U.S. Sen. Jim Risch speaks in Meridian on election night
Nov 4, 2026
Oh, Dorothy,
thank you so much.
Vicki, come on up here.
Jason, Jay, Jordan.
Come on, get on up here, guys.
Oh, and Jesse.
Get all these people up here.
All right.
Oh, hey.
You can't do that.
Come on up here.
Come on up.
Jay, come on up.
Go make it up here.
Come on.
Here we go.
Hey, how would you people like some good news?
Thank you!
Listen carefully.
This is hard to follow.
Idaho is still Idaho when you really
really appreciate living here in Idaho I
wish all of you could spend a day
or two in my shoes back there and you'd see how
crazy this country can
be and tonight they're showing some of the craziness
it's a slip it out but you know what the thing waxes
and it wanes back and forth
Vicki and I have done a little bit of this together.
You know, the election is held on the first Tuesday after
the first Monday in November, right?
Have you got that right?
And today is November the 3rd.
Interestingly enough, on November the 3rd of 1970,
the election was also held on November 3rd.
And on that day...
I walked up to this microphone,
so exactly 56 years ago, to the day, to the hour,
Vicki and I walked up to this microphone, and I said,
thank you for electing me prosecuting attorney.
Thank you very much.
Now, that was 38 elections ago.
So, 58 years together, and 38 elections.
Cheers.
Cheers.
You know, the pendulum swings back and forth.
It will swing again.
And right now, we have a delegation
in Idaho that knows how to fight for Idaho.
We've served in the minority before.
We've had a lot of experience
in that between the Obama and Biden years.
We've served in the majority.
We know how to do this.
We can still take care of Idaho.
My friends, thank God
when you go to bed tonight that you live in Idaho.
And you live in the United States of America.
God bless you all.
