James Kaufman, World News Report, today.
The biggest consumer giant is laying off thousands of people.
Nestle's, the largest consumer goods company in the world,
owns more than 2,000 brands,
including Gerber Baby Foods and Purina Pet Food,
is laying off thousands of employees.
On Thursday, the company announced
that it would start to reduce its workforce.
by 16,000 jobs globally over the next couple of years,
and that would increase dramatically.
Nestle employs over 225,000 workers worldwide,
with 36,000 employees in the U.S.
Nestle is the biggest consumer goods company in the world
with a market capitalization of over $265 billion.
$1,000,000.
And it's preparing to cut over 16,000 jobs globally over
the next few months.
Nestle, which oversees more than 2,000 brands,
including Nespresso, Gerber Baby Food, Purina Pet Food,
and Kit Kat Candy Bars, announced on Thursday
that the layoffs would target approximately 12,000 white-collar jobs.
Solving a cost of savings of over $1.2 billion.
The reigning 4,000 jobs will affect those in manufacturing
and the supply chain positions.
They're being replaced by AI.
Job cuts will reduce Nestle's global workforce by over 6% overall.
But it's just a start.
Quote, the world is changing,
and Nestle needs to change faster, said Felipe Navarretello,
Nestle's CEO, in a press conference released on Thursday.
Quote, this will include making hard
but necessary decisions to reduce headcount over the next
two years plus.
We will do this with respect and transparency.
Now see, U.S. Division has them out.
36,000 total employees.
According to Forbes,
the company employs about 277,000 to 280,000 workers globally.
Layoffs are part of Nestle's wider effort
to reduce spending by $3.75 billion by 2027,
up from its previous target of $3.14 billion.
The company said in a press release that it would increase automation.
And it would start sharing services among divisions
to fill in the gaps left by laid-off employees.
It is unclear how Nestle plans to bring more automation
to its corporate offices.
What a joke.
A recent report published earlier this month
from Challenger, Gray, and Christmas
shows that more than 17,000 jobs
have been lost this year so far.
And Nestle alone, due to AI.
God bless.
