You're watching the Fox 10 Weather Experts
with meteorologist Erica Horvathin on Fox 10 News.
We'll be right back.
Alright, welcome back.
A live look over Tempe Town Lake and really just the Salt River
winding westward toward downtown and a beautiful sunset as well.
It's been a gorgeous day out there to get out to the polls.
Temperatures are at 76 degrees in Tempe.
We are still dealing with river flooding across
the state with the Carrizo Creek near Show Low.
It's also near Carrizo at major flood level still. The Moenkopi Wash
and Little Colorado River are both at moderate flood status.
They range
from
far north
northern Arizona all
the way down to the valley
us.
The flood warning here for the Little Colorado
River goes until 10 a.m. tomorrow morning.
So the water levels are expected to drop.
They won't necessarily drop below minor flood stage, though, until
late tomorrow night for the Little Colorado or the Moenkopi Wash.
As for the Gila River down around Safford,
this will go until 2 a.m. just south of San Carlos.
It will go until tomorrow at 1 p.m. for the Safford area.
Here closer to the valley,
we have the flood warning for Tonto Creek until 6 p.m. tonight.
The Verde River underneath that flood warning until 2 p.m. tomorrow.
And the Salt River until 2 p.m. just southwest of the Saguaro Lake.
The rest of the Salt River throughout Mesa
and Phoenix will be in effect through...
Thursday at various times
and for areas in the Buckeye parts of the valley and down to
Gila Bend will be under that flood warning through Saturday at 2 p.m.
So these do have a little bit more time to go.
But the good news is that we don't have any more rain
in store to make the flooding any
worse.
Some high clouds over the northern Arizona today streaming
in ahead of this system, which
is spinning into the central California coast.
And that storm is going to track across Utah.
Utah bringing in some gustier upper-level
winds over northern Arizona tomorrow.
So we will see some high gusts for our Wednesday along
and north of the Mogollon Rim.
And those gusts could be up to around 35 miles per hour.
But as you go south of the Mogollon Rim,
wind is not going to be so much of a concern.
And we're talking winds of around 10 to 20 for Prescott and Payson.
This storm system is not bringing in much moisture.
All of that moisture will stay up north
and we have dry air coming in
around the south side of the low.
And this low will keep our temperatures cooler than normal
for the next couple of days.
So it's going to be very beautiful for our mid and late week.
Tonight will drop to 57 degrees in Phoenix,
38 in Prescott, 43 in Show Low, and 33 in Flagstaff.
And for tomorrow, we'll see a high of 77 in the Valley,
79 at Lake Havasu, 62 in Payson, 64 in Sedona, and 55 in Flagstaff.
We have beautiful conditions for fall and we have lots of sunshine.
Sunshine sticking around for the end of the week
with just a slight warm up for the weekend.
Temperatures will be near normal in those low 80s.
It's been nice, you know, and looking at the Tempe Town Lake video,
all that water going over the end of the dam,
that is such an example of how much water we got up north.
You know, we're seeing it all come rushing down through the valley now.
I know, it's a beautiful sight.
It makes our city look like a completely different city.
It really does. Are we in the northern U.S. all of a sudden?
I know, when you see that water passing the dam and keep going down,
it is a nice sight to see. We needed it. Erica, thanks.
