Click 'SHOW MORE' for full video description and links. In this video I take a look at my Thrunite TH10 and TH20 head mounted flashlights and explain the differences between them. There is also a short side by side test to show brightness differences between the two - that didn't come out as good as I had hoped since my camcorder doesn't have a particularly good light chip in it but hopefully you can take something useful from that part of the video.
If you've enjoyed this video please check out the playlists on my channel for hundreds more - on a variety of subjects. Feel free to share or link any of my videos on facebook, twitter, forums etc. for the benefit of anyone you think may also enjoy watching. See you next time. Pondguru
Hello there, welcome back.
In this video, I'm very, very quickly going to tell you the differences
between the ThruNite TH10 and the ThruNite TH20 headlamps.
Basically, I'm going to run down the differences in the construction
and also the power and the outputs of these particular flashlights.
And then I'm going to do a side-by-side where I walk a set route,
one time wearing the TH10 and the other time wearing the TH20.
So you can get some sort of visual representation
of how powerful they are at night.
I'll start with the TH10 because that was the first one that I got.
It's got a nice comfortable elastic strap which keeps it on your head.
That's actually slackened off over the 18 months
or 2 years that I've had it.
So I keep needing to tighten it up
because I wear this pretty much every night when I'm travelling
from my house to my cabin in the far end of my garden.
This one has various outputs,
right from Firefly, which seems to last forever.
That's really if you get lost in a ridiculously dark cave
with no sunlight or moonlight at all,
and need to navigate over a long period of time before you get rescued.
Right up to Turbo, so that's the Turbo.
Now if you go for the cool white version,
which is quite an icy cold looking white light output,
you get 825 lumens on the maximum output.
And if you go for the neutral white version, you get 750 lumens.
That's more of like a yellowy, more natural looking light.
You can identify better colours with the cool white.
So really there's two choices there, just in the same flashlight.
Either version of the light is very, very good.
It's comfortable to wear, it's waterproof, it's shockproof, etc, etc.
And this one takes the 18650 battery,
which is a real powerhouse of a battery.
This particular one's 3400 milliamp hours.
But it'll also take two CR123 batteries,
which are little fat stubby ones you just
pack those in.
Now one important safety tip,
and this was pointed out to me by Sandy from Wilshireman
channel, I'll put the link to his channel in the video description.
When you're travelling and you've got
this packed away in your backpack, just give that
a couple of turns, give that cap a couple of turns off.
Which means that if this button's depressed,
the light won't go on until you tighten it
The last thing you want is to arrive on site in the night
and find out you've got no light.
The battery's dead. That's a very good tip.
Okay, moving on to the TH20. That's a lot smaller.
It's also quite a bit cheaper, and it takes a different battery.
This one just takes a normal AA battery.
I'm sure everybody's familiar with those.
Now, the TH20 is 525 lumens, so it's, what's that,
about three-fifths of the output of the TH10.
Which is quite remarkable from an AA battery and 500
and odd lumens is very very bright as you'll see later.
This one has the on off on the side.
Now this one is infinitely adjustable it hasn't got like set
outputs so when you've got it on and then you hold
this button in you watch it get brighter and
brighter and brighter until it flashes
to let you know that's as bright as it's going to go
and you press it again and it dims all the way back down.
Not quite sure how it does that but
But it's very intelligent and like the TH10
When you switch it off and then back on again,
it'll come back on with the same light output.
This one's also got the elastic strap to keep it in place.
You'll notice it hasn't got the one up the middle.
That's because this is a lot lighter.
It doesn't need that one up the middle.
And if I was jogging, not that I'm a jogger,
this would be the one I would go for because this is a lot lighter.
Although the TH10 is an excellent light, the minute you start to run,
the weight of this does pull down a little bit
and you end up with it in your face.
which would be no good for jogging.
This one on the other hand stays in place really really well,
that's not going anywhere.
So you've got two waterproof, shockproof, very very comfortable
to wear outdoor flashlights. Obviously the TH10 with a bigger battery,
much bigger storage capacity is going to last a hell of a lot longer.
But with the TH20 you do have the convenience of lightness,
it is more comfortable to wear as well,
and you've got that infinitely adjustable output for the light.
So they're very different, but very similar.
So there you go, you've got two very,
very good flashlights from ThruNight.
As far as I'm aware, they have never made a bad flashlight.
I'm sure I'll see one one day,
but I've been impressed with every ThruNight flashlight that I've had.
And I've had quite a few. They're very, very good.
So now we'll do the side-by-side.
I'll split the screen down the middle.
Both of them will be on the highest output,
so we'll have 825 lumens and 525 lumens.
Hopefully I'll get this course just about right,
and you'll be looking in the same direction at the same time.
But doing a side-by-side video when you're actually filming it twice
and expecting everything to marry up is very, very difficult.
So please forgive me if this doesn't work out.
There you go, that seemed to work out pretty well.
If you're interested in either
of these flashlights, I would recommend both.
Not that you need both of them,
but I would recommend them both individually.
Check the video description, I've got worldwide links to Amazon.
No matter what country you're in,
it'll take you to your nearest Amazon store.
Thanks very
much for
watching, see
you next time.
Well, thanks for staying right till the end.
One person's going to be rewarded for that.
We're going to give something away.
What could we possibly give away?
My ThruNite TH20, in full working order, not brand new,
not used a whole amount, but it's still a little bit mucky,
slightly worn, still works perfectly,
and it comes with an extra rubber, two spare seals, the instructions,
but most importantly, a cardboard box and an elastic band.
Here you go, it all fits in that box.
and because this one is light
and there's no sharp objects like knives or anything in this
particular giveaway i can send this one anywhere in the world
so this giveaway is open to everybody
all you have to do is share this video on a forum
on a facebook group on a google plus group
uh on a twitter group if they have them there did i mention facebook
i don't know my memory's awful just share it
on some group page put the link
In the comments section and you're eligible to win,
I'm going to make this one fairly short-lived.
So when this video gets to 500 views, I'll pick the winner.
So if you're watching this video after it's reached 500 views,
don't bother entering.
Now the reason I'm only going to do it after 500 views
is like review sort of information videos tend not to get many views.
At least on my channel, I don't anyway,
and if I pick the winner after 500 views, that gives the
people who are subscribed and also the people
who have their notifications turned on the best chance
of winning. So that's why I'm doing it,
for those people who watch the videos early on
and support the channel.
Thanks very much for watching, I'll see you next time.
