http://www.filterpro.co.uk - [email protected] - 07772848730 (Richard) This is a short video to show some of the experimental plec / cichlid / shrimp caves we have made but we need your help to develop the finished designs. If you have any suggestions / ideas then we are very willing to listen. Please let us know what you would require regarding the preferred length, internal hole diameter, colour and external finish (rough or smooth) for the species you are keeping / breeding. It would really help if you added a time stamp in your comment. A great review video from Aquarium Delirium: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNs8Fc2ML38 The Biohome material is perfect for beneficial bacteria to colonize, the rough finish is great for corals and plants to grow into and the addition of a Biohome cave will have a valuable contribution towards the filtering capacity of your aquarium system.
If you are a breeder of plecs / cichlids / shrimps please contact us and we can send you free samples in exchange for user feedback prior to settling on final designs and full production.
Later this year there will be a limited supply of ready planted caves (Jave Fern) available on the FilterPro website.
Hi there, in this video I'm asking for your help
to help us to develop a series of caves for plecs
and cichlids that will suit your situation.
What we want to do is present you with a few
of the prototypes,
you tell us what you think and then we'll take that a step further and
actually start producing them for you.
The caves are being made from the biohome material.
Which, I mean, if you don't know now, it is a totally natural material.
It allows plants to grow on top of it,
which is a massive bonus for caves and so on.
It's breathable, it supports aerobic and anaerobic bacteria,
and it is the most natural substance for anything to grow on,
or potentially anything to breed in.
Is that wall big enough? Does it need to be bigger?
Are the caves big enough? Do you want to see an open end? Closed end?
Let us know in the comments.
This one is a grey open end cave.
Again, just stack those on top of each other if you wanted to.
Let us know whether you want an open end or a closed end.
That one is the closed end version.
Again, is the length good?
Is the hole size good?
Let us know.
Now this one is the brown version.
It might not come out very well on the video,
but it's certainly more brown than the grey.
And that one...
Maybe if we could drill some holes in the top it could
be used in a bio-orb. Let me show you.
Now some of them are bigger.
This one is classed as red one hole.
See the hole drilled in there?
So if you've got that in a cichlid tank
or marine tank I can pretty much imagine that just with
corals growing out the top of it and fish living inside it,
shrimps and all that sort of thing.
I think they would like that but do you like it?
Now this one is like grey and purple like a mix
And the side hole actually has a plug.
Now, the plugs were made with the intention of rooting a plant
or a coral on here
and then just plugging it in.
I don't know whether that is necessary
because a plant or a coral would just adhere to this straight away
with it being a very natural material.
Again, let us know what you think.
And then as far as holes go, we've got one here.
With four different holes and this one's actually got the plugs in.
Do you need those? Let us know.
A nice, holey, very natural cave
hideaway for plex, marine fish,
shrimps, all sorts. And that's pretty big.
Is it too big? Not big enough? Let us know.
If you have a pair of plecs in a tank, that,
maybe it's with a java fern planted on the top.
So, again, if you're a plec breeder,
or you know people
who are please pass these details on from this video and we will give
samples out to people
who want to test them for us to see just how good these are obviously
because they're just reasonably short
and cut to size they're not going to be very expensive
and we also have a smooth exterior version again
you can stack them up suitable for cichlids plecs
Obviously all of the interior parts of these are smooth
because you don't want somewhere rough
for a fish to lay its eggs,
but the outer parts are a choice of rough or smooth. And lastly we've
got the only one that we've decided on as a production piece,
so this one is capable of
going into full production now.
A very rough texture on the outside, it looks so natural.
A nice big opening and this one actually has a mould
so we can churn these out and make them
right now. And because most fish don't have
a reverse gear I can imagine Plex going into there,
it's pretty wide, being able to turn around,
come back out, head facing outwards and defend
their eggs. That's why
this one is in production
or capable of going
into production now. All of
All of these can be available in different colours.
So we've got grey.
Red, brown, purple, red-brown mix, and grey-purple mix.
You've probably seen all of those colours here,
and I would appreciate it if there was anything that took your fancy,
or anything you think you would like
to see from various points of this video,
if you could put timestamps in your comment.
That would help greatly.
You know, if you thought maybe something
at 0311 in this video, for example.
was good or could do with a little bit
of tweaking just put that in the video like this
on the bottom there in that sort of format
and that'll allow us when we go and look at the
comments to go bang we can go straight to that point in the video
and see exactly the one that
you're talking about. Plex, shrimps,
cichlids if you breed any of those or you're a part of some
some sort of Facebook group or
Fishkeeping Society
or club let us know we will send you some of these to test
because we don't want to put them
into production until we get the feedback from you guys.
to let us know exactly what you need we don't want
to make a balls of it we don't want to just
produce something that looks great
but isn't necessarily useful for whatever it is you're
keeping the most popular ones will be put
into production for you guys to buy very shortly in
the future and they will not cost the earth they will
be possibly even cheaper than some of the
Some of the ones you can buy online.
Actually, for example,
Now that is a ceramic one.
I bought it on eBay and the pictures looked absolutely fantastic.
I was thinking well you know
if we're producing caves
and there's somebody already producing something that looks great
it's going to be a bit of an uphill struggle
but that is absolutely tiny compared to these.
You know it's not much use and it was very expensive
and it took about two and a half
weeks to arrive and that'll never happen with these.
You help us to make the most
Most awesome Plek Caves, we will help you.
