Today I'm talking about seven jackets that I think
are really useful to own and they can
make your outfits look a whole lot better.
And just to be clear, you don't need to own
all of these jackets. I don't own all of them myself.
Just pick the ones you like
and leave the ones that you think are absolutely disgusting
while alone. For reference, I'm six
foot, I weigh around 78 kilos
and I typically wear a size medium in tops. I'll leave everything
linked in the description box, but let's get right into it.
So we're starting off with one of my favorite types of jackets,
flight jackets. And the most
popular option in this category is probably the MA1 bomber jacket.
And the Alpha Industries one
is a really great option in this style.
It comes in loads of different colors and I've got the
vintage green colorway which you can see here.
But if you want something even more versatile
then I get it in black.
The only thing about a black bomber jacket is they can sometimes make
make you look like a bouncer or security
and whether that's a good thing or not I'll
I'll leave to you.
I've got a black bomber jacket from Etude
and I was actually mistaken for a
bouncer not that long ago while I was wearing it.
Maybe it's just my intimidating presence
that gave them that impression, who knows?
Anyway, the great thing about bomber jackets
is they add shape to your outfits,
they've got a crop length which a lot of people like,
and they pair well with most trousers and styles.
And you don't have to go for an MA1 bomber jacket
if you like this style of jacket.
For example, you've got B15 jackets if you like a furry collar,
You've got CW45 jackets if you like a collar but no fur,
and you've got A2 jackets if you want something in leather.
Or you could just go for any fashion jacket that's been inspired by old
military flight jackets, like these two for example.
Now I do think whatever your style it's never
a bad idea to have something a little bit smarter
in your wardrobe but smart doesn't have to mean boring.
Personally I'd go for one in a darker
colour because darker colours generally look
a little bit smarter but go for one with an
interesting cut. For example whenever I need something
a little bit smarter the jacket I
normally reach for is my Our Legacy mini jacket.
It's got a fashion forward cut which gives your
Give your outfit some shape,
But it still looks smart and makes you look put together.
But this jacket is so versatile that you can easily dress it down
and wear it very casually too.
Which is a good thing because it's not cheap.
Another jacket I love in this style is this jacket from Diesel.
And just like the Our Legacy jacket, it's got a beautiful shape to it.
It's got a lovely size collar.
I don't like collars on jackets like this that are too small,
but this one's perfect.
This one from Craig Green is another jacket I absolutely love,
and hopefully you're getting an idea of what I look out
for when it comes to a smarter looking
jacket. If you're on a budget
then high street shops will do more affordable jackets in a
similar style, so just keep your eyes open
for something similar where you normally shop.
Now I've got a bit of a love-hate relationship
when it comes to barber jackets because I don't
really like that whole countryside hunting aesthetic
and these jackets can easily give
you that look. But if you style them in a more alternative
or streetwear kind of way,
they can look quality. I own the transport jacket
and it's my favorite style of Barbour
and I've worn it a ton over the past year or two.
It's a great jacket if you need something
to protect you from a bit of rain.
It's also got loads of room to layer underneath.
And you can dress them up or down.
Now I always get asked with this jacket.
Is my version the oversized version or the regular version?
But Barbour only do this jacket.
in an oversized version.
The way they sometimes list this jacket it can sometimes sound
like they've got a regular version
and an oversized version but I did email them about this.
This was their reply
but basically they said it only comes in an oversized version.
So just to let you know if you were curious.
But anyway if you like something more cropped
you could always go for their spay jacket
or if you like something a bit longer
and more traditional then you could always go for their Bedale jacket.
For me personally the spade jacket
is a little bit too cropped for my liking
and the Bedale just looks too much like farming gear.
So the transport jacket just ticks all the boxes for me.
Now work jackets are all the rage these days
and when people think about work jackets
they usually think of the Carhartt Detroit jacket
and that's a great jacket. They're built to last,
they suit almost anyone and they come
in different versions so you could get a padded
one for the colder weather
or a thinner unlined version for the warmer weather. And these jackets
have got a slightly cropped length
and a boxy fit which is very on trend right now.
But they're always going to look stylish
no matter what the trends are doing.
If you want something similar that's a little bit more sleek looking,
then the work jackets from Ronning are a great shout.
They come with a padded inner
so they're going to keep you nice and warm on the colder days.
And the black version is definitely my favorite.
Surprise, surprise.
Okay so it is getting really cold out there at the moment
so you're going to need something that
keeps you nice and cozy and warm.
Now I don't think puffer jackets are the most stylish jackets
in general but I absolutely hate the cold
so I can't live without them and there are some really
nice looking options out there.
Mine's from Picante and it's warm and it's cozy and it's got a really
cool design and some great details
and you can use the drawstrings to give it more of a crop.
Which I really like. It is fairly pricey
but I've bought loads of cheaper down jackets in the past
and they haven't kept me warm and I've always regretted buying them.
If you are going to go for something
more affordable then I would recommend
the down jackets from Uniqlo.
Not only do they look good but they do a decent job
at keeping you warm.
So I do think they're a really good option for the price.
So denim jackets are one of my favourite styles of jackets.
I wear them all the time. Of course
you can wear them over stuff
but they're really easy to wear underneath other coats and jackets
as well. And I think my favourite brand at the moment
when it comes to denim jackets
is probably Our Legacy. I just think
their jackets look a little bit more
interesting than some of the other denim
jackets out there. They fit me perfectly.
and I wear them a lot.
I'd also recommend the denim jackets from Needles and Capital.
I've got one from Needles with flowers all over it
which I think looks really cool
and if I didn't already own my black denim jacket from Our Legacy
I'd definitely pick up this one from Capital.
The fit and the cut look perfect on it and I
really like Capital as a brand anyway.
If you like something a little bit more traditional
Then this jacket from Double RL is a really good option as well.
The quality is great, it fits me like a glove
and it's got a bit of a western look to it.
So if you like your western looks this might be the jacket for you.
If you're on more of a budget then Levi's is always a great shout.
Go for a type 1 or type 2 denim jacket
if you prefer something more cropped
or go for a type 3 if you like something a bit more fitted and longer.
But anyway let's move on to a style of jacket that I think
is really underrated. Okay
so windbreakers aren't really a style of jacket that a lot of people
rave about but I love them and my windbreaker from Ami
is one of my most worn jackets in my wardrobe
because it's perfect in lighter rain,
it's good in the wind and it's easy to layer with
and I live in the UK so the weather here is all over the place.
It's also a very simple
jacket so it goes with pretty much everything and the zip details on it
are absolutely beautiful.
Uniqlo also just released this windbreaker for a fraction of the price
and it's slightly thicker too which you might prefer.
I tried it out in green not that long ago
and I thought it was a really great jacket
so if you do want to save yourself some money then I'd
highly recommend this one.
But yeah I'm a big fan of windbreakers and I do think they're very
underrated. I think they're perfect
on those slightly warmer days where there's a bit of drizzle
and a bit of wind. I do wear mine on the non-windy days
and when it's not raining as well though.
I don't play by the rules.
So as a little bonus, don't say I don't spoil you but I also wanted to
mention utility vests. The reason I like these so much
is because you can throw them over a t-shirt,
over a sweatshirt or a hoodie
and they give your outfit a different look. A simple hoodie or long
sleeve might look a little bit boring on its own
so you could whack one of these over the top
and you look like you're all set to catch some fish.
All jokes aside though, I do think these
are an easy way to make your outfits look
a little bit interesting if you like the look of them. I
picked mine up from eBay for about £20
so they are really affordable and I just think they're
a great thing to have to throw over your outfits
that you've already got and you already wear
to give them a different look. Does that make sense?
Hopefully it does. But remember these
These are just some of my personal recommendations.
of jackets that I think are going to be useful for a lot of people.
If you see a jacket that you absolutely love that's not on this list,
it doesn't mean you shouldn't buy it.
At the end of the day, personal style is about buying
and wearing what you love,
not what everyone tells you you should wear.
And I think that's quite a nice point to end the video on.
So I hope you like this one.
