In todays video we we'll talk about the Harem which is in Topkapi.The Harem, build at the end of the 16th century, was a labyrinth consisting of around 300 magnificently tiled rooms, connected by courtyards and fountain gardens. At its height, it was home (or prison) to over 1.000 harem women, children and black eunuchs.The harem was the ultimate symbol of the Sultan's power.
There are approximately 300 rooms inside the Harem. unfortunately only a handful are open to the public.
Topkapi Palace Ticket Price 2021
Topkapi Palace ticket price is 100 Turkish Liras as of 2021. An extra fee of 70 TL is required to visit the Harem section. Children under 8 years old are free of charge. Istanbul Museum Pass is valid at Topkapi Palace.

and today we'll be going to harem which is located in Topkapi

or the Horse Ramp which
the sultans of the Ottoman Empire used to leave the palace in disguise
Sultans used this road leaving the palace in disguise,
not to be recognised.
Sometimes they were leaving on horses,
that is why it was called the Grand Ride.
According to another historian,
they loved to go out and join the crowds.
These trips were like inspections of the public
and residents should not know that
the sultan left the palace,
so secretly the sultans were using the road to enter the cities.
This is the area where the black eunuchs protected the palace
and controlled every entrance to the harem.
The black eunuchs were in charge of protecting the women in the harem.
This
is the
apartment
where
the women
whose
sons
ended up
claiming
the
throne
and
earned
the title
of Queen
Mother,
which
is the
highest
title in
the harem.
These baths were built by the imperial architect Sinan under
the orders of Sultan Murad III in 1588
and have been restored in different centuries where
also some areas were added to this complex.
It is located between the private chambers of Sultan Murad III
and the bath was built
after 1585 by the architect Davut Aga
and underwent many changes of the centuries.
It served as the Sultan's venue for ceremonies
and audiences and were the imperial household
for weddings, birth ceremonies and religious holidays.
Its dome is the largest one in all of the Topkapi Palace.
