WITHOUT PRODUCT REVIEWS, SPONSORS, DONATIONS AND STICKER SALES, I’d have to go back to work and not do ANY videos, because you can’t live without any income.
The narrator repairs several pieces of equipment dropped off by his friend Alan, focusing primarily on a high-powered Billy Goat leaf blower. After diagnosing fuel delivery issues and a faulty recoil starter, the narrator successfully restores the machine to full operation, while also briefly assessing a snowblower and a pressure washer.
My boy Alan over here came to drop off some equipment,
one from his friend,
two pieces for himself, and I'll get to it when I get to it.
So my buddy Alan wants me to take a look at this thing.
This thing's a beast. This
thing is the same engine as that pressure washer
that I just fixed recently. Honda GX390. That's
a great engine. So this is what happened, okay?
You turn it on, you pull it. First of all,
The cord is halfway out.
put it
take it
off the
choke
when you
take it
off the
choke it
stalls
and the
recoil
needs
to be
fixed i think there's just something floating around in the uh bowl
because before it was
running just fine so maybe that thing
that was floating around the bowl got to the emulsion area
and now it doesn't really flow well
so i think it's just a carburetor clean fixes recoil and
that's that this is this is some machine
though huh some machine these billy goats are very expensive
It's a good piece of machinery.
Next, we have his friend's Aaron's snowblower.
It's a, looks like a 30, 30 wide is what I mean.
It's got a Briggs horizontal shaft engine, 921-022.
Anyway, he says it runs.
He just says that under load, it doesn't blow the snow far,
which means it's a carburetor clean also.
Shut off
the car.
Kinda funny, to be honest with you.
Find
the
electric
starter.
What's wrong with this muffler?
Did you notice how loud it is?
I think you might have a blown head gasket.
This is my friend Alan's pressure washer.
He's given it to me because the pump's blown.
He says engine still runs.
Also came with this nice gun and hose.
Scores.
Given I have my friend's equipment
that is much more valuable than that green tractor,
I might have to park these things in the garage
and leave the tractor outside.
Good morning. It's the next day.
I figured I'd fix my friend's billy goat first because he actually
kind of needs this in the next few days whereas it's
not very important to fix that. You have to
put your priorities in order.
So preliminarily it just seems like maybe the carburetor's dirty
so I'm just going to drop the bowl real quick
and check it out blow it out and all that see
if it runs well and after that we'll fix the recoil starter
and then this will be fixed.
Then I gotta go check out my friend's friend's snowblower too.
That sounds like it has a blown head gasket
because once you try to start it
or even try to pull start it, it makes these loud bangs like
It's like,
which is not normal.
Almost like the exhaust muffler is not really attached.
There's a broken
seal or something like that.
It's just not normal and it also doesn't start easily. I
had to use the electric start to start it.
So we'll try to address both of those things today.
And the weather, last day of this year with shorts, it's like 70.
Bobsters in the shade.
Alan also gave me his old pressure washer.
Pump is busted.
Let's see if it starts.
I just
need a
new pump,
but I'm
not the
one to
do it.
Yes, you could probably find a new pump for like 60.
But I mean, you can buy pressure washers used for like 100 online.
Probably sell the engine to somebody someday.
get a rag put it here because you know it's going to leak
because this runs sometimes probably just
a little bit dirty shut up
that see as you can see leaks gas
just fine flows to the bowl clean
ski kind of surprising i was hoping
to see some crap you know what it did come out like really
black around here so maybe whatever it was inside came out
because my rag is black now nut is clean
Just shoot up the emulsion.
That's why the straw
is bendable. That's it.
This drain plug is always
facing outward. Make sure that pin doesn't fly out.
That's it. Just clean the bowl. It could
have been some crap in there.
Could be just that easy. Hopefully.
Now let's try it. Full throttle,
choke,
fuel
is on,
switch
is on.
Something
else
going
on
with
this
because
the
minute
I
take
it
off choke, it dies. There's something in here that's wrong.
Linkage and stuff. I'll have to
All right, as you saw from time lapse,
I took the whole carburetor apart.
I didn't take the carburetor off,
but I took all this stuff off.
There was nothing wrong with the linkage
between the choke and the choke flat.
Everything was fine.
It just seemed like every time it would start on choke only,
the minute I moved choke off of choke for full throttle,
if you will, full run, full air fuel mix, it would die.
Almost like it's starving for gas.
Air cleaner showed that the pre-filter is just dust
and there was a lot of debris of this stuff
that came out. That may have contributed to it
because it wasn't getting full air. However,
that wasn't the problem.
When I took this assembly off and I took the fuel line off,
let it hang, almost no fuel was coming out.
Drops of it, you know? So as the fuel line collapsed,
or is there something blocking the petcock inside the gas tank
so how you find that out is remove
the fuel line from the petcock on the bottom
of the gas tank does it flow freely right out
of the gas tank no it didn't it was dripping
the fuel line itself was not collapsed and
if you blow through it clear through there wasn't any obstructions
in the gas line itself
So the petcock was blocked.
Usually these Honda gas tanks have like a little mesh inline filter
at the petcock. And sometimes over time,
if you leave gas in the gas tank,
ethanol will build up around that petcock area
and prevent gas from coming out of the gas tank.
So what I did was I just took some carburetor cleaner,
shoved the straw inside the gas line,
and shot air all the way through the gas tank.
So that blows whatever ethanol out of the
petcock area and dissolves around there, or you use it up.
Ideally you want to drain the
gas tank and completely blow it out,
but I had just put like half a gallon of gas in there.
Don't leave your gas in your gas tanks.
That's what happens.
So once I did that, fuel was freely flowing through the gas line,
connected it back again, ran great.
Then I proceeded to fix his recoil starter.
So removing the recoil starter line,
I could turn it another six more revolutions to tighten it.
Somebody messed with it maybe and just didn't...
coil it all the way.
You coil it all the way until you can't turn it anymore. And then you
match up the holes to where the pull rope comes out
of the holes. So now it's, this was part of
it. Now it should run great. This is one heck of a machine.
You know that? Look, this thing,
directional shooting of the air. It's awesome.
You know, these things cost like 2,500 bucks.
Crazy. Never get me to spend 2,500 bucks on this thing. Anyway.
Switch is on. Choke is on.
Gas is on. Full throttle.
New recoil starter. Off choke.
Go
into
those
bushes
and
pull
those
leaves
back
out
again.
This is so fun.
Absolutely
amazing.
You can get rid
of the leaves off
your yard
in two seconds.
Of course, I blew it all to the street,
so I'm going to have to clean that up.
All right.
as you saw this thing was so strong that it blew all
the leaves off of my lawn at full throttle
and it went so far that it covered my neighbor's yard
and he had just cleared his lawn too so i
felt really bad there was a ton of leaves on the street
so i had to whip out my excuse me while i
whip this out tractor with a bagger
and i went nuts it was a lot of fun easy to get carried away
That way.
it actually stopped a couple of times
and i couldn't figure out why and then finally i just
took off the fuel line and blew into the fuel line kind
of like how we fix this because stuff gets
trapped at the petcock underneath the gas tank
and a lot of crap was there so i just blew it out
changed the fuel filter it was pretty clogged
and then it started running great
So sometimes you just have to know how to troubleshoot things.
Why did the engine stop?
Well, because it was starving for fuel.
Check the fuel lines on the petcock.
So we fixed basically two fuel clogs today.
This thing needed a little bit of a carburetor clean,
but mainly it was exactly the same problem.
Petcock was clogged with ethanol buildup.
Fixed a recoil starter on this thing.
This thing's a beast!
I love it, except it's so powerful
that it'll blow all the leaves to your neighbor's yard.
You can't really control it
unless you mess with the throttle.
But then why have such a strong machine
if you can't just blow like crazy, you know?
That's what she said.
Anyway, this is ready for my friend, Alan.
Really easy fix.
I won't charge him because he's my bro.
And he gives me ammo once in a while.
Get to the snowblower another time.
Hope you guys enjoyed the video.
Remember to like, share, and subscribe
so I can continue to bring you blowing videos.
Have a great day.
We'll see you guys next time.
Oh, mowers and blowers.
Of course, as long as I was out here,
I decided I may as well mow my lawn.
You know, that mower does a really good job.
Let's go, Jerry.
Go.
Mowers
and
blowers.
