We just got a warning for something horrifying...
Nov 2, 2026
Steph Castle, zero points on Saturday, 0 for 4 shooting, 3 turnovers.
Tobias Harris still hasn't played a minute for this team,
and the Spurs still beat the Minnesota Timberwolves by 10 points.
Three guys scored 90 of the Spurs' 121.
Wemby had 43, Harper had 25, Fox had 22,
and the Spurs are now 4-2,
winning four games in a row after starting out 0-2.
So here's what should scare the rest of the league.
That was the Spurs, with their depth
chart pretty much missing in this game.
Imagine when this team is a whole.
This started out weird anyway, as Steph Castle had a migraine.
He was a game-time decision, questionable to play,
but was made active approaching game time.
And he didn't play 22 minutes, but no shot in the first half,
no points, some assists, a steal.
But that's just the third scoreless game of his career.
And here's what Mitch Johnson had to say after the game.
A lot of people wouldn't have went into work
if they were feeling like Steph Castle was.
Steph Castle clocked in for work tonight,
and we needed every second of it.
De'Aaron Fox said the same thing.
For him to come out and still give us what he had, that's big.
We don't expect anything less from him.
Whatever he has in the tank, he's willing to give it.
Just think about what this means.
The Spurs' best two-way guard played a game with nothing in the tank,
and they still won by 10.
A team that can survive that?
Has a very, very high floor.
To be fair, the Wolves were also shorthanded.
I'll give you that.
No Anthony Edwards and Rudy Gobert had some back spasms.
And it was their second night in a row.
But they cut a 13-point deficit to four in the second half.
It wasn't a gimme game for San Antonio.
The Spurs still had to step up and put it away.
Someone had to be the catalyst for it.
And that somebody was 7'4", or 7'5", depending on who you ask.
It's honestly terrifying to watch Victor Wembanyama
do this night after night.
Cold start to the season, I've already forgotten about it.
Finished with 43-7 and 6 blocks with 4 assists in this last game.
He took 34 shots, which is a career high, and he made 17 of them.
24 of his 43 came in the first half too.
Wemby continuing to play like this is going
to have a huge impact on the Spurs moving forward,
and we still think they can get 60 plus wins.
You can more than double $25 if you trade 25 on

And that number 34, it actually matters an interesting amount
and it used to be a bit
of a warning sign for this team
because Christmas Day 2024, he took 31 shots.
He scored 42, but the Spurs lost to the Knicks by three.
Four days later, he took 30 shots
and they lost to these same Timberwolves by two.
Saturday was the first.
When the Spurs ever got when Wemby took 30 or more shots,
it's a pretty big change.
His volume used to be what the Spurs needed to survive.
Now it's just kind of a part of life
and it's a part of how they can win games.
But it's not just the volume of shot attempts.
It's how he was getting his shots as well.
12 of his 14 baskets
that weren't threes came within two feet of the rim.
He's getting there.
He's getting lobs, dunks, sometimes from other players,
sometimes lobs from himself off the
backboard.
Four alley-oops in this game, four dunks.
It's not just about a hot shooting night for Wembanyama.
He creates these for himself, and he's a guy that no one can stop
when he is getting these kinds of looks.
And just to add a bit of historical context,
because I feel like every Wemby game needs that,
this was the first time since 1996,
30 years ago, when David Robinson did it,
that a Spur had 40 points and 5 blocks in one game.
And it's not just that, right?
Wemby has had some incredible performances back-to-back.
36 last game, 43 points with 6 blocks in this one,
24 at half again, and here's some more history.
This was Wemby's third straight game with 20 in the first half.
That has not been done
by a spur since Tim Duncan back in January of 2001.
So what changed?
Well, I asked myself, you've probably been asking yourself,
and Wemby actually answered
it himself.
Quote, it's like pattern recognition.
The brain, after so many games,
literally hundreds of games now in the NBA, knows what
kind of game to go towards.
Continuing, whenever we don't score, it's like negative feedback.
Whenever we score, we get good results.
Positive feedback for the brain.
Okay, take a second and just reread that,
because this is a 22-year-old describing
How his brain is learning in the NBA in real time like a computer.
How terrifying is that?
Like, who else has this kind of self-reflection in the NBA?
He's pattern matching.
He's training himself like a computer
and clearly something is working here.
He's matured beyond his years and his coach sees it too.
Mitch Johnson said he has, quote,
matured physically and he has matured emotionally
and he has matured mentally.
If that made Wemby's leap click for you,
how about you click the like button?
This month's best is 380 likes.
I'd love for this video to beat it and get at least 400.
As much as we want to hype Wemby up
because it's history every time he touches the court,
he didn't do this alone.
Look at what the other guards,
other than Mr. Migraine and Steph Castle, did in this
game.
Dylan Harper, he's in his second year.
Quote, he's just so dominant.
When he puts his imprint on the game, he's unstoppable.
He did that tonight from the jump to the end of the game.
And Harper said, that's probably the most lobs I've ever had.
He absolutely helped Wemby.
They were a dynamic duo tonight.
Harper scored 25 points on 9 of 17 shooting.
That is a regular season, career high,
and he got 10 of them in the third quarter alone.
Then there's De'Aaron Fox,
who has been unbelievably efficient this year.
He's looked so good to start this season.
22 points on just 10 shots, 8 rebounds, 7 assists.
Both of those, by the way, team highs.
He had more rebounds than Wemby did.
Not to mention a team high plus 23 plus minus.
The Spurs outscored Minnesota by 23 with Fox on the floor.
That was the best mark on the team.
Incredible.
Also, his first 20-point game of the season.
Season high for him.
He's the guy who makes sure that Wemby's gravity turns
into easy points for everyone else.
Fox has worked so well as a distributor and also...
That's some gravity of his own.
When he's driving into the paint with Wemby,
you can't ignore both of them.
You got to pick one over the other.
And Fox is absolutely making his case.
He also told us why it works.
Quote, our offense looks great when we're making them chase the ball.
Fox also put what Wemby does into words better than I could.
Honestly, Wemby's probably the best roller to ever play the game.
Probably the best lob threat ever.
Someone explain to me why it took this long
for the Spurs to finally realize that he just
needs to run this pick and roll with some lobs.
Why did it take us years?
At least we're finally seeing it now.
And how about this one line
from Mitch Johnson summarizing this whole thing?
When he plays with his teammates,
it really causes a problem for the other team.
The best players in this league, when they play with their teammates,
it's damn near impossible at times.
Playing with the teammates makes a ton of sense
because it opens up for all of them.
Here's what Harper said about his own role.
When I'm on the floor alone without Fox and Castle,
that's my time to attack the defense.
Everyone is working cohesively together.
And this is, again,
A second-year guard, like, oh, these guys are so young.
A second-year guard who knows exactly when it's his turn.
He gets that 25-point night in a game where Castle scored zero.
Like, this is what we're talking about
when we talk about depth scoring,
and even still, the bench wasn't even there tonight.
And no conversation about scoring depth would be complete
if we didn't talk about Tobias Harris again.
This is the part that should keep other teams
in the West and just the NBA up at night.
It's the fact that Harris has not played yet,
and the Spurs are still winning games like this.
We signed him to a two-year, $31 million deal this past offseason.
He's 34 years old, but he's been out since
training camp with that calf strain.
The Spurs have been incredibly cautious bringing him back.
And after a Friday workout,
the Spurs still tempered expectations on his return.
Mitch Johnson said, quote, it's a calf strain,
and that's a thing that we've seen can be tricky.
Their plan is, quote, being patient and not getting ahead of ourselves.
So transparency, it doesn't seem like there's any setback.
He is ramping up.
He's just slowly regaining strength in the calf.
And honestly, after looking around the league
at the amount of injuries that are happening,
I can't say that that's the wrong choice.
So when you look and you see Wemby and Harper
and Fox winning a game, basically with just
the three of them with Castle at zero points,
we're also saying they won without a $31 million dollar
forward.
They won without a lot of their bench guys scoring a ton of points.
They're winning in every situation imaginable.
But not just winning, having fun.
Even Harper sounded like he was having fun.
After the game, he said, quote, I love games like this.
And just remember where we came from.
Started 0-2 against two tough teams, two contenders in the West.
Although OKC's been dealing with a lot of injuries lately,
the Spurs have won four in
a row since then, and they are absolutely back on track
and getting genuinely more scary
every single day.
So let's summarize.
Castle, zero points.
Harris, not even there yet.
They shot 10 for 27 from three.
They still win all these games.
And I know this is maybe not the finished
product masterpiece beating another contender.
The Wolves were shorthanded without Anthony Edwards,
without DiVincenzo, without Gobert.
But this is kind of a first draft, not the final product.
And right now, this first draft warming up is four wins in a row.
What other team can say that?
This is all with Wemby still trying to make
a point of what he needs even further.
He said he wanted to, quote, go back to playing the basketball I like.
We remember that quote after they started a bit rough.
And this Saturday on Halloween, you saw it.
Lobs, screens, dunks, blocks.
A 7'4", 7'5", guy just playing his game.
The ceiling here is kind of what's insane to think about.
I mean, we made the finals last year.
But this year feels even better.
The ceiling is Wemby doing the one thing
that nobody can stop, which is getting to the rim.
This is something that hasn't been fully unlocked for the Spurs yet.
The floor for this team is Fox
and Harper keeping the lights on when someone else is
You have so many options.
The guards are stepping up in the absence of others.
Harris not playing yet, doesn't matter.
Wemby, when he has his off nights, the Spurs can still go out there.
You can get 25 from Harper, an efficient 20 from Fox,
a migraine Steph Castle who gives his all on defense.
This team, it'll have its ups and downs, just like Wemby said,
quote, there's always ups and downs,
but we're turning in the right direction.
I don't think there's any doubt that this team
is just getting scarier by the day.
Wemby, 36 and 43 in back-to-back games.
Harper.
Second-year guard with a career night.
Fox is right now kind of an offensive engine for this team.
Castle and Harris, Castle's had some good games,
but hasn't fully shown up to be that 20-point triple-double threat
that we've come to know and love over the past few years.
I mean, he still has been in a few games,
but not in this most recent one.
Again, he's been a bit ill.
Harris not playing.
Like, this is just a team that can only go up from here,
which is insane.
If Wemby continues to play like this,
there is no stopping this organization.
Leave your thoughts down below
of what you think the Spurs win total
is going to be this year.
I'm still saying 62 wins, I think.
Let us know your thoughts.
Thank you for watching.
We'll catch you all in the next one.
