Hey everyone, it's Deja from crochet-ever-after.com.
Today I'm going to do a review on the Fiber Spates Vivacious DK.
Now DK means double knit,
which is basically like European for medium worsted weight.
So when you see a DK,
that means that you can substitute medium worsted weight,
and you should get pretty close to your gauge,
you may have to change your hook size.
But this is a 100% superwash merino wool.
Superwash means that they have washed it in something special
that keeps it from felting when you wash it.
So you can wash this.
And it makes it a much easier yarn to work with
because you don't have to worry about felting your finished project
and you can use it for a lot more different kinds of projects.
So you can use it in a blanket and not have to worry about
hand-washing the blanket when you're done.
Now this is Deep Aqua and it is a very deep blue with
kind of some dark grays almost black
in certain areas running through it. They're all hand-dyed
so they do vary. You'll see that I have another ball of this.
I'm actually going to be using this
For a beanie tutorial, and I'm going to be giving away this one
because the tag is still on it,
so that's basically why I'm choosing this one to give away.
I lost my tag to the other one.
But they are the same dye lot that you can see because they're
hand dyed that looks slightly different. So we're going to...
I'm going to crochet up with this one, see how it looks,
and I'll be giving this one away, so make sure you look at the blog,
my blog, sign up, so that once the giveaway is posted,
you'll get notification, and you can go ahead and enter to win that,
but I'm going to go and wind this one up, and see how well it winds up.
It is very squishy, it's pretty soft,
it's not super soft because sometimes the merino
can be a little bit more
More tough, I guess you could say.
Wool is great for many things.
It repels water.
It keeps you insulated in the winter and cool in the summer.
So it's a magic fabric.
And sometimes it's super soft and sometimes not so soft.
Sometimes the dye can make it a little bit less soft.
So once we finish the project,
I'm going to block it and see how much more it will soften up.
So I'll let you know.
But I'm going to go ahead and go wind this up.
Okay, so I finished my project with the Fiber Spates,
and it's a viewer request project.
It's a beanie with a ponytail hole in it.
So you can run with your ponytail hanging out.
It will be posted for you guys if you want to download that as well.
But just in general for this yarn,
you can see that it crochets up really nicely.
It almost has like this spiral effect.
You can see the dark lines coming through.
It's almost got this spiral going on for the way that it was dyed.
But it's very pretty, very subtle color changes.
There is...
The, I'm not sure if the hank,
this is the hank that I'm going to be giving away, I'm
not sure if it was dyed quite exactly like this one,
so if you're the one that wins this
hank, go over to my website to enter to win this,
but if you do win it and you make this
particular beanie,
it may not spiral up just as much as this one because it doesn't quite
look like it has the dark bands running through it like
this hank originally did.
But this yarn is very good for crocheting, it is nice and soft,
it's very easy to frog your work or pull out your mistakes ripping out,
it does not stick to itself,
it's got a really nice stretch so it's nice and comfortable
so when you actually make something that you're going
to wear it should not feel scratchy or stiff, it's very, very nice.
But I really like this yarn, and so whoever wins this extra hank,
I'm sure you're going to love it as well,
so make sure you go ahead over to the website to enter to win this guy,
and thank you for watching!
