Good morning to you, Anthony. Yeah,
we're here at the super site location right now downtown and
take a look at this line.
It's only been growing especially in the eight o'clock hour here. We've
seen a lot of people coming out here probably
before they're nine to five, especially if
they're working here downtown.
But once again, we're seeing voters of all sorts of backgrounds.
We've talked to a lot of college voters today
and we also talked with a first time voter this
morning and she talked a little bit about some
of the most important issues to her when it comes to
When it comes to this year's midterm election, take a listen.
My big issue I think like with the immigration and everything just
because like I mean Chicago is made up of immigrants
and Chicago is so diverse like you can't be one-sided.
It's just I'm just for everybody and especially like again voting
for those that can't and especially with the state and everything now
like I just obviously don't agree with everything that's going on.
So polls are now open until seven o'clock tonight.
You can cast a ballot at your assigned
precinct polling place, all 50 ward early voting locations,
or right here at the downtown super
site. Any registered Chicago voter can vote
in person at a universal vote center, register on
site with two forms of ID like many of the voters here today,
or drop off a mail-in ballot at any
of the city's secure drop boxes.
As a reminder, the Chicago Board of Elections office on Washington
is closed for voting today.
As we've been talking about, this is a very historic election.
For the very first time, voters are electing a Chicago Board
of Education president and board members to complete
that transition to a fully elected school board.
Voters are also casting ballots today for U.S. Senator,
Governor, Lieutenant Governor, congressional seats,
statewide offices, and key referendums.
Turnout, as you can see for yourself, is already strong,
but we know Chicago has over 1.5 million registered voters.
More than 211,000 cast ballots in person during early voting.
That number is more than double what we see.
What we saw during the primaries
and then over 109,000 mail-in ballots have already been counted.
If you still have a mail-in ballot at home,
make sure you get it to a Dropbox no later than 7 p.m.
or make sure it's postmarked by today if you want your vote to count.
Once again, polls close at 7 o'clock tonight.
After that, election workers will start
updating these results a little bit.
They're going to start feeding in some
of those results starting at around 7.15.
You can find those results on chicagoelections.gov.
And of course, we'll have
All sorts of coverage here
when it comes to election day here on Fox Chicago.
One reminder, if you are in line by or before seven o'clock,
you are legally allowed to vote.
So make sure you stay in that line
until you cast your ballot today, guys.
Okay, thank you say.
