AI GeneratedThe Sixers secured a statement 112-106 victory over the Detroit Pistons, improving their record to 8-1. Despite a subpar performance from Tyrese Maxey, the team demonstrated depth and resilience, with standout contributions from Jalen Brown, Joel Embiid, and LeBron James to maintain their position as the best record in the league.
The Sixers just put the entire NBA on notice.
We got to talk about tonight's game,
or I suppose yesterday's game,
depending on when you're watching this,
of us defeating the Detroit Pistons in the revenge game.
And a little bit of the,
we got a little bit of malice in that palace.
What's going on, everybody?
Christian Patterson back with another episode
of Sixers Digest, the show where we are stoked.
We beat the Pistons 112-106, but I'm going to go ahead and say
that I don't think that the final score really reflected how big
of a statement victory this is.
And you're going to say, Christian, everyone,
you keep saying everyone's the biggest win.
First off, yes, but secondly, let's run through everything
that happened tonight and tell me in the comments section
if you disagree with this being the biggest of all of the wins.
First off.
First time that we've been 4-0 since
the last time we went to the championships.
We're now 8-1, the best record in the league.
LeBron, 16,000 career something, 266 other career assistings.
Go ahead.
Jalen Brown, season high, his first 30-point game as a Sixer.
He also robbed Cade Cunningham of his dignity.
on a block at the end of the game.
Kate Cunningham is no longer good at basketball after that moment.
Adem Bona got in, ACP, Dean Wade, Danfonte Simons,
that seems to be the core bench rotation that we are developing.
This was also the game where Maxey didn't look fantastic.
It took him a bit before he even got his first bucket.
This is now...
Four straight wins.
This is the revenge game.
We are on a roll in every single way that,
like I said, I think that this was, this was
as big of a win as we have had since our Cavs win.
I guess we now got to start ranking them
and not just saying that everyone is the biggest
win, but.
The road resilience from this team.
This was kind of a reverse.
I would argue that this was the inverse
of our traditional come from behinds
because this was us up big, up 16,
and then having the Pistons decide to go on a little bit of a run,
close the gap, get this one.
You know, we got as close as four within the last two minutes
and then we ended up, like I said, Jalen Brown, big defensive stop.
We ended up making the buckets, making the free throws that we needed
in order to have the necessary clutchness down the road.
I don't know why I'm struggling for the word clutch,
but Jalen Brown had himself
a signature night, also, like I said,
on the boards, across the numbers.
He was fantastic.
Stick.
The one, though, that I want to really talk,
or I guess the two, for me,
was Joel Embiid pushing back the clock a little bit
and really getting it.
I said this was going to be one of the things
that not only is key to any time that we want to win,
but for me, key to a statement win coming into this one
was getting Embiid in the paint and getting him after it.
Great rebounds, great scoring.
He was getting to the free-throw line a lot
because of the physical contact.
He's still a little loosey-goosey with the threes,
and I am all here for him continuing to shoot the ball
given that you gotta think that eventually
he'll find his stroke from beyond the arc
and get things more dialed in than he already has.
But to see him go 100% from the free-throw line
and get to the free-throw line as much as he did
was incredibly...
The LeBron James numbers also, like I said, were fantastic.
It was kind of interesting.
Edgecombe, again, a little bit of the backseat
when it comes to the actual X's and O's final deliverables on the line.
But again, I felt like he was flying all over the court in the way that
he's just continuing to be a spark plug of pure, unrelenting energy.
And all of this coming with.
Not necessarily, I'm not going to call it a bad game
from Tyrese Maxey, but not his MVP candidate self
that we have seen so far from him throughout the season.
And so to me, that though, is part of what makes
the statement of tonight's significance.
is a game, yeah, we're not going to have this
every single game.
Just, again, 30 minutes plus.
From everybody, let's go back to the box score here
so you can see all the minutes from the gang.
That's...
We're not going to get that every single night.
That's a given.
But to have a night where we talked about this,
there's going to be nights where it's the LeBron game,
it's the Maxi game, it's the Jalen Brown game,
it's this game, it's that game.
To have this one be, okay, through the first eight,
Tyrese Maxey's been absolutely shot-calling,
balling, snapping necks, cashing checks,
but now on a night where he's going to be a little bit off.
I have a Popsicle stick for my toddler there.
As a night where he's going to be a little bit off,
Bron's like, nah, dog, I'm going to go.
I'm going to go ahead and turn the clock back
Embiid gonna go ahead, turn the clock back.
And to me, that makes the statement of just saying like, hey,
this team gets each other and it's here to support each other.
And obviously, we're going to always have like
the moment there's two losses back to back,
like we'll all knives out and start pointing fingers and stuff.
But for the right here right now, as we close in on the 10 game mark,
this feels to me like the team is saying.
We're good. We're gelling. We're here.
The numbers are supporting this.
And to do this all against the alleged second-best team in the East.
The Pistons were right behind us.
And this was one where they could get their win.
This was in Detroit.
This was going to be an opportunity for them to be like,
no, look, we've got the formula figured out against the Sixers.
We're going to be a real problem for them.
None of that happened.
Like I said, the biggest lead of being up 16.
We were up big, took their best punch, we countered, we finished.
I don't know what to say without continuing to escalate this
into the even more,
I feel like maybe this ages me into a very niche spot,
but I used to watch Emeril Lagasse on...
On Food Network, back in the OG Food Network days,
and going into every commercial break, you could say,
and when we come back, we're going to kick this thing up another notch.
Somehow, I was like, how does
this man always have another notch to kick this up into?
This is what I feel like the Sixers are doing right now,
where they're just like, you know what?
Tomorrow, come on back.
We're kicking this thing up to another notch.
We're going to go.
Why doesn't your amp just stop at 10 and make 10 louder?
Because we've got 11.
We're going to keep on cranking.
We're going to keep on going up.
I'm obviously hyped off of this win.
I'll have, like, let's talk more about all of the specific numbers
when we have other games coming up.
I'll get around to the rest of it tomorrow.
We got more games coming up this week, so we can't just rest on this.
But when we hit the 10-game mark,
we have a chance to be 9-1, undefeated on the road.
The numbers are starting to add up
in a specific kind of way that make you go,
So, well, gosh darn it, man.
Maybe it's okay to start believing
that the Sixers really are as good as we thought they
were.
They are who we thought they were,
as my brain thinks singularly in memes.
Okay, that's what I got for you on tonight's
or yesterday's depending on when you're watching
this game reaction.
Thank you everybody for tuning in.
