Iran Allows India, China & Others through Hormuz: What It Means for Oil & Trade | Breaking News

Breaking news: Iran has granted exemptions for ships from India, China, Iraq, and Qatar, allowing them free passage through the Strait of Hormuz. This development marks a significant moment in the ongoing tensions in West Asia, particularly for India.
Iran has reportedly exempted ships from India, China, Iraq and Qatar from transit restrictions in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, according to a senior Iranian lawmaker. The statement was made by Amir Hayat Moqaddam, deputy chairman of Iran’s parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, who said vessels from the four countries were being allowed to pass through the waterway.
The lawmaker said the arrangements reflect mutual interests. He claimed that facilitating Indian ships would help Iran import medicines from India, while the exemption for Chinese vessels was aimed at securing Beijing’s political support. He also said Iran collects transit fees from Indian and Chinese ships, while Qatari vessels are allowed through without charges. He did not clarify whether Iraqi vessels pay fees.
