The vlog blends daily farm chores with philosophical reflections on unconditional love for pets and children.
Happy birthday month you guys. Happy November the 1st.
It's my birthday month. You guys know
I've said it a million times. I love my birthday month.
It's a cold one and the clock went back
last night so we got an extra hour of sleep.
I did not sleep an extra hour. It's just not who I am.
Trying to fit through this crack.
Some leaves. Cold. It's cold huh?
Freezing. My last blankets to wash.
Sophie wants me to watch this one for Willow,
you know, for Honey, even though it has rips.
So I might sew it and wash it and see how it goes.
Holy cow, it's like winter.
It's so like winter.
Honey doesn't actually need a blanket.
She gets a lot of fur and she does well.
She's young.
She does really well.
But if everybody else is getting a blanket
on because it's the bad weather, she wants
to be able to put a blanket on her horse.
All right, I'll be back for them.
I'm just going to wash them and repair them.
But welcome to today, the day I should have wore a coat and didn't.
I do have my winter boots on, though.
So it looks gorgeous out here.
It looks sunny.
It's 7.30 a.m.
Normally, it would be 8.30 a.m.,
but because of the time change, it's only 7.30.
This has been the best gradual, natural fall ever.
This is the way fall used to be.
It's the way fall normally is.
It's a gentle progression from summer into fall
and then a gentle progression into winter.
That's what this has been.
It's been my favorite season so far this year.
I'd like to check
and see what the temperature inside the barn is though.
It's 20 degrees outside.
Wait.
And 50 degrees inside.
No.
30 degrees outside and 50 degrees inside. That is good.
That's a 20 degree. I tell you,
most of our viewers are from the States.
That's why I say in Fahrenheit.
That's nice. Like 20 degrees difference. Huge.
Oh my gosh. Look at him. He's like, is that a girl next to me?
It's Winston. It's not a girl. I know you're confused.
He likes you, Winston. He thinks you're pretty.
Ha ha ha.
Do you have to live with that all night?
For me, this is the beginning of the season, the season.
The season of giving and of kindness.
It's my favorite season ever.
So I've already started Christmas shopping.
I have a few things.
We have a few of like the bigger items that we have to buy.
So that's good.
This is what my morning grain looks like.
Isn't it beautiful?
When I was growing up,
my parents bought us everything that we asked for for Christmas.
Everything that we wanted. All of us. And they had a lot of kids.
I grew up in a big family
and they always bought us everything that we wanted.
In fact, when we became teenagers,
like my kids are teenagers, my mom would send us to the mall.
This is how how we did it when I was young.
Remember, this was a long time ago.
She would send us to the mall with money
and we would go by ourselves without her.
We would take the bus because there was a bus.
There was busing and we would find all the things that we loved
and that we wanted so we'd pick out all the things that we wanted
we'd lay them away and that would mean that you'd give like
a certain percentage of the final price to the sales associate
and they would put our name on it with like another copy
of the receipt put it in the back and then like the next week
my mom would go and she would pick up and it would be for all
of us teenagers we'd all go and do this and we'd all go together.
And she would pay, give them the receipt and she would pay
for everything and she would buy all the things that we wanted.
And then we would get so many more things besides just clothes.
So Christmas morning would last forever.
It would be hours.
My parents like to just see a big chaotic Christmas.
The more chaotic, the better.
There would be no organization.
You just get on the ground and look under the tree
and find your gifts and open them as you got them.
The time that it was.
We had quite lavish Christmases.
They were big Christmases and in the past we've had
what feels like a normal Christmas to me
but feels like too much to somebody else
and we've posted them on this channel and people have,
it's hurt people. I've got
comments from people saying like it hurts people
to see other people enjoy a lot of
Um...
To enjoy a lavish, a more lavish,
I don't even want to say lavish because to me it just feels normal.
But anyways, so then we stopped posting Christmases
because I didn't want to hurt people.
So I just post little tiny snippets of our day
and I've toyed with like posting things like what I bought
my kids for Christmas and then showing you like each kid by kid
and I have showed you some things like what I bought my grandkids
and I don't know I just I can't find how I feel about it.
I know mentally that
You should do what makes you happy and if somebody's feeling bad
because you got your kids got more than they did
their kids did at christmas that that's work
that that person needs to do that
that's something that they need to work on and I know that but
But.
Water.
I still have like such a sensitive heart in in like hurting people
Plus my kids are bigger now
and when they were little they loved to just like
Open their presents and be on camera
and share with you guys like for them
Doing YouTube was a lot about like sharing and they loved it
But now that they're bigger it just seems more
awkward fake like it doesn't seem like I don't know
What 17 year old girl is gonna want to share?
I don't know. It just seems awkward like it seems awkward
especially when people like
when Sophie got her baby horse for her birthday, which was like
She had no idea it was even on the radar
and she cried and cried and she was 13 years old
at that awkward stage where she wouldn't naturally cry
on the camera if she didn't have to and she
was so emotional over it and we saw
so many comments from people saying that she didn't
even cry that much.
I don't know having other people quantify how grateful you
are just doesn't
seem natural. It just kind of takes away
from the whole Christmas experience but yeah but
Shouldn't pay attention to the comments.
I know that. I get that. And people need, like,
you're going to always have people
who are hurting in your comment section. People who
are dealing with their own stuff. And I get that.
But I still don't know how I feel
about sharing Christmas or how we will share Christmas.
Because I really want to like I love sharing with you guys.
I love sharing so much with you guys.
So comment below if you have any ideas of something
that kind of meets in the middle where we don't
make people feel bad but we're still able to share our happiness.
Sam was just telling me
about he was watching videos this morning
and he saw people have like their door cams
and yesterday was Halloween last night was Halloween and he said that
This lady came up with her kid, like a grown lady,
and I stole, took 40 juice boxes.
The guy had all these juice boxes out.
This lady took 40 juice boxes.
He went running out of the house and said,
hey, like chasing her down the road and said
like, what the heck are you doing taking all the juice boxes?
And she said, well, if you don't want people to take them,
don't put them out.
No lady that has never worried about having enough.
juice boxes to send her kids to school
with is ever going to take somebody's juice boxes. Like
it's just not going to happen.
If you have no lady that's never worried about having enough
juice boxes, it's going to take 40 juice boxes.
Sam and I both agree. It's probably so she could
give them to her kids, put them in their lunch.
And it just makes me so sad. And even though
Sam was like, well, she shouldn't take that stuff. There's cameras and
We should give her that stuff like that's what I think.
If she needed it so badly that she felt
she needed to take it then she should have it.
That's that's how I feel. Probably unpopular
opinion but that's how I feel.
Is that our cat down there or is that a gray cat? I can't see it.
Can you guys see it? It's like hiding. Is it a cat even?
It's a cat but it's not our cat. It came
through the cornfield. This guy's literally trying
to fight me behind the behind the door like he's
Literally does this dance every morning and watch. I'll open the door.
I know I show it to you every day, but I never quite catch it.
Watch. Don't even. He waits until I back up.
He's not even going to wait today, but he waits till I
get out and then he runs at me. Sophie hates him.
She's had trauma with roosters.
As mean roosters
go, he's not so, so mean. I don't mind him.
He's ran at me a few times, but he's never got me.
Ellie had a bath. She had a bath.
Trying to let her hair grow long. Sit.
Ellie. Ellie. Sit. Okay, listen. Sit.
Sit. She knows how to sit. She's just excited because we were gone.
Yes, we were gone. It's okay. It's okay.
I tell this story all the time.
Ellie is not the dog that I wanted.
I didn't know what Yorkies were like.
I wanted a Chihuahua in a Yorkie body.
I got caught up in the fact that everybody says Yorkies are the best
and I wanted to try it and
she's not the dog that I thought I was getting.
She is nothing like the dog that I ever would
want but I love her more than anything.
I love her so much I don't even care that she doesn't
do any of the things that I wanted in a dog.
And that's what it's about. Even with your kids
all these dogs think that they belong to me. Daisy!
Um, but it's true. Like you have to give up
the idea of what you want in a dog or what you want
in a child. And you have to just let them be themselves
and you have to learn to love them
for who they are. And Ellie taught me that.
Oh, you brought me a stick. Whoa. Give me that stick.
Give me that stick. Molly, let me have it.
All right. All right. There's going to be a fight
over it. I bet. Yeah. They all went.
Poor Ellie is the last one. Kirby really wants it.
Bring me the stick. Here, give it. Give it to me.
I'll throw it again. All right, let's see.
That's what happens when you have more than one dog.
Kirby is a barker apparently. Kirby!
I have to tell you, Kirby is exactly the dog that I always dreamed of.
Even though I like little
dogs, she is so amazing. At night she sits beside me on the couch
and she cuddles me and kisses me
and snuggles me. All the things, all the things that Ellie doesn't do.
All right, here we go.
All the big dogs. I don't know where Ellie went.
Molly doesn't like to share.
Cat thinks it's a dog.
Where are you? There you are.
Ellie just runs after anybody.
She doesn't even know what's going on.
Oh, they lost the stick.
So today is November the 1st.
I'm putting up the Christmas tree. Sam said no.
I'm still putting it up because I have energy
and I'm excited to put it up and I enjoy the
Christmas tree. I don't want to just have
a Christmas tree up for a couple of weeks. I want
to have it up. I want to enjoy it.
So I'm going to put up the Christmas tree today and sorry Sam,
it has to happen.
I'm also going
to throw this
blanket in the
washer right now.
