I gotta tell you, I gotta tell you,
the rare Raider game that they win, where at no point
until late in the fourth quarter did I think we were gonna win.
I didn't feel good about it
for a while. Even when we took the lead
and then we gave the ball back, I was like,
we're not gonna be able to get a stop.
38 points. Now, you gave up 33 to the Jets,
the lowly Jets, who are decent.
They have some decent skill position players, but
38 points against the defense in the Jets
that this year was not that bad.
10 a.m. body clock.
You're down nine and a half.
Everybody's laughing at you, including us in the Discord.
The Discord was on fire in a bad way.
But you power through.
You find a way to win.
We got a lot to discuss.
My notes are a plenty.
I've got takes.
I've got to talk about
the Mike Washington versus Ashton Gentry of it all.
Brock Bowers is unreal.
I mean, we got a lot to discuss.
It's really crazy how the confidence
that you have in your football team
can switch on a dime
because if you told me
as I checked the Cal Street markets here
that I'm seriously considering
Taking the Jets in this game a couple weeks ago after coming off
a back-to-back really good losses against the Chiefs losing by three
and then against the Bills losing by three. I would say you're crazy,
but now after losing to the Rams in the way in which we did.
And Klink Kubiak maybe hinting at the possibility of Fernando Mendoza.
I don't know if that gives me more or less confidence in this game.
I can't tell you the last time that we won a game in New York.
We have success against the Jets at home,
but that 10 a.m. body clock, West Coast, East Coast travel,
I don't love it.
I don't love it right now.
If you purchase the no contract on Cal Sheehan,
you throw 25 on there, you win.
If they don't win, you win 48.
30? Interesting, interesting.
I will say this, if you are interested in checking out Kalshi,
use code ALLABOARD to instantly get 25 when you trade 25.
And the reason why Kalshi is so unique and better, in my opinion,
than your typical sportsbook is because you're
not betting against the house
like you are when you use a traditional sportsbook.
You are purchasing yes or no contracts, peer-to-peer trading,
where we set the market on anything you can think of.
Movies, TV, politics, media.
If you want to purchase those contracts,
Kelsey has it.
You know, it's funny.
Some of my game notes include stuff like
Jenty only snaps in the first drive for passing plays.
Washington had all the carries.
Jenty's first carry didn't happen
until four minutes left in the second quarter,
and it was a one-yard gain.
I thought maybe he was soft benched
for the beginning of the game because of his comments.
He was just benched.
He got straight up benched for the whole game.
Um...
Man, what a weird game that was.
Let's go right to the team stats.
I mean, they had 100 more total yards.
We had a touchdown thanks to the brilliance of one Dylan Loughby.
What a player on special teams carrying us both ways.
Almost 100 rushing yards for us.
Almost.
Passing yards is pretty close.
Yards per play.
Look, the Jets were explosive today.
There's no doubt about it.
But we converted 7 for 11 third downs.
A lot of their third downs that they didn't
convert initially were in the red zone.
We had almost the same amount of total plays.
We got to Geno twice.
We both punted twice.
But what was the difference?
That Geno pick at the end of the game,
but the game probably was over, but still.
Five penalties for 37 yards.
Not too bad.
Time of possession was equal.
Uh, we led the tackling battle.
Interesting, interesting.
Look, here's the difference.
When you score touchdowns in the red zone, you win the game.
We still even really weren't able to run the ball in the red zone.
But they kicked four field goals.
We kicked one.
I don't know if we scored four touchdowns in the red zone,
but we definitely were better in the red zone this week than initially,
than we were the whole year.
Kirk Cousins, again, I mean, he had a rating of 141.
He's just really good this year.
Mike Washington, 83 yards.
I thought he was really good today.
The 3.3 per carry kind of skewed a little bit with those goal line runs
that he wasn't able to push through.
Genting, again, two carries.
Wow, insane.
Receiving rides definitely spread around.
Jalen Naylor had some big catches, including the touchdown.
The defense, excuse me, in the first half was horrible.
I mean, I hadn't seen them that bad in a long time.
Max ends up getting a sack, but in the second half,
back-to-back weeks, Robbie Leonard kind
of got them to wake up.
Now, this is not a recipe for success,
and the team that we play next week is probably
going to score more if you play this bad,
but the Falcons just beat the Niners, so who
knows, man?
This league is crazy.
Um, no.
Notes before I get into the specifics, the tush push.
We could have a funeral for the tush push.
It's officially dead.
I said it in my Discord.
I was ready if we lost this game,
even though it wasn't his fault if we lost this game,
to go scorched earth on Clint Kubiak
for continuing to call this tush push
after having a successful two-yard sneak
from Kirk Cousins earlier in the game
and Mike Washington being able to run the ball
at a very high clip early in the game.
He goes tush push and we don't get it again
and it leads to another scoring drive.
I was ready to lose my ever-loving mind,
but we won the game, so it doesn't matter.
I wrote this in the middle of the game.
We are a get-right game for teams.
Jets season 9 points in the first half.
Luckily, we were able to shake that a little bit.
A little bit.
I wrote, there's only one defense out there
that doesn't look like they want to tackle,
and it ain't the Jets.
Again, second half, different story.
But let's just talk about it.
Um...
If there wasn't a running back controversy before, there is one now.
I know Jente was soft benched,
and I know that a lot of the holes that Mike Washington
ran through today, I think Jente would have
also been able to run through, and maybe he
would have been better.
But Clint Kubiak sent a clear message.
If you run your mouth
and you don't back it up before running your mouth, you're not going
to play.
And Jente was on the field, and he made
an impact with those couple receptions.
But Mike Washington had the lion's share
of the carries, and he looked really good.
And he had better vision than Jenty.
He was cutting back.
He was seeing the hole.
He was hitting the hole.
We were able to run the ball.
And when you're able to run the ball,
look at how good this offense can be.
This is why I thought the offense was going to be good.
Not because Kirk Cousins was going to turn back the clock
and still continue to lead the league in touchdowns.
But because I thought that Jenty was going to have an awesome year
and open up all the play action stuff.
When you're able to run the ball,
people like Jalen Naylor can have a better impact on your team.
Michael Mayer was awesome.
Brock Bowers is indartable.
We know all this.
Mike Washington right now should be RB1 for this team,
with Jenty playing strictly the passing downs moving forward.
I've got no problem saying that whatsoever.
And I think it clearly showed today.
Again, some of those holes were pretty good.
By the way, Trey Zune.
I didn't watch the film, but it felt like the line was better today
against the Jets team that, again, isn't that bad defensively.
Go look at the other games they've played.
They've held some good offenses, too.
Under 25 points.
They made the Green Bay Packers look absolutely horrendous.
Look at the Packers now, right?
I don't know, man.
Trey Zune looked pretty good.
The defense.
Um...
Robbie Leonard, appreciate the fight
in the second half, back-to-back weeks.
What the hell are we doing to start the game?
I mean, it was a Geno Smith revenge game.
It was an Adonai Mitchell.
A coming out party.
It was a Garrett Wilson bounce back.
It was a Braylon Allen is better than Breeson Hall show.
And we had no answers.
The only thing we did well was play defense
in the red zone for the most part.
Eric Stokes on one play was getting cooked.
And then in the next play, he was stopping the touchdown.
And then three more plays, he was getting cooked.
I don't know what's going on with Eric Stokes, but...
If we're willing to bench Ashton Gentry,
you've got to be willing to bench Eric Stokes
if you have better options.
It's just right now the other options weren't that good.
Hezekiah Masses made a good play at the end of the game,
but before that he had a big penalty
that almost really lost us the game.
Good thing we held him out of the end zone,
which, again, it was Masses who did.
So up and down for him.
Jermod McCoy was not very good in this game.
The safety play was incredible.
Trayden Stukes and Jeremy Chin.
Also, you've got to give credit to the Jets.
That offense is not bad either.
They have players, but...
Holy hell, Robbie Leonard, whatever you're doing
in the second half, can you do it in the first
half? Because what Klink Kubiak is doing
with this offense is absolutely incredible. Nobody,
including the most diehard Raider fans,
including Klink Kubiak's family, thought that this offense
would be this potent. And you can't say, oh, it was bad Jets.
We did this against the Chiefs.
We did this against the Bills.
We did this against the Saints. We're scoring at will.
Even when we aren't exactly executing at a high level,
even when you don't have a top playmaker at wide receiver,
Trey Tucker didn't do anything in this game.
I mean, he was open a lot, don't get me wrong,
and he drew a lot of good penalties in this game.
But you've got two tight ends
and you've got a decent running game in this game,
and we're putting up 38.
Kirk Cousins, who again was hit a couple times, he was sacked,
not very fleet of foot anymore, is still leading the league in touch.
Like, Mendoza's not going to play this year.
If we somehow win one or two of these next four games,
Mendoza is not going to play this year.
And I was ready to say in this game,
pull Kirk Cousins, not because it's his fault,
but because you can't compete with this defense.
But right now, we look like the Detroit Lions,
where it's like, all right, we got to score 35 points to win.
We're going to do our damnedest.
Because even in the Rams game last week,
where again, we had to go for two, I believe, at one point, right?
And we didn't get it.
We put up 20 points in the second half, almost.
21 points in the second half.
We have explosive opportunities with this offense
if we can get the run game going.
And Clint Kubiak seems to be figuring out a way
to implement Mike Washington and Ashton Gentry together
as a one-two punch in the way that's best for the team.
And now with Trey Zune in the mix,
I think the offense is only going to get better.
Now next week, again, big test.
Let's not get too high.
Let's not, you know...
Let's not ride our high horse into San Francisco
where we get destroyed.
But like I said, the Falcons beat them.
They can be had.
We'll see.
Talk to me, Clint.
26 has a groin in the game.
So we'll take a look at him tomorrow.
But I want to start by just thanking our fans,
especially in our fourth quarter.
Huge, huge appearance from Raider Nation in this Jets game.
Hopefully you can show up in the San Francisco game.
The silver and black was out.
We heard them.
They were loud.
They supported us pregame, all during the game.
And especially Raider fans are everywhere but Vegas.
In that fourth quarter, I was really special.
So very grateful for our fans.
Our players were very resilient.
Played four quarters of football.
It wasn't all pretty, but it's not always going to be pretty.
It's finding a way to win.
So I'm very proud of our team.
I'll take your questions.
Wait, I just wanted to say one thing I forgot
to say about the Ashton Jente and Mike Washington thing.
Ashton Jente was named a captain this week.
Now, I don't know if the players or coaches vote.
But if the coaches do it, I think that was 4-D chess by Clint Kubiak.
He knew he wasn't going to play him that much in this game.
Oh, but I'm going to make him a captain after he made these comments,
and everyone's going to be geared up for Ashton Genting,
and boom, it's a Michael Washington game.
4-D chess from Oakland Kubiak.
Did you see from Kirk Cousins back there today?
Yeah, that's who he's been all year.
Incredible.
He's been a leader.
He's been a playmaker for us.
Of course, and.
Best quarterback we've had since 2016.
And we've got a lot of season to go, so we need that to stay the same.
Ashton Genting only had a two-year.
Yeah, you know, guys, that's my call.
And Ashton's still going to be a big part of our team.
He had a huge catch.
Huge catch.
He's going to be a huge part of our run game going forward.
And, you know, we just want to give Mike
a few more opportunities today.
And, you know, I think both of those guys are going to be a huge part
of our rushing and passing success moving forward.
I think he was soft benched because of the comments.
Lack of carries have anything to do with his comments?
No, it did not.
It did not.
Liar.
Just go stick into the run game.
Don't believe you.
Mike Washington, how he handled the extended role in this game.
Yeah, I thought Mike did a good job, ran hard.
You know, I think we took a step forward in that aspect of our game,
and it's something that's not a finished product.
It seemed like you had Mike in an early-down situation,
Ashton Moore in a third-down, passing-down situation.
Do you see that trend continuing, or is
it going to be kind of a week-to-week
based on the penalty matchup?
I think we just got to look at the film,
and we know we have two runners that we believe in.
How people are used to Jalen Naylor?
Yeah, absolutely.
What a great, great job he did.
And, you know, to his credit, he's been working hard all week.
I do think Jalen is the type of player
that needs a bit of a running game
to get going.
He can't separate on the elite level, obviously.
But in space, when the linebackers and the corners and the safeties
are unsure if you're going to run or pass the ball,
I do think that is key.
All year and hasn't had the opportunities,
and he got opportunities today and made the most of them.
Clint Dillon lobbied three monstrous plays,
The ball go out of bounds, and the defense...
Wow, we do. Love you, bro. I talked
a lot of ---- about you. I apologize.
I'll play today, please.
Yeah, and he's back home. You know, a lot of family here.
So that's really cool for him to have that moment.
And, you know, Dylan's a stud player for us.
He continues to make plays, and as you continue to make plays,
then the expectations continue to raise, and he's earned that.
12 catches, like 130-some-odd yards for your two tight ends,
Brock Bowers and Michael Mayer.
Can you talk about how...
Kirk Cousins is getting them involved
in how you're getting them involved as well in the game.
Yeah, I give the credit to those guys.
You know, Brock, Mike, Ian is fantastic.
You know, Carter Runyon on the practice squad.
And I think you guys got to know that they have
a tremendous coach in Luke Steckle,
one of the most detailed, prepared individuals.
Mike is leveled up.
He deserves a ton of credit.
Mike is leveled up.
Specifically with Brock, he continues
to do some pretty ridiculous things at the catch point.
Does the stuff that he does, like, surprise you at all?
It surprises me when he doesn't catch it, you know.
That's, that's the truth.
Defense of the game today, especially in that first half.
Hey, what happened in the first half and what
kind of adjustments did you guys make?
Yeah.
Yeah, we did.
And, you know, they ran the ball, they ran the ball very well on us.
And, you know, I thought halftime wise,
you know, our guys, okay, we're not happy.
Okay.
We made some adjustments and the guys just played harder.
I mean, we, we, we got an interception.
We got them to force them into two punts.
And it's a four-quarter game.
We talked about that last night.
Amen.
And, you know, our guys kept battling.
You know, we've got things that we've got
to get better at on all sides of the ball.
But we're a team, and teams win games.
And I think as a team today, we contributed.
Special teams, defense, especially in the second half, and offense.
You're playing.
We'll click on third down today.
It's, just like I said, it's team, it's protection,
it's halfbacks and protection, it's receivers getting open, it's...
It's being able to run the ball, because you have third
and four instead of third and eleven.
And, you know, Kirk doing a great job
on third down of distributing the football.
And, you know, I haven't looked at the stats,
but usually when you're good on third down,
your third downs aren't all super long.
I don't know what they all were.
But when you're keeping them inside of six yards,
that allows you to be more successful.
How key was that just in general helping you guys stay on script
and getting the running game,
you know, keeping it part of the offense today?
Yeah, that was really big.
And, you know, the dream scenario is not to get to third down.
You know, be a better first and second down team.
Continue to help us when we run the football better.
So a step in the right direction, but a leap that we need to make.
When you have rookies making rookie mistakes,
but yet you're still able to win games,
how much more does that help to even teach
because you're not coming at it from a negative level loss?
Yeah, well, I think whether we win or lose, it should be the same.
You know, we should treat it the same way.
And I think our guys know that's where our heart
is when we're talking to them every week
because it's a hard league and, you know,
you got to get the problems fixed fast.
I thought he was good.
How do you like that?
I don't.
I'd have to watch the tape.
But, you know, I was excited for Trey to get that opportunity.
And, you know, I also want to give, you know,
a ton of credit to Caleb and to JPJ.
I mean, those guys are great teammates.
And, you know, those guys continue to practice and get better.
And it's going to take all of us.
Someone asked him if the tush push is dead.
And so they really supported Trey.
And that just speaks to their character.
Why do you think run defense continues to be an issue to start games?
You know, guys, it's a part of our team that we have to address.
We have to continue to find ways to improve.
He's not going to say that the players suck.
Because that's hurting us.
It hurt us in the first half.
And that's up to us as coaches to go put
our heads together and get it fixed.
Thank you.
Thank you.
All right.
All right, indeed, Amber.
Look, you won a game that Raider fans
were really afraid that you weren't going to win.
You technically weren't favored.
It was one and a half, even though you get three at home.
So it was essentially a flip-flop game.
And I don't know.
It's, I don't expect to win next week or the week after.
I think it's 49ers and then Seahawks.
But if you can find a way to win one of those games,
the playoff race is wide open in the AFC.
That was our first November win since Aiden O'Connell to Michael Mayer.
Zach Wilson was the quarterback of the Jets.
This team is clearly...
Leaps and bounds ahead of where they were last year
and ahead of schedule.
And Clint Gubiak clearly is the right guy for the job.
We're just going to need to see
what we have of Fernando Mendoza next year
or toward the end of this year.
And if he is 80% of what he should be
with another free agency and another draft,
this team is going in the right direction.
We're not going to freak out about one win against the Jets.
Okay, they're two and six.
But we're four and four.
We're in the mix.
We're in the mix.
And the offense is, right now, one of the best in the league.
You just can't deny that.
Those are the statistics.
You know what else you can't deny?
