The Timberwolves Make SNEAKY Signing...
Nov 4, 2026
So today we begin with the Timberwolves make sneaky signing
as the Timberwolves went ahead
and signed a young up and coming forward
who is the first player from Nicaragua to play
in the NBA.
This player is tough,
a big time rebounder and has get this 24 double doubles in 31 G
League games over the past season and a half.
I'm telling you.
Good organizations, even if the moves seem a little bit small,
are good organizations
for a reason.
Welcome back to the Minnesota Timberwolves Digest.
As always, North America, I'm Dave DuPont,
and I bring you the latest Minnesota Timberwolves
news, trade reports, trade rumors,
and of course, a whole lot of commentary.
Today, we're going to talk about
this up-and-coming new Minnesota Timberwolves, Norchad O'Meara.
And of course, you all should be a little bit familiar with him
because he had a drink
of water with the Timberwolves during training camp.
And actually did play in six preseason games for the Timberwolves.
We're going to get into why this is truly
a sneaky good move by good old Tim Connolly.
Here's what he's done so far,
at least in the 11 games he's played in the G League this
season, averaging 16 points a game and 9.4 rebounds.
We all can agree.
The big issue for this Timberwolves team at this point,
outside of, of course, Anthony Edwards' injury, is rebounds.
So we're going to get into all these great things
that he can bring to the team in just a little bit.
We're also, a little bit later, going to talk about what LaMelo
Ball did last night as the Timberwolves ended up beating the Bucks.
At home, 112 to 100, not terribly surprised,
but I did want to give LaMelo a little bit
of love at the front of the podcast today
because he is the fastest player in NBA history
to reach 1,003 points, made 34 points last night.
Six three-pointers made in the game.
Look, at this point, I would love to get everybody's opinions
about LaMelo Ball on this Minnesota Timberwolves team.
What are your thoughts about LaMelo?
Personally, I absolutely love the energy on this team
versus last season with Julius Randle there.
It's a fresh, if you will, it is a bit of fresh air
for this Minnesota Timberwolves team.
Now, we'll talk more about LaMelo
and what went down against the Milwaukee Bucks in just
a little bit, but here's the reunion we're going to get into today.
Six Timberwolves preseason games.
He was actually waived October 17th
and then reportedly just signed a two-way agreement
with the Timberwolves today.
We're going to get into where he went to college, plural.
And a wide variety of other things as well.
But before we do that, I did want to take a quick minute.
What a special shout out to our sponsor, Kalshi.
On Kalshi, you're trading directly against other users,
not the house like traditional
sports books.
You're buying yes or no contracts on the outcomes
of events across sports, politics, or even
the weather, for example.
Now, I went ahead and set up a special
Contract with Kalshi for the Minnesota Timberwolves.
This is what I did.
And this is for the Timberwolves to win the NBA Cup.
Now, I made this particular contract
with Kalshi after Anthony Edwards went down.
You could see what $25 could potentially turn into.
So if you are interested, do make sure to check out the
Uh, description and link and comment and use code
digest NBA to get, get this $55 added to your
account instantly when you trade your first $25.
All right. So when we talk about, uh, Nor Chad,
I think one of the things to consider thinking about him,
and I mentioned this at the opening that, you know,
good organizations make good small moves.
And if you put enough good small moves together,
well then you end up with a roster that has Bones Highland on it
and you're only paying him like 2.5 million bucks.
You saw what Trey Lyles did last night for the Timberwolves as well.
He had 12 points.
And we're only paying him like around $3 million a year.
These small moves absolutely matter
in the era that we are currently living in,
in the National Basketball Association.
So to bring another player that can actually deliver
and has numerous strengths,
and of course, one of those strengths being
his ability to actually rebound the ball,
certainly makes a lot of sense.
For this Minnesota Timberwolves team,
love to get your thoughts, your opinions about Norchad as well.
Go ahead and drop them in.
Now, here's his field goal percentage.
I thought you guys might be interested in that.
So, I guess one of the questions to consider is,
will he earn, if you will, real NBA rotation minutes?
Now, I think as the roster currently stands,
it's going to be hard for him to actually get on the court.
But we did see TJ is dealing with a hip injury now.
And if like Jalen
or if Clark were to actually go down for an extended period of time.
This is a good player that could actually step
in and play in a similar role.
Now, certainly not at Clark's defensive level yet,
but certainly hasn't been given the opportunity to do it either.
He's great at rebounding.
That is something he has proven so far throughout his G League career.
And I think we would see a lot of that actually come forth
with this Minnesota Timberwolves team as well.
Love to get your thoughts, your opinions.
This is one comment.
Diamond in the rough.
Please, he is at best a rotation player.
Hey, look, at this point.
Until proven otherwise, of course, he's a rotation player.
And yes, he has been inconsistent.
And probably the most amount of minutes you could expect him to get
with the big club is between 10 and 12 minutes.
All of those things I agree with.
However, it's about player development.
One of the great things that the Timberwolves organization has done
over the past five years is develop players.
Not necessarily head coach Chris Finch's strength,
but in the G League, certainly that has turned
into something for the Timberwolves to look at.
All right, so super quick, last night, LaMelo,
34 points in the Big Timberwolves victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.
It's a victory, excuse me, that quite frankly,
I expected the Timberwolves to actually get last night.
We play the Rockets next, and then I believe the Pels after that.
So a tough game coming up tomorrow night.
But LaMelo 34, Io played extraordinarily well with 19.
Jaden had 13.
Rudy had a double-double, 10 for 10.
It was good.
He seemed to be playing a little bit better.
And I commented a little bit about Trey Lyles
and Bones Highland a little bit earlier.
And these small pieces absolutely matter.
Which is one of the reasons I actually wanted
to do today's podcast about a new small piece
which has just joined the Minnesota Timberwolves
because of his ability to actually rebound
the ball.
These things are going to matter,
especially if he ends up playing
in any sort of meaningful games down the stretch
when other players are out.
All right, love to get your thoughts,
your opinions, North America.
Sorry about the cold, still fighting it.
That's all I've got for you today.
Please drop your comments in.
As always, for the Timberwolves Digest,
I'm Dave DuBois wishing you all.
A tremendous rest of your sports viewing day.
