Some of the best fashion items out there are surprisingly affordable
and today I want to share some of my favorites
that I think are worth your money. All these
items look amazing,
they're all built to last and some of them cost next to nothing.
Okay, so the first item I've got to mention
is vintage Russell Athletic hoodies and sweatshirts,
especially the stuff from the 90s.
You can still find loads of these knocking about on places like
eBay and Vinted in great condition over 30 years later,
so that just shows you how well
these hold up. And I actually like the sweats
that are a bit beaten up as it can add character.
And you see so many brands distressing their new clothing
these days to try and achieve the same look.
But what I love about these is how much influence they've had over
a lot of sweatshirts and hoodies people love today.
They've got that boxy and slightly cropped fit
that's highly sought after right now.
And a lot of brands have been taking heavy inspiration from these old
sweatshirts and charging hundreds of pounds for their own versions.
And you would have definitely seen this.
The very popular Yeezy Gap hoodie for example
is believed to have been heavily inspired by
vintage russell sweats
and akimbo is another brand where you really see that influence.
so yeah if you want to save yourself some money
then why not go for the original thing
that's influencing so many brands hoodies and sweatshirts today
for a fraction of the cost. and another brand worth looking out
for when it comes to sweats
is Vintage Champion, especially their reverse weave stuff.
These are made with fabric running sideways instead of vertically
which helps prevent shrinkage and
they've also got those side panels that allow for more movement
which makes them more comfortable.
They're also ridiculously durable
and you can really feel that when you wear them.
They feel solid but you can find plenty
of vintage models in great condition online
but just make sure you give them a wash first
because you don't know where they've been.
Now Casio watches reached legendary status a long time ago now
and some of their most loved watches
are extremely affordable.
Take the F91W for example which is their most famous
and most worn watch and you've probably owned one
of these yourself. But you can find
plenty of people online saying that their F91s are 20 years old
and still going strong.
Yes you will need to replace the battery
and possibly the strap in that time.
But for a watch that costs below 15 quid, that's pretty good going.
But I do think a lot of the watches
in Casio's vintage line look absolutely amazing.
And my personal favourites at the moment are probably the A158,
the A159 and the A700.
And all those models aren't going
to break the bank and they look slick.
Now I'd argue that the Dickies 874 is one
of the most famous pairs of trousers in the world,
if not the most famous. They've got
a classic straight cut that suits a lot of people. You
can dress them up and you can dress them down
and they last a very long time.
So it's not surprising why they're so popular.
And originally these were designed for laborers to wear.
But these days you're much more likely
to see them being worn by a hipster
in your local coffee shop having an oat milk flat white.
Probably me.
But you can find these in most vintage shops
and a lot of them are decades old.
So it just goes to show how well these hold up.
And you can also get them for about 30 quid.
Brand new off Amazon which is a great price.
The only downside for some people with these
is they are a cotton poly blend
but it is the polyester in these that makes them so durable.
But yeah it's really hard to think
of a more versatile trouser than the Dickies 874
especially at this price so I do think they're a great buy.
If you've never tried these before
though they do run small in the waist
so I would recommend going up one
or two sizes if you're going to get a pair.
Now Carhartt Double Knees are one of my favourite styles of trouser,
especially the cotton canvas
versions because they look cool,
you can pick them up for a great price and they last a very long
time. And just like the Dickies 874s,
these were originally designed as workwear trousers and you
still do see people doing work in them today,
as well as hipsters having a flat white in them.
But these are made from heavyweight cotton canvas
and they've got that extra layer of fabric over
the knees that make them even more durable
so they can take an absolute beating. Do you know
what else can take an absolute beating?
The subscribe button. So beat it up. I'm trying
to get this video to a billion likes as well
so if you could drop it a like that would be
amazing thank you. Now back to the video.
And these trousers still look really good
when they're worn in so even
when they're a bit thrashed or really thrashed
They still look good and you can still get a lot of wear out of them.
Now the original Carhartt Workwear Double Knees,
bit of a mouthful that one,
are actually quite affordable
and if you live in America you can pick these up for around $60.
Unfortunately they are a bit more expensive here in the UK
but they're still great value for money.
If I'm buying a new pair I tend to go for the pairs
from Carhartt's Work in Progress line
which is their more fashion focused line.
I just prefer the shape a little bit more but
But they are more pricier, coming in at around £120.
£120 but you can often find them in the sale for about £60
or £70 which is a great price.
And if that's still more than you want to pay
then you can always find plenty of pairs of these
online for an absolute steal so you really don't need
to spend a lot of money to get a pair of these.
And while we're talking about Carhartt,
I do have to mention their Detroit jacket,
even though it's been talked about to death recently.
But this jacket is still one of the
most respected and worn jackets in the fashion space.
And even people who could afford to wear
pretty much anything still love to wear this jacket,
because the cut's really flattering
and it's such an iconic design.
And just like the double knees, this jacket was also designed
as workwear originally.
And just like with the double knees, these are also made with
with heavyweight cotton canvas,
With reinforced stitching.
So they can take an absolute beating.
Now there are a few different versions of the Detroit jacket.
But you don't have to spend a fortune to get a decent one.
You can pick up the original Carhartt workwear version.
For just over £100 brand new.
But again I would recommend looking second hand with these.
Because there's so many of them out there.
And you can find really good deals on them.
Now military style clothing is one of my favourite styles to wear
and the best thing about a lot of
it is it's affordable. You can find bomber jackets,
utility vests and great looking coats and jackets
from military surplus stores or online all for a great price.
And because a lot of this stuff
was made for the military a lot of it's very durable.
But if you're not sure what to look
for then some really good options
that I'd recommend are MA-1 bomber jackets,
M65 Field Jackets and M65 Fishtail Parkers
but you can also find affordable reproductions
of all this stuff so you don't have to go vintage
and you can also find the reproduction stuff on
the second hand market for even cheaper.
If you are going to pick up reproductions brand new though
just look at the reviews and don't go too cheap
because some of it out there
is a little bit crap but there's
so much great looking military stuff out there
that i can't really list it all in this video even
though i'd love to but
i'll link some places where you can pick some up
in the description box.
Now brands like JanSport or some people call it JanSport,
I've always called it JanSport so I'm
going to stick to that, and Eastpak make some
of the best affordable bags out there. And I used to
have a JanSport backpack when I was at school
and I absolutely loved that thing. And even though I
don't really wear backpacks myself these days,
I've still got a massive soft spot for these
and I've been seeing a lot of really stylish
people wearing them again. I saw a very stylish
I met a stylish looking couple in town the other day
and they both had on JanSport bags
And it brought back lovely memories of my old bag.
But the reason they're on this list
is because they've got such a good reputation
and because of their durability.
Both JanSport and Eastpak offer limited 30-year warranties
on loads of their bags
which tells you something about the confidence the brands have
in their stuff and you can pick up the classic styles
from both brands for between 20 and 50
pounds depending on where you get them from but they're simple
and they look great and you can
get years and years of use out of them
and i actually think my old JanSport bag is still
at my parents house and the last time i saw it it
was still in great condition and when i got
that thing for school it was decades ago i'm no spring chicken
so it's held up really well
Now if you're into jewellery
but you don't want to spend loads of cash on silver and gold, look at
titanium and stainless steel instead.
Both are extremely durable materials, they can last you
a lifetime and they're affordable.
And you don't have to worry about the plating wearing off like
you do on cheaper plated jewellery as long as you
do buy solid stainless steel or titanium. And
earlier this year I picked up this stainless steel necklace
for about twelve quid because I love the look of
And I know it's still going to look great years down the line.
And I've got necklaces that cost me hundreds of pounds,
but I'm choosing to wear this over them at the moment.
So it just goes to show that you don't need
to spend a fortune to get something you like.
But a question for you.
What's the best affordable piece of clothing that you've ever bought?
Something you've worn for years and years and it still looks great
and it didn't break the bank to get?
Let me know in the comments.
