James Kaufman, World News Report Today.
Ladies and gentlemen, we might have a problem on our hands.
It will just depend.
We have another second space rock inbound for September 3rd.
Now, we currently are awaiting a space rock on August 31st.
JPL, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, has just released information
on a second space rock inbound for September 3rd.
This rock's going to be larger,
moving at a much faster rate, and has a pretty good
inclination, so this could become a problem.
This space rock, or near-Earth object,
NEO, is 2025 QD8.
It is close to, they believe, 80 feet in diameter.
We're talking about a seven or eight-story building, moving.
At 12.8 kilometers per second, and we talked about
the inclination, which is fairly significant.
It's going to be coming up from below
our planetary plane here, as you can see.
Again, 2025 QD8,
and this information was just released.
We'll take a look at the details.
This is going to fly between the moon and Earth.
Just as the other rock will, we hope, it was closer to 60 or 70 feet
in diameter, this one being a little bit larger and moving faster.
Let's take a look at what we've got here.
Again, this is September 3rd we're looking at.
Close approach brings us into the 29th, 30th, 31st, the 1st, 2nd,
and 3rd. And you can see they're just about on top of each other.
This will be coming much closer to Earth than our moon.
All right, they say they released this information yesterday.
I don't know how I missed it
because I checked two or three times a day.
August 27th, only 13 observations.
So they have hardly seen the thing over a two-day period.
First seen on the 26th, last observed today on the 28th.
I think the solution date.
They must have messed up on or something
because the condition code is 9, highly uncertain,
meaning they don't know how large it is or where it's headed.
This is crazy.
This was found by our AI automatic software, as you can see right here,
and 13 observations with a condition code of 9,
the worst condition code you can have.
Highly uncertain about size, speed, and path.
All right, it looks like it's going to pass near
the moon at about 8:48 UTC time on the 3rd of September.
That's going to be about 1:48 in the afternoon central time here.
And then we're looking at September 3rd in the evening,
about 8:05 for the close pass to Earth.
You can also see that it's going to be twice as close,
exactly twice as close, to Earth as it is the moon.
Good times.
You can also see that it's going to be moving
at about 12.8 kilometers per second, just as I had indicated.
Although it does slow down after it passes the moon.
Quite strange.
So again, late on the 3rd,
an 80-foot rock, they think.
I'm hoping they'll get some more information
after some more observations, and right now
we have a condition code of nine.
I've never seen a rock with that high of a condition code.
Definitely seen some eights before.
Now, although this is going to come much closer
to Earth than our moon, it still looks like
it's going to be around 80,000 miles from Earth,
but, ladies and gentlemen, they really
don't know the condition code of nine.
All that means is uncertainty.
Only 13 observations.
I'm surprised that they released the information
with such a high condition code.
It's almost like they're in fear or something here.
Again, this is going to be NEO,
Near Earth Object, Space Rock 2025, QD8.
80 feet in diameter, they think.
Moving at 12.8 kilometers per second, they think.
And they believe the close approach will happen on the 3rd at,
well, in the evening, just after 8 p.m. Central Time.
Now, this is no planet killer by far,
unless they're very wrong about the size.
And they're very uncertain, we know.
But this could cause havoc to a populated area if we
were to enter the atmosphere over a populated area.
This would definitely make it to the ground
based on the speed and inclination
and the size of the rock here.
Again, look for this one on September 3rd
after 8 p.m. Central, 2025, QD8.
I will update y'all on both these rocks
tomorrow on the 29th,
the rock that's coming in August 31st.
I did do a video on that yesterday
and the rock that's coming in here on the 3rd.
God bless, please share, subscribe, and always remember,
anything's possible in bizarro world.
