I really enjoyed having Andy here in the frozen North and although the fishing was damn hard he still made a decent video from his short time here - enjoy. Andy's channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/Andysfishing

Andy from \"Andy's Fishing\" visits Richard (The Pond Guru) in Northern England for a fishing trip. After a frustrating experience at a public fishery, the pair moves to Richard's private pond, where they successfully catch several large rainbow trout despite the freezing weather.
Hello there, welcome back.
In this video I'm going to show you footage that is
only partially mine.
This is actually a video that was uploaded by Andy from Andy's Fishing
and recently I had the pleasure of having him
at my house for a couple of days and a couple
of nights and we went on a couple of fishing trips
with varying success. It was very very cold
but he enjoyed himself
and I really enjoyed having him here.
So, he got the best footage, he made the best video,
and I said, look, can I just upload your video instead
of trying to pull together bits of nonsense from my camera.
So this is all Andy's video, please enjoy,
thanks very much for watching, and I'll see you in the next video.
Hey everyone it's Andy from Andy's Fishing here.
I'm in England still, I've actually gone to the north.
And that's a children's football match there.
My friend Richard, he's from Ponguru, he's a channel on YouTube.
He said yep come on over, we'll do some fishing. So we're just watching
his son's game and then we'll go fishing this afternoon.
Yeah my trip's going pretty well.
I've been actually pretty amazed with the fishing so far.
If you haven't been watching, check out the last few episodes,
we've got some really nice pike, I've got onto some carp
on the surface, now much more to come from this trip.
So this is Richard I was talking about earlier,
we were just at his son's game, he did pretty well didn't he?
He scored the most awesome goal I've seen him score, it was incredible.
Yeah, he got control of the ball, fought off two defenders and then hit
the other corner of the goal and got in, so yeah, good on you James.
Where are we now?
We are at Knitsley Mill fishery.
And apparently it's got some decent rainbow trout in,
but time will tell.
Yeah, and everyone keeps saying it's not a bad day,
it's lovely, I'm going to put my second jumper on shortly.
I noticed you just put your jumper on. Yeah, you never know.
So, but yeah, what happened for a nice trout?
Oh, this is really cool. It's actually a,
I don't know about working mill, but it's definitely spinning.
They used to use mill power.
To do all sorts of things. In Germany I know they used
to use them for making bread in the milling mills.
Other places they've sawn timber with them but that's cool.
All you need is a little tiny stream like that.
I can't rate and talk.
What are you talking about?
It's a multitasker.
There's quite a few people out already. We got one, two, three,
four, five. Nice clear water.
It makes the fish a little harder to catch if it's clear.
So there's these little platforms here
and I think there's three different lakes.
Richard's got the the other platform just over there.
This lake is fly fishing only
and we've paid 10 pounds for four hours fishing and
we've paid an extra pound
because there's a tag fish in here that's worth 350 pounds.
So...
Give it a shot, we might catch that one if we can.
I can see the fish swimming around here.
I will use a dry fly and target the fish I can see swimming.
Here he
comes,
first
cast.
He just didn't want it.
He did come and have a look at it.
How often do you fish in here?
I'm here nearly every day,
the boss is away so I'm emptying the safe and all that.
Yeah and have a bit of fish as well you know. Yeah yeah why not?
Someone's got to do it you know. Encourage the other punters to catch.
Yeah I try to, I try to tell them what they're using.
Yeah yeah. Okay I see one cruising,
it's not a bad one actually,
Okay that's in front of him,
here he comes, here he comes,
he's looking at it, looking at it.
He has refused me, I need to change flies here, that is the second one.
He has come right over to it and ignored it.
I definitely don't want that fly that I have got on.
He just ignored it three times.
I am on my third fly that I have changed to.
I have cast near a few fish and got refusal after refusal.
I might see how Richard is going.
How are you going Richard?
I have had three look at the flies.
That is three more than I have had look at the fly.
As one of your countrymen would say.
I've had three enquiries, nothing's stuck.
And I haven't had an opportunity to kiss a fish.
No.
Always taking the piss.
See him? There's one just here.
There's no shortage of them,
they're just very fussy about what they eat.
There's one right here at the end
of your line, just right down the bottom.
Probably eating snails and stuff.
See him there? Yeah.
See if we can get a shot of him with the camera.
Yeah, probably not going to see that Polaroiding.
He's right down there.
All right, thanks for that Richard.
I'm going to go and try this fly.
Yep, good luck.
Thank you.
And I've got a special guest
who's come a very long way to join me.
Here I am.
What's going on?
I saw you pull the camera out.
Frightened the crap out of us there.
That's what we Aussies like to do.
Anybody who doesn't know this fella hasn't lived.
It's Andy from Andy's Fishing Channel.
And today we're going to try and catch some fish for you.
Oh, he's right next to you there on the left.
Dude, two metres to the left of that car.
That's right in front of you.
Yeah, he ignored that.
Yes, definitely a fish take there.
So we're just going to try
a different location.
That pond didn't work at all for us.
And we'll just see what we can find.
Yeah, do you know, Andy, we were the only people to blank.
We must be pretty bad fishermen.
We're superstars.
No doubt about that.
So I've seen you've taken your jumper off,
and you're not wearing a beanie or anything like that.
How do you find this?
I'm freezing, it's like less than 10 degrees isn't it?
It's warmed up now, compared to what it was.
That's terrible!
I know of a very good place Andy, where you'll definitely catch fish.
Yeah okay, even on a day like that, it's windy and cold and...
Even if it was snowing.
Yeah okay cool, let's go there.
Feels like I've been walking around in circles,
do you get that same feeling?
Yeah, a lot of the places are very similar though, you know.
There's not much variation in the woods here.
Well...
That place looks as good as any. That sounds like one of your videos.
Yes.
I recognize the place and normally I wouldn't let anybody fish there.
I'll make an exception.
Thank you. It's actually Richard's private pond
so we're in for some fish very shortly.
I mentioned before that Richard is The Pond Guru, that's his channel.
And you obviously built your own pond.
You've got some cool videos on how to build ponds.
I have, but unfortunately when we built this one,
I didn't have a video camera.
And it's probably one of your biggest on the ceiling.
It is. It's definitely the most ambitious project.
But unfortunately, it was in the days before phones had cameras.
So I just wanted to show you guys, we're still fly fishing,
and we're using quite big flies.
Sorry about that Richard, I was putting that in front of your face.
Yeah, quite big flies.
Richard, I think you have a similar one on, a muddler type fly.
Yeah, yours is a muddler.
And what's yours?
Mine is a sedge.
Oh, okay, yep.
It's really just spun deer hair.
It looks pretty much like a trout pellet as well, you know.
I wasn't going to mention the trout pellets.
Because if we get desperate,
there's a bin over here that's full of trout pellets.
But we're going to go fly. We're going to catch more fly.
Yeah.
Like I should be able to roll cast almost all the way across there.
Take straight away, first cast, I didn't think I would get
that excited knowing it is fish that have been in your pond and fed.
I just got excited.
The thing is apart from four of them, they have never been fished for.
Not many have caught four fish in the pond.
They are trying conditions at the moment, I am freezing.
Noses running, wind blowing, hard to see the fly.
I am surprised the fish are coming up to the surface at all.
I am going to do longer pauses, let them find it,
the water is quite dirty in here.
Oh I missed him,
I felt him but I did not get the hook in.
Oh there is another one,
swirl it, come on fish,
we are going off now.
Got him yes, and he is stuck.
Alright.
That looked very thick fish that one.
That one.
Good on.
Yep.
He is going under the bridge, oh he is running that one.
I think this one is a rainbow, he is a feisty one this one.
Oh yeah nice fish, very nice fish.
I'll show you the fly I put
on just actually it's only a second cast on this fly.
Oh yeah and this is a better fish than the last one.
You think that one's bigger?
I think it is yeah, yeah it's not a bad fish at all.
Definitely got more go, oh yeah there we go.
I think he's ready to come in,
well he's going into the boathouse.
He's right in the boathouse, you get him?
Got him, nice. Good looking fish that one.
Yeah, nice colours on him. Healthy.
Dark as a belt there isn't it?
Yeah, you're impressed with the fishness of it?
Yeah.
That's the fly, Mrs Simpson we call that.
Just a bunch of feathers on a hook.
Guys, come on.
Very nice looking trout out of your pond.
Absolute beauty.
Put it back in the water.
He wasn't waiting.
We caught him.
Do you think the lens is wide enough
to get my ample backside onto that?
I'm starting to have a bit of fun.
.
You'd be surprised.
There we go.
.
Okay, I think I'm going to be a little bit
How deep is this pond? Oh wow, that's a fair bit of water.
speedier.
.
You want to do it, Jeff?
.
.
.
Oh, there you go. Nice take.
.
.
Okay.
.
Well, that's it for now.
.
We'll see you next time.
.
Bye.
Well done.
.
Oh, and the drag's going off and everything.
.
.
.
.
.
.
You still got him? Yeah, yeah, yeah, cool, cool.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
He's got your camera rolling as well oh he's
a nice fish yeah yeah let me get this out of the
road for you do you like the sound of that let's
see where's your fish your fish is all the way
down there wow he is i think
that was your daughter yeah okay i'm coming yeah i'll get
the net for you got him yes they're um pretty
tough it's definitely one of the blues yeah
yep he should be right where's the net
andy's just gone inside to get his phone
And I've just hooked into another one.
There you go, I think this is one of the blues.
It's not particularly blue, but it's a damn big fish.
I'm happy with that.
It's not as big as yours.
No, but it's a very, very nice fish.
Yeah, yeah.
Let's get him back.
All right.
Beautiful.
So it's been a pretty cold and windy fishing session,
but we got a couple of nice fish in the end.
And thank you to Richard.
No problem at all.
Appreciate you showing me around.
Anytime.
I feel as if I've got to apologise about the weather.
Oh no, no, I kind of got here late in the season
and this is what you expect I guess.
And as a thank you, I've got a pair of sunglasses for you.
My sponsor Makos said here's a bunch of sunglasses.
Thank you for showing me around.
As you know, I don't have any good sunglasses.
I was using my cycling glasses yesterday.
Yeah, they're polarized, so hopefully you can get some pike
or some trout when the water clears up.
I'll be able to see the fish now.
Thank you very much.
No worries. Thank you.
Great to meet you.
Yeah, no, it's really good.
Rich has actually been a mentor of mine.
No, no, no, I'm serious.
I am serious.
I'm serious, when I started YouTube I had...
I think five six thousand subscribers
or something and Richard was one of the guys that
replied to me, gave me help,
kept me motivated and I appreciate that so yeah thanks.
Thank you very much, I'm just pleased that you've gone
because that's where you deserve to be.
Get a shot of you wearing the new sunnies.
Look at that, very suave.
Nice work. If you haven't subscribed please subscribe.
Check out Richard's channel.
Check out Andy's channel. Yeah that's it thank you.
Now Andy you've got a open invitation to
come back whenever you want.

just swing by and we'll get the kettle on for you.
If you've enjoyed this video then you will
will certainly enjoy Andy's channel it
is absolutely excellent and I think in
the top 100
Fishing channels on YouTube, it was in the top 10 as far as I know.
