I want to start with the Chargers
and what you think happens going forward in LA, because
I mean, it's one thing to open up 0-7 straight up,
but to go 0-7 against the spread shows
that not even Vegas can figure out just how bad this Chargers team is.
And in that spot coming off of bye week.
Historically speaking,
teams after week five that were winless off of bye week were covering
at a pretty significant, like 75% clip,
they were covering the next game and they get worked
by the Rams.
They lose, they don't cover.
What's the future in LA for the Chargers?
Well, first of all, I was on the Rams minus six and a half.
I said all week, this line isn't big enough.
The only reason the Rams are not favored by more
is because they played down into their competition.
So that risk is definitely inherently in there.
So I thought the Rams are going to absolutely just bring them
to the woodshed the entire time.
And so like that, look, the bolts are just a freaking mess, dude.
I think they're going to ride this for the rest
of the season with Harbaugh McDaniel because the backup is.
Do you think Adam Gase, who's the passing game specialist,
is going to do even better?
He's a total dumpster fire.
I mean, good Lord, don't let that man near anything white and powdery,
by the way.
But it's a conversation for a different day.
But so the Colts, I mean, the Chargers,
I just think they're an absolute and total dumpster fire, man.
I think the question is, have we seen enough with Harbaugh
to where you retool yet again,
or is it time we need a fresh voice in the locker room?
I know Harbaugh is a winner.
He's been a winner and stuff like that.
But again, this is kind of one of those situations,
like it's kind of like the Temu version of the Bills
where it's like, okay, we've won some games.
Can we get a coach to get us over the hump?
And now like, but this is also a team
that's kind of in flux.
It's like, what do you do with this offense?
What do you do with this offensive line?
What do you do with this defense?
You've got a lot of expensive
and very often hurt pieces on it.
I think the Chargers, just
because of how their coaching staff is assembled,
will ride this the rest of the season.
The way that I see this playing out, Peralt, I think Harbaugh is fired.
I think McDaniel is fired.
I think what makes the most sense
and honestly could be a really good fit
is reuniting Justin Herbert with Shane Steichen.
Wow.
So.
What does that look like from a package perspective?
Like, what are we, I mean, is Herbert worth a first-round pick?
I mean, I think Shane's going to get fired by the Colts.
So you think Shane gets fired, and then Shane winds up as the OC in LA?
Yep.
I think he's going to be the head coach.
I think the Bolts could name him the head coach.
So Steichen gets fired.
Wow.
You think Shane Steichen gets fired by the Colts,
and the Chargers hire Shane Steichen as their head coach?
I mean, what are the better options?
If you're looking, if the Bolts are not saying,
okay, we need to tear this down and we're
just going to trade Justin Herbert.
If that's how out they go, then fine.
Then all cards are off the table.
Then it's like, do they go the Dolphins route
and really just truly just rip it all the
way the frick down?
You have parts and pieces here.
Like you still have Rashawn Slater.
You still have Joe Alt.
You still got Ladd McConkey and Marion Hampton.
They're still talented players.
I know Ladd has had...
Lots of trouble staying healthy.
Amari and Hampton's not being utilized at all properly this year.
So what does that look like?
And I think if you're trying to marry this between,
I don't think this is going to be a franchise
that fully just throws in the towel
and gives up on Justin Herbert.
I just don't think that they're probably there yet.
So if that's the case,
then we're going the rehab route yet again for Justin Herbert.
And if we're going to do that, and the front office does that.
And the ownership wants to do that.
What makes the most sense? Also based off of the landscape.
Like, are you going to bring in somebody like
a Declan Doyle and stuff like that?
Are you going to try to give him the bag or like,
you know, I'm not going to say they're
moving on from him, but Baltimore is another team that's like,
you know, what do they do
over the next for the rest of the season?
Are they going to be now sellers at the deadline?
So, I mean, how do you see this situation playing out?
I think they're in a real tough spot.
I think that they have to figure out first and foremost,
whether or not you believe that
Harbaugh is still an NFL head coach.
Because I think there's folks in Michigan
that are really hoping that Harbaugh gets
fired and that Michigan would love to go
a la Jimbo Fisher going back to Florida State
that they would go and take Harbaugh back
and put him as the head coach in Michigan.
So I think that draw and that weight is.
Big in there.
So I think there may be some mutually parting of the ways.
If the Michigan job were to open back up again,
I think maybe Harbaugh goes back to the place
where he won a national championship
and maybe he's just relating better to college kids
than he is to NFL players.
I think I am always picking the player over the coach.
