blueberry.
And I know I sound like a nut job saying this.
Are they the actual fruit?
They're like, they're AI fruit, like Barbies and Ken,
and when they come across my feed.
If somebody out there also watches the fruit dramas on TikTok.
That's ridiculous. I'm going to send me the link.
I'm going to send it to you because I'm telling you,
it's like a train wreck. You can't look away.
Here you are trying to protect Hollywood film shooting
and movies, and you're watching.
I'll just tell you this, I don't seek them out, they come on to my FYP.
And now they're going to be on your FYP
because you're talking about it right now.
I hope not.
They're listening.
You know in the commercial I'm going to show you one and I dare you
to keep a straight
face when you see two strawberries fighting over a banana.
Like a telenovela?
It is.
If it starts getting spicy, add the tahini and I'm ready.
You see, though, it does.
They like they wonder who the dad is of the fruit babies.
Oh, it gets.
Yeah.
But getting back to 90210,
do you remember these shows like Melrose Place?
Yeah.
X-Files.
Well.
Come along with us on a throwback Thursday.
Oh, I love it.
You want to know which 90s show do you miss the most?
You have to pick one.
Is it Beverly Hills 90210?
Is it Love and Marriage?
Married with Children?
Is it X-Files?
Is it Melrose Place?
Or is it We Are Living Single?
Which one?
I've only watched two on that list.
Which one?
X-Files and Married with Children.
So I have to go with Married with Children.
You've never watched Melrose Place?
I've never watched Melrose Place.
That's so bizarre.
Or Beverly Hills 90210.
I know.
Or Living Single.
Or Living Single.
I mean, like, you know, I feel like...
Yes, Beverly Hills and Melrose Place,
we're both like in the cultural lexicon, right?
Yeah, lexicon, for sure.
But I also feel like
because I never lived in California until like later on in my life.
But that's part of it.
But maybe I was like, I can't identify with this.
People who have that California vibe.
Married with children, very Midwest,
like Roseanne was another one, right?
Yeah, Roseanne, Midwest.
Yeah.
It's interesting because the Midwest was one
of the top demos for Big Bang Theory.
Interesting.
That area loved that show.
So there's a lot of television consumption in the Midwest,
but it was funny because everybody
loved The O.C. when I was in high school and college,
even if you didn't, and then when
I moved to California, I was like,
I need to go to The O.C., and I did, yeah.
But I actually ran into them filming in Long Beach.
You end up in Long Beach.
I was going to say, you end up in Irvine.
Yeah, right.
Right, not the coast.
You're the Dexter filmed in Marina Del Rey.
Wow.
Yeah.
Anyway, over to Steve.
Go to our poll.
Go to our poll.
Yeah.
Hey, Skybox Traffic's brought to us by...
Gobi and Myers, injury lawyers, take a look at the drive.
That's going to be the 110 we're looking at down there.
Those headlights, those are going
to be northbound, and you know the drill.
It's going to be a tough ride indeed from the 105 out to the 10.
Give yourself extra time,
even the carpool lane and the fast track starting to fill up.
Now, southbound, you're not doing much better.
You're actually hitting the brakes just about MLK.
But if you're taking that fast track, ooh, that ride looks good.
Oh, look, a little fire breaking out.
Oh, welcome to Los Angeles.
The fire department is going to be there soon.
Hopefully that does not affect the traffic.
Let's talk about, let's go take a peek
at some of those traffic hotspots.
Insurance offer for a bike accident, $5,000.
Jacoby and Myers' result, $500,000.
Call to see what your case is worth.
1-800-5-MILLION.
Because you deserve justice.
And welcome back to you. I'm meteorologist Maria Cuban.
Good day LA weather is brought to you by
My Home Sold. Here's a live look outside right behind
the Hollywood sign looking at Lake
Hollywood down below. Lots of sunshine already
and this is going to be the pattern as we get
to the weekend. Good day LA weather is brought to you by My Home Sold.
If you are traveling this
morning perhaps heading
to the northeast we've got some rainy weather there coming out of the
Great Lakes. 58 in Detroit today for that high temperature.
69 in New York City. 80s
Out towards Florida and Tampa, 84.
84 in Houston today, so a little warmer to our 79 in downtown L.A.
And this is why we're looking at a warm-up.
We've got a big area of high pressure,
clockwise flow of air around this ridge of high pressure,
giving us that offshore flow.
It's a weaker Santa Ana wind event.
I don't suspect we'll get any wind warnings.
However, it will be a little bit
on the gustier side below those canyons and passes,
so anywhere between 20 to 40 miles per hour
as we get to tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday.
Now, things will change.
Change after next week's holiday.
Next week, we've got Veterans Day holiday coming up on Wednesday.
Watch this computer model here.
This is our European model.
You can see this weekend, we've got the high pressure,
mostly clear skies and sunshine.
But then look how things change as we get to Wednesday, Thursday.
Clouds and an opportunity for a big area
of low pressure to swing down with its cold front,
bringing us a good chance for rain late Thursday into Friday.
And that will just open the door.
We've got a couple more big systems behind
that that could continue our wet weather.
The following week.
So, just get ready, I guess is what I'm saying,
according to the models.
And as you know, this is a super
El Nino kind of year that we're looking at.
And that is going to mean, generally,
a wetter season for us coming up this winter.
It's already playing out for our homeowners along the coast
with the coastal flood advisories still going on.
And this one just got issued for tomorrow into Tuesday.
Tuesday, this will bring in the combination.
High tide, high surf, so that means more
coastal flooding and beach erosion.
The high tide getting up to 7.7 feet, coinciding with higher surf,
potentially 7 foot sets as we get to the weekend.
Here is the tide forecast.
As you can see, the date range 5 to 12, November 5th to the 12th.
We're looking at peak high tides really getting up to the 7.7 mark.
And then next week, the week after that, November 21st to the 28th,
that's your Thanksgiving weekend holiday.
A chance for even higher tide.
Highs of 8.3 to 8.6, so some really dangerous conditions potentially
for anyone along the coast.
So keep that in mind as well as you plan ahead.
In the meantime, today we do have surf heights getting up to around 3
to 5 feet for L.A. County, Ventura County beaches, 2 to 4.
Orange County stays dry this week,
but then next week we will anticipate that wet weather.
79 today for downtown L.A.,
getting up to the mid-upper 80s this weekend.
Veterans Day holiday next week,
Wednesday, some clouds start to develop.
82 for the valleys in the Inland Empire.
Look at that, close to 90 as we get to this weekend
because of that offshore flow.
The mountains, 55 eventually in Big Bear,
maybe getting to the 60s as we get into Sunday and early next week.
The high desert, 71 degrees and out towards the Coachella Valley,
of course, a little bit warmer, closer to 80.
Maybe 82 today, getting to the mid-80s as we get
to this upcoming weekend with plenty of sunshine.
All right, now let's do some TV shout-outs.
Before you head out the door.
That's the Halloween edition still going this week.
Babies here dressed up as Furby and Buzz Lightyear.
So cute.
Diana, thank you for sending us your baby's pictures there.
And then this family, happy Halloween.
Great costumes.
Jenny Burnell, I like your kids
