We are here right in the intersection of Sarno and Wickham Road,
and the water is still staying
high.
Some of the water has receded a little bit.
We saw crews earlier out there today clearing those storm drains,
and that has helped a
little bit.
We saw maybe about one to two inches of water recede.
But overall, this water is going to take quite
a while in order to be completely clean.
Clear. Now for tomorrow,
it's a big day for travel and officially Brevard County schools
have completely canceled classes for all of their public schools.
And from this intersection within
a three mile radius, there are multiple high schools
and multiple elementary schools. So
especially for high schoolers that have
the day off completely free of classes tomorrow,
there are going to be intersections that still look like this.
As we can see right here,
you really don't know how deep that water is out there
and especially now that it's dark
you really don't know how deep that water
is so if you do see an intersection like this whether
you do not have school tomorrow
and you're kind of just looking to spend the day free of classes
and on top of that tomorrow is election day
so if you are going out to the polls to your precinct
and you see an intersection like this on the roads tomorrow turn around
Do not drive through it because really all day today,
what we have been seeing is just standing in water.
And right now I'm about ankle deep.
I can't see my toes.
So you really just never know exactly how deep that water is
whether you're just standing on a sidewalk
or you're driving through an intersection.
This water, now that it's been really stirred up
as people have been driving through it,
is extremely murky so if you are walking on the side of the street
and are not wearing shoes
do not walk through any standing water
and again do not drive through any standing water that you
may see later on tonight or if you are traveling to work tomorrow
and see an intersection like this
Do not drive through it either.
This is going to take a couple of days
in order for these waters to completely clear.
As from last night to earlier on this afternoon,
we have seen upwards of 10 inches, some areas 19 inches clocked in,
like at the Melbourne International Airport.
So a lot of water needs to go somewhere,
and it's going to take a while for that water to finally thin out.
In Melbourne, meteorologist Laurel Blanchard, back to you in studio.
