We also have some breaking news to get to out of Bridgeport.
Police are investigating a deadly crash
that involved an e-scooter and a CPD squad car.
Yeah, so Gabriella Primus has more right now, an update for us here.
Hi, Gabby.
You know, guys, it's unfortunate
that we report a lot about scooter accidents,
but it's definitely not every day that we report
on one that involves a Chicago police squad car.
We're at Stroger Hospital.
This is where they brought that 39-year-old male rider. Doctors
tried to save his life here,
but unfortunately he passed after arriving. We do have some video
from early this morning of the scene over in the Bridgeport area.
It all unfolded around 12:30 a.m.
near 32nd and Princeton.
Police tell us two officers were on routine patrol in a marked squad
car driving northbound on Princeton as they came up to 32nd Street.
Their car collided with the man riding a stand up electric scooter.
The collision left the rider severely hurt. Paramedics worked
to stabilize him at the intersection before rushing him.
here to Stroger, but again, doctors sadly couldn't save him.
The two officers inside that squad
car were also taken to a local hospital to get checked out.
It's unclear whether those officers sustained any serious injuries,
that they'll be placed on administrative leave.
It does sound like the department's major accidents investigation unit
is going to be taking care of this.
We're working to get a little more information for you,
but I'll send it back to you for now.
All right, Gabby, appreciate you being out there.
Thank you.
