Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton seeks arrest of Beto O'Rourke.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton seeks Beto
O'Rourke's arrest for defying a court order.
Quote, it's time to lock him up.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has had enough
of Beto O'Rourke's open defiance of the law
in a blistering emergency motion for contempt.
Paxton is asking a Tarrant County court to hold
a failed Democratic candidate in contempt
and throw him in jail for brazenly violating
a court order less than 24 hours after it was issued on August 8, 2025.
Paxton won a temporary restraining order blocking O'Rourke
and his far-left group
powered by people from raising money through Act Blue
for the personal expenses of runaway
Texas Democrats who abandoned their Texas House duties.
The court order specifically
prohibits fundraising for travel, hotel stays,
dining, and paying fines for legislators.
Who skipped work to block Republican legislation.
According to court documents,
Beto ignored the order almost instantaneously.
At a rally in Fort Worth the very next day,
O'Rourke openly mocked the ruling, telling the crowd, quote,
listen, you may say to yourself, well, those aren't the rules.
O'Rourke said, adding, there are no refs in this game.
F the rules, we're going to win whatever it takes,
we're going to take this to them in
every way that we can, end quote.
Not only did Beto O'Rourke verbally taunt the court,
he doubled down on the exact behavior
the judge had barred, flashing, quote,
Texas fight to 20377 on the live stream.
Directing supporters straight to ActBlue donations page
for the same prohibited purposes.
The motion details how Beto also posted the fundraiser's link on X
and repeated the solicitation at a town hall in Abilene,
proving this was no accident.
It was a deliberate middle finger to the court of Texas,
per the Attorney General.
Paxton's filing asks the court to hit O'Rourke with a $500 fine
for each violation and jail him until he pledges to obey
the court's rulings, according to the motion, quote,
in light of defendant O'Rourke's repeated statements disparaging
this court's temporary restraining order
and announcing his intent to continue violating the order.
Because F the rules, the state requests defendant O'Rourke
be confined to jail unless and until he demonstrates a willingness
to abide by the court's orders pending the outcome of this lawsuit.
