The third of three cases involving William McNutt wrapped up
in Shubenacadie Provincial Court
on Monday. McNutt appeared alongside his lawyer, Steve Deegan.
The single charge of sexual assault
was dismissed after McNutt entered into a peace bond
and the Crown offered no evidence. McNutt
is under a court order to have no contact with the complainant
or go near her residence.
The RCMP did not agree to an interview with the CBC
but said in a statement McNutt is no longer
an employee of the RCMP.
The former constable joined the force in 2021. He was suspended
without pay in January 2024 when the allegations first came to light.
The sexual assault case is one of three involving McNutt.
He pleaded not guilty in all three cases.
He was acquitted in the second case in August.
The Crown filed an appeal but later abandoned it.
Charges in the first case included sexual assault,
choking, and uttering threats.
Those charges were stayed in June
because the case took too long to go to trial.
