Good morning, I'm Jacqueline Matter.
And I'm Julie Donaldson.
It is Monday, November 2nd, 4 a.m.
Thank you for starting your morning with us right here
on Fox Live and streaming on Fox Local.
Here's what's happening today.
A deadly stabbing overnight in Wheaton.
Our crew's on the scene with what we're learning from police.
Plus, President Trump says that he will give
his closing pitch speech for the midterm elections today
at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.
Road closures are going to be in place
throughout D.C. for the special event.
And how about those Commanders?
An exciting night in Landover, notching a key divisional win.
We've got all the highlights for you this morning.
Well, good morning. Thanks for joining us here
on this Monday. Glad to have you here with us. Big
Commanders win Halloween weekend and weather was perfect for it all.
Yeah, it's a victory Monday.
We will take it and the Cowboys lost.
So it feels like it's like a double win when the Cowboys lose
in overtime, mind you, right?
One of our coworkers in the building, in the room, I should say,
not even in the building, in the room,
staring straight at her as a Cowboys fan. Sorry, Tony.
So she was not so happy about that one.
Sorry, not sorry.
Yeah, I said it.
Great.
Great weather for the game for sure, thankfully, after,
you know, kind of a rainy start to the season here locally.
It's been nice to get some dry weather that's going
to continue for at least the first part of this week.
I do think we're going to see the rain chances go up starting
on Thursday, lasting into part of the weekend.
So we'll talk more about that in the seven-day coming up.
Ladies?
Well, we start with breaking news.
Police investigating a deadly stabbing in Wheaton.
That's right.
Officials responding to the scene on Elkin Street overnight.
That's where we find our Maureen May live
with what we know at this hour.
Maureen, good morning.
Good morning. So yeah, not a lot of information,
but we are here on the scene. You can see there
is still a police presence as investigators continue
to sort through what happened here.
This is the 11300 block of Elkin Street here in Wheaton.
The stabbing apparently happened. That's
what we're hearing is a stabbing in front of a restaurant.
We can't tell exactly which restaurant
it is, but we understand it's a Salvadoran one.
I believe it is this pink or orange one on the
corner where you see the police tape around it.
That is where we believe the incident happened.
And police officers were dispatched here.
around at 12.04, so just after midnight, for a report of a stabbing.
The victim's injuries were initially unknown,
but police later confirmed that that victim did die.
It identifies a male victim. That's all we know about that person.
Detectives are now working to determine
who or what led to the stabbing.
Police have not released any suspect information.
So, again, this is what's happening here in Wheaton.
There, again, has been a very strong police presence since
this incident occurred.
We haven't been able to get any information
from anyone on scene further.
about what happened, if anyone else is involved,
if there's a lookout for the suspect or anything
about the victim in this case, who, again,
police confirming, though, through their social
media outlets that this person has died.
This is what's happening here.
There might have been some sort of a celebration here.
It looks to be there can be seen some garbage thrown about,
but I'm not sure if that is
necessarily related to the restaurant or what happened there.
But again, we'll be here on scene and we'll be.
We're trying to gather information as much as we can
of what happened here in the 11300 block of Elkin Street in Wheaton
at a Salvadoran restaurant where we understand that one person
is dead after a stabbing. Again, no lookout description for a suspect
or a car or anything of that nature or if anyone else was involved.
But of course, we'll continue to monitor the scene
and see what we can gather and bring you that information as we get it.
But that's what's happening right now here in Wheaton.
We'll send it back to you guys in the studio.
All right. Thank you, Maureen. Well, a heads up for commuters.
Expect road closures and delays
near the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool today
as President Trump prepares to give his final
pitch to voters ahead of tomorrow's midterms.
The location is the site of a costly and
controversial renovation that has plagued
the president in recent months. The president says
that he has chosen the site for his final speech
to show off just how beautiful it is.
We will have more from Melanie Alnwick coming up at 4.30.
D.C. Councilmember Robert White says
that he will officially resign today.
It will clear the way for him to serve
as the city's next delegate to Congress.
It also comes after a legal dispute over
whether he can hold both jobs at the same time.
An obscure federal law from 1970 says that a D.C. delegate cannot
hold another paid public office on the date of the election.
White says his interpretation of the law was that he would have
to step down on the day that votes are certified.
White is expected to deliver remarks about
his resignation later this afternoon outside of the
Wilson building. The D.C. Democratic Party will
then select an interim replacement who will serve
until a special election can be held.
And a reminder as well, we'll have election coverage
all day for you tomorrow,
but our special coverage will begin at 7 p.m. tomorrow on
Fox 5 and on Fox Local for all things midterm elections.
Well, in Loudoun County, a man considered armed
and dangerous has been found,
but it is still unclear whether he has
been arrested or taken into custody.
The sheriff's office confirming deputies found 30-year-old Christian
De Jesus Santiago and questioned him.
This comes after deputies responded to Conejo Way
and North Star Boulevard in Aldi
for reports of a domestic incident on Sunday.
No other information has been given at this time.
Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is expected
to provide more details later this morning.
