Raiders make SNEAKY good signing... - Major Injury Updates | Las Vegas Raiders News
Oct 30, 2026
Yesterday, the Raiders made two roster moves,
and everyone seems to be arguing about the receiver.
Today, they made a third move,
and it's the one that I would not sleep on.
He is 25 years old, he was a former third-round pick,
and before this season, he had never played a single NFL snap.
But before we get into the moves that the Raiders made,
who this is that they signed, and...
Many more updates from practice.

And now let's get into the news. His name is Braylon Trice.
And on Wednesday, the Raiders signed him to the practice squad.
The Raiders listed him as a defensive end,
and the Raiders scouting lab has him at 6'4", 270 pounds.
Atlanta took him in the third round in 2024 out of Washington.
Then things took a turn for the worse.
He tore his ACL in his first preseason game,
lost his entire rookie season,
and aggravated the same knee in 2025 and lost last season as well.
By the way, Atlanta's decision on this is pretty interesting.
They spent a third round pick on him,
they waited two years, and then they decide to
drop him after just four games.
So you can look at it as, yeah,
they're just signing him to the practice squad, but he's
a former third round pick with some upside.
Of course, that's some major injury history,
but he's coming in with a chip on his shoulder.
Here's why I kind of like this move,
and if you look on social media, some Raiders fans
are at least giving it some time, and,
you know, he finally played this season, and it
Raider Scouting Lab has him at 76 snaps in 4 games in 2023,
with 5 pressures, a QB hit, a pass breakup, and 2 tackles.
And that 18% win rate per Raider Scouting Lab is the one number
that myself and a few people on social media keep coming back to.
Their tape note says,
Good initial burst off the line,
two years removed off of a torn ACL with
Lower body power and length to get depth on a tackle.
On the clip that is mentioned, Huntley escapes him,
but Scouting Lab liked the chase down effort specifically,
and it matters when a guy is two years removed
from a devastating ACL injury.
Matt Holder also called him a physical edge setter
who can win with power.
At Washington, he had 16 sacks and 23
and a half tackles over his sophomore season
and junior season, and he was an all-Pac 12 player.
Then you move into this season where
the Falcons gave him a look for four games,
then they decide to move off of him,
waiving him last week, and he ends up with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Levi boiled the year down to two tackles
and one battle pass in 76 defensive snaps,
and he called this signing a flyer.
so the Atlanta Falcons saw a guy coming off
of two lost seasons with ACL injuries and
the Las Vegas Raiders said hey we're
in the middle of a quote-unquote rebuild
we'll look at the same guy
and we'll take a shot at it this talk about his power actually
kind of matters a little bit
because right now the Raiders cannot stop anybody they are
now three and four having lost four in a row
and they've given up 30 or more points in
every single one of those games and actually allowing 30
or more points in four straight
games ties the longest run by this franchise since 1999
and it last happened in 2020.
that is almost 36 points a game during the 0
and 4 losing streak that they're on and you
can see this from heavy
the defensive line has played very poorly they aren't
stopping the run and they aren't getting after
their passer consistently
And against the run game, it's actually even worse.
143 rushing yards allowed,
a game which is 30th in the entire NFL at 5 yards a carry,
the second most in the NFL.
On Sunday, in their last game against the Rams,
the Rams ran for 199 yards,
and the Raiders ran for 49.
They were down 28-6 at halftime, and they went 1-5 in the red zone.
The offense is not perfect, but not nearly as bad as a problem.
27 points a game, 6th in the NFL through Week 6.
But before the Rams game specifically,
they'd been held under 75 rushing yards in 4 straight games,
and then they ran for 49 more.
Linebacker Nakobe Dean said it after the game,
we can't all be individual mercenaries out there.
At this point, whether it is offense or defense,
The entire dashboard is completely...
Lit up right now.
Now, Trice is not going to fix that alone.
He is going to be on the practice squad.
But if his knee holds up and with an attitude
for continuing to come back with a chip on his shoulder
and the power that he brings, this could be a pretty good opportunity
for not just him, but this team as well.
Heavy even said that this defensive line needs help.
So there could be a big opportunity.
So if you're saying break the glass
in case of an emergency, the Raiders...
just did. Now rewind a little bit to yesterday
because this signing looks different next to
the two moves that they made right before it.
The Raiders officially activated receiver Deontay
Thornton Jr. from the injured reserve
and they waived defensive tackle Jonah Lahlou. Lahlou is a
very interesting story.
A Las Vegas kid who started 15 games last year and had four sacks.
This year, he had five games in five tackles.
He was a healthy scratch against the Rams
and JJ Pegues and rookie Tim Keegan
passed him on the depth chart.
And Raiders Wire published an article
that said the plan to bench him
to bulk up against the run failed miserably.
And Levi Dombrow's first reaction when Trice was signed
was I guess Jonah Lahlou isn't coming back,
at least not right now.
Nobody has explicitly reported
that those two moves are connected, but the timing
is a little bit convenient.
Then there's Thornton, a fourth round pick in 2025 out of Tennessee,
who has a reported 430 40 yard dash.
In 2024 at Tennessee, he averaged 25.4 yards a catch,
which led the FBS, and he had six catches of 50 yards or more.
He caught 10 passes for 135 yards as a rookie, then hurt
his hamstring in camp and missed all seven games so far this season.
Coach Kubiak said last week that he was making big progress
and has done a lot of really good things in practice.
And we got an update today that now Thornton
and Jack Beck are both back at practice.
Beck was designated to return from IR on Monday after a broken forearm
and one fan was also
speculating and guessing that Thornton gets 15
to 20 plays against the Jets on Sunday
with some deep targets and we know that that's his game.
For context Trey Tucker leads Las Vegas
receivers with 29 catches for 474 yards
and four touchdowns so there is room for a spark.
The Raiders need a little bit of something, a piece back to click,
and they got two of them back in the building for the game on Sunday.
So what do all of these moves set up?
A very big matchup and a chance to go 500.
against the Jets on Sunday.
The Jets are 2-5 right now.
The Raiders are 3-4,
losing four in a row in third place in the AFC West
behind the Chiefs at 5-1 and the Broncos, who are 5-2.
Yard Barker called it winnable no matter
who is playing quarterback for the Raiders.
After the Jets, though, it does get harder.
You're playing the 49ers on the road, then the Seahawks at home.
then Denver and then Cleveland on the road
with a bye not until week 13. so this window
this game and the next 13 days leading up
to the trade deadline is exactly where the Raiders
Define themselves and let us know.
They decide who they are.
Which brings me all the way to Max Crosby
because conveniently with the trade deadline
just 13 days away,
trade rumors are continuing to circulate around him.
The Raiders agreed to trade Crosby to the Ravens
in March for two first round picks
and it fell apart after a failed physical.
on his meniscus. Crosby is signed through 2029
on a $106.5 million extension and he has two sacks
in seven games this year.
Crosby himself has actually insisted all year that he does want to
stay. He actually said this week that we're
not playing good enough right now and that he wants
He wants to stay a Raider.
Now, the Bears, the Cowboys, the Patriots, the 49ers have all
been linked to pass rushers like him since the summer.
But Adam Schefter did say on Monday on Pat McAfee's show that trade
talks surrounding Max Crosby to him had lost a little bit of steam.
He also added that if you're the Raiders, you do not want
to sell off the heart of your team and the face of your franchise.
Through his age 28 season,
Crosby has 69 and a half career sacks, 16th since 1999.
The deadline is November 10th, 13 days from today.
So we will know soon and we will have an answer soon.
The biggest question is, will the Raiders actually look to trade him?
Are they going to pull the trigger?
Because the trade talks have kind of calmed down
and you're not getting what you were
going to get from him.
From the Ravens, if that trade went through in March.
Trading him right now would be a little bit weird.
Like some of the insiders are saying,
you trade the face of your team
and you're giving up probably your best pass rusher
and your defense is 30th.
Your run defense is 30th in the entire NFL.
That would probably send a-
or message and be telling the whole locker room
that you're done for the season and you're only
three and four. One more update from practice before I go
because it is actually revolving
around the other side of the ball.
Levi Edwards reported that the Raiders have been exploring
options at right guard for the last few weeks
and rookie Trey Zune got reps with the first team to
to start practice today.
and Clint Kubiak did allude to the fact on Monday
that there could be more opportunities coming for
the rookie nothing is confirmed right now
but after in the last game the run game ran for 49
yards a shake-up up front could be on the horizon
so Braylon Trice he could be a sneaky good signing
for this team taking a flyer on a player
that hasn't really worked out in Atlanta dealt with
some injury troubles but it costs nothing right
and the tape shows some you know bursts some power
And obviously the Raiders are 30th
in the entire league against the run.
So, so keep an eye on his name over the course of the next two weeks
or so, because we'll
see how this kind of plays out over,
especially the next couple of weeks with the trade deadline
right around the corner.
If his knee can hold up and he's not dealing
with too many injury problems, this could
be a very, very sneaky, good pickup for this team.
And if not, you know, it'll just cost them
a practice squad spot at this point.
And also before we wrap up, let me know in the comments below.
Do the Raiders end up trading Max Crosby
this season before the trade deadline or not?
Would you like to see them keep him?
