AI GeneratedA cold front has brought cooler, drier air and beneficial rainfall to the region. While temperatures remained slightly higher than expected today, dew points have dropped significantly, creating more comfortable conditions. The forecast predicts a continued trend of mild temperatures, low allergy levels, and a second weak cold front arriving late Thursday to maintain below-average temperatures.
That cold front came through last night into the morning
and we got some storms from it
and of course now we're getting some cooler and drier air.
Now we didn't get as cool as we thought we would today.
We did still hit 82 degrees because we anticipated being in the 70s.
Got a little warmer than that but not bad especially
with less humidity. At this point those numbers are going down
so this is where we're at currently.
75 in Atlanta right now, 75 in Burnet, it's 79 in San Marcos.
82 in Bastrop, 80 in Giddings, 78 here in Austin,
78 in Round Rock, 80 over in Hutto, 80 over at the airport.
Now, compared to 24 hours ago, we are technically cooler.
We're down about 5 degrees, a little less than that,
depending on where you are.
So there has been some changes.
You're going to notice it more tomorrow
and these next couple of nights.
Our dew points, though, those have gone down.
So before, we were staying in that zone where we could feel it
a little bit, where you're kind of close to the 65 degrees and above.
Now we've got 40s and 50s.
Those numbers, those are comfortable.
This is a good comparison though,
just to show you what we're doing.
So this is last week and all of our dew points,
and they were staying mostly in the humid and muggy range.
And now today we dropped significantly
and we're actually going to stay pretty good.
You might notice a little spike here.
There's some moisture coming ahead of another cold front
that's headed our way.
And that will take us back down again
into the comfortable zone and make us a little cooler.
Now, we still have some time to go out there and vote.
If you haven't done it yet, you've got a couple more hours.
So I just wanted to give you a quick little forecast on that.
Our temperatures at this point going to drop into the 70s.
Once you get towards the end of it,
it does look like we might be heading towards those upper 60s.
So if you're like me, maybe you want a little jacket.
But overall, it's looking nice.
You've got a lot of sunshine going
on and it feels pretty good out there.
Our sky's quiet right now.
We've got nothing going on up overhead.
But I'm going to back this up to show you the storms
that came in last night into the morning.
So across the entire region,
we did see at least some showers and definitely some thunderstorms.
That all came to an end by the afternoon.
But it brought with it some rainfall and we needed that.
We like it.
So most of us seeing around the inch or less, that's the blue.
But if you're in any of this green,
it means you did make it over the inch mark.
At this point, though, it is quiet out there.
Matt Hyde Ford camera behind me here.
Lots of blue skies.
So that front is way past us
and we're just dealing with all of the nice benefits.
And we're going to keep feeling those tomorrow.
Actually, you're going to feel a bit more also.
Tomorrow morning, so we're going to drop
into the 50s for our morning lows.
So a little cooler, and then we stay
in those 70s for our afternoon high tomorrow.
Our allergy report also looking pretty good.
Ragweed, mold, and grass are now at low levels.
Our winds, those have calmed down because when the front approached us,
we saw some gusty winds coming through.
Now we're just going to keep them around 5, 10 miles per hour.
That's how it's going to be.
Through the next couple of days and
through the next couple of days,
we stay pretty nice.
So I mentioned that tomorrow we're
cooler mid 70s.
We start to warm up on Thursday and
as I told you though,
there's another front coming.
So this one late Thursday into
Friday, it's going to move past us.
It's a weak one, but putting cooler
air on top of already cooler air
that we're getting now,
it's just going to kind of keep us
in a good range.
So we go back into those 80s.
And then we go back down into the 70s,
so we'll actually stay a little bit below average for a while,
which will be a nice change for us.
76 degrees is what's average.
And of course, as I showed you, the dew points are going
to plummet again, keeping us just nicely in that comfortable zone.
Also, we're going to see a little rainfall this weekend,
very small chances, so not what we just saw this morning,
because even on this, it's not really showing any numbers.
I have this going all the way through the next seven days,
and nothing's really popping up.
So, yes, a chance for some rain.
It doesn't look like we're going to see much.
Instead, we get to enjoy just this cooler, comfortable air,
which will last pretty much through the rest of the week
since we warm up and we get that other front rolling through.
Still looking really good if people are going out
to vote right now just because we're...
Dropping into the 70s, it's sunny.
It was really nice when I was out there stepping outside.
It just feels refreshing.
That's a much nicer week ahead there.
Yes, a lot quieter.
50s, 70s.
It feels fall.
We love it.
There you go.
Hopefully people already got out there to vote.
But if they still want to, they've got time and the weather's okay.
And it's looking great, yeah.
It'd be nice to just be outside.
So there you go.
Thank you, Leslie.
