Crazy Canoeists Paddle World's Largest Tide (Shubenacadie, NS)

Today we're going to attempt to paddle the largest tides in the world. We're on the Bay of Fundy where the tides change over 50 feet. This happens because the unique shape of the bay produces waves and sloshing that is nearly synchronized with the tides, creating a supercharged surge of water. These conditions create a phenomenon known as the tidal bore, which is a large wavefront that is violently pushed into the bay and up its rivers. We have a big crew of guys and girls here today. I think we have six canoes. It's pretty exciting. I don't know what to expect at all. The tides are right now classified as extreme, so they're going to be as big as they possibly can be. I'll probably go about 35k today, I think. 30k? Yeah, with a 14 and a half meter tide, so I don't really know what any of that means. We are patiently waiting for the tide to turn. It's kind of eerie. It's really windy. The water is very murky brown, you can't see much, and we're all just kind of waiting for something to happen. It doesn't mean anything to drown, right? I don't want to see a man-eater. I don't want to send this thing down a man-eater. Yeah, no, you don't. We're getting an awful lot of air out there. That's where the fun begins. Are those waves? I would assume so. Paddle forward! Paddle hard? Let's get over to these ones. We almost got T-boned by that zodiac. What happened there? I don't know. I looked behind me and they were like right there. How was that? Wow. Was that good? I needed that.
