It is the one fight that I talk about,
the one fight of our time, the one fight of our
generation.
Is this going to be a Texas
that is by and for the people?
Or is this the billionaire's world and we just live here?
That is the one in America, it is the one fight for Texas.
It is the fight to decide who does Texas belong to.
Number one, you should never have a property tax increase without
you getting to vote on it and require a two-thirds vote margin.
Number two, and that is we've got to stop these skyrocketing
appraisal rates, reduce them from 10% a year to no more than 3% a year.
And then last.
It is not the responsibility of your homestead to fund education.
That's the state's responsibility.
We must stop using your homestead for that purpose.
We must zero out and eliminate the school district property tax
on homesteads for every home across the state of Texas.
Governor Greg Abbott and Democratic challenger Gina Hinojosa making
their final pitch to voters
across the Lone Star State.
Panel two polls this week had the incumbent up narrowly by margins of
three and five respectively.
Bill King, we're talking about a midterm that's going to be
decided by independents and folks
who don't have a lot of primary history anyway. Abbott, get through.
So the difference between Abbott
and Paxton is that Republicans are not defecting from Abbott,
and also he's doing much better with independents. But I will tell you,
this is the worst Greg Abbott campaign I've ever seen in his career.
If he had been concentrating on what you said and those,
he would have won this easily.
But instead, he spent all this money on Sharia law
and on socialism and on a bunch of stuff
stuff that nobody cares about.
What they care about are property taxes.
And the Democrats handed him an issue on a silver platter
of raising property taxes in all these big counties.
And for some reason, he didn't run on that.
And that was a gigantic mistake.
Chris, Gina Hinojosa, who is seen by some as a sacrificial lamb.
You know, she's run on public education,
she's run against data centers, she's a force
to be reckoned with.
She absolutely is, and she turns out
to know how to run a campaign, knows what to
campaign on, and she's hit Greg Abbott
on all of the issues that he refuses to look
at because he's got a horrible record on-
all of those issues.
He supported the data centers until it turned out that the public
hated them and they were ruining our environment.
He's decimated our public education system,
which we'll talk about later.
And in all of those issues she's hitting, the public is
paying attention to. Bob, the border, the eighth biggest economy
in the world, Abbott had things to run on.
He did, and it's been an interesting campaign,
and it is the first time that he's actually
had a serious opponent in all of his gubernatorial races,
so I think it's going to be interesting
to see.
The good news for Abbott
and for Paxton is that Republican voters tend to come out in
higher numbers on Election Day than Democrats do.
I think Abbott wins by six.
Okay, thanks for joining us this morning.
