What’s the #1 AI app I actually run my business on? After testing hundreds of AI tools on this channel, my answer is Claude. But the app is only half the story. The other half is how you use it. Most people plug AI into one task with no context and get bad results. The AI native approach flips that. Make one app the central brain of your business, connect your apps through MCP and native connectors, feed it files, memory, and training, and let it compound over 6, 12, and 18 months. I also cover the privacy trade-off: who should care, who shouldn’t, and what to do if your data is sensitive (local open-source models, gov cloud options, or keeping certain tasks off AI). Thanks to StoreClaw for sponsoring. It’s an AI agent for Shopify and Amazon sellers that finds store problems and fixes them for you. Hey guys, so I wanted to sit down
and record more of a casual video today about the number one app
that I run my business on and specifically
the number one AI app that I use. And on this channel
we talked through hundreds if not thousands
at this point of different AI tools and platforms
and systems. But what's the one, right,
the magic one that will transform
your business as it has, for example, for mine and for my life.
That's what I want to talk through,
but there's actually two sides to it.
One is the app itself, which I'll cover,
but the other point, and this is the conceptual
point I want to start with, is it's how you use the tool.
It's a combination of those two things.
It's not like it's just how you use the tool,
it is about the tool as well, but both of those,
right, the push and pull, the yin and yang,
if we want to go a little bit more abstract,
Both sides of that do matter, and I'll explain why they matter.
What makes AI really good as a system that serves you
and your business is the fact that
it has a lot of data to pull from,
a lot of context about your business, and it can improve
in your systems, right?
It can improve over time.
If you have a lot of data to pull from,
automating anything new over time or injecting AI into new
systems, new apps, new workflows over time becomes very easy.
But that's the problem,
most people do it backwards in that sense, right?
They have a point solution that they
try to automate with AI and so they go in,
they have no context, no data,
the AI tries to just do it because they just stick the model in there,
the error rates are like 25% and so they're like,
this doesn't work, I don't do it.
And that doesn't work.
Now before we continue,
I want to show you something that I've been running on a store
of mine. And if you sell anything online,
this one is going to be a fit for you. So we have a
store set up for my cold brew brand called Alto on Shopify.
And running a store like this means
that you have one tool for SEO, another one for ads,
another one for content, another one for
watching competitors, and none of them actually do the work.
They're all dashboards that show you
What to fix so you can end up going and doing it yourself.
Yourself now, that is what Store Claw fixes
and they are the sponsor of today's video Store Claw
is an AI engine built specifically for Amazon and Shopify sellers.
So you connect your store and it reads your real data.
It finds problems and then it actually fixes them
and that is the big upgrade here.
So here's our store connected so we can see the connectors page
and see that Shopify is connected to Store Claw.
We can run that full store SEO and GE diagnostic.
And we can see results there.
So the errors that it's flagging
and what we need to approve, and then we just approve
those fixes and Store Claw will push those updates on our behalf.
So pretty epic.
Here's that old description and then the new one.
And that's AI finding the problem.
Yes, but also fixing it on your behalf,
just like human employees would.
And you can set up a schedule for that.
It will check things
and fix them on that automatic schedule without you having to
The
alternative,
the AI native
approach,
right?
is have that data, have that awareness,
that intelligence, learn and improve over time,
kind of build outward from a core of knowledge
and context about your business, in part due
to the workflows that it already completes,
right, the things it already does in your
business, and then the more data that comes into it,
the better that system can apply
itself over time.
That, I think, is how you really become AI native and get those kind
of productivity gains out of AI that you wouldn't in other cases
because the error bars, right, are just too wide.
There is a privacy conversation to be had there, right, because you
are then, by that logic, giving a lot of data to these companies.
That is completely valid as a general take.
However, for 99% of you watching this,
You shouldn't care, those companies don't want your data,
you don't really care if they
have your data of your business.
If it's something proprietary, if it's frontier,
if it's cutting edge, if it's export controlled,
100% forget about this, go watch a different video.
video.
We should actually make a video about it.
specifically how to regulate that but anyway putting
that to the side for a second that's
not going to be an issue for nearly everyone unless
your data is really something that needs
to be safeguarded and so if we pull everything uh together
then and so if we pull all of that
together then we need one app that serves
as that brain as that memory bank so to speak for AI
And what that's going to be today,
the best apps in the marketplace for this,
are going to be one of two things.
OpenAI or Claude. And personally, for me,
I've had a much better experience in the data,
the context, the integration world with Claude.
So that, long story short,
is the number one AI app that I run my business on.
Now, you may be like, okay, yeah, yeah,
yeah, of course, Claude is number one, right?
Yes, that's half of it.
The other half, again, is what we've
been talking about of how do you use that.
Because you don't want to just use the Claude ecosystem
or GPT or any of these other tools as
a chatbot interface. You want to use them as the brain,
as the central node in this network of AI
apps and models and agents that you'll build over time
by integrating that brain and training it
and giving it an opportunity to learn and improve with you, right?
it serves as the brain it has the data it has the context
and just like in a human right it goes and
does different tasks some don't work some do and over time it evolves
and grows and one of the the
like the value propositions of the cloud ecosystem
is you can integrate whether it's an MCP or a
native connector you can integrate into all these apps
and so all the tools that we talk about on this channel, right
Maybe I use them independently, right, and of their own
quality and the capabilities of those systems
but I always make sure to tie
that back if I can to the Claude and the Claude ecosystem
and that way again over time
all these individual tools are awesome
but somewhere you have your brain the
brain of your business that is growing and expanding
and here again you can see why privacy
is a concern for a lot of people as it should be
once again we're going to delineate out here
if that's a concern for you and if it's not
i'm going to assume that it's
not and so if you approach that in the right way, right
If you grow this brain outward, if you feed it more data,
you feed it training, you do video lessons with it,
where you record a certain task and then give it that information,
you bulk upload a lot of context that could serve it.
Over time, and then as you integrate all these different apps
and tools with it, that's where these systems get incredibly powerful
and can do a lot of work for you.
And that's where it really is how you use it,
because that is a world apart.
If you roll that out over six, 12, 18 months,
versus, hey Claude, make this document,
make this slideshow for me.
And so a more apt descriptor for the number one AI app
that I use is not Claude in of itself,
but it's the Claude as the AI brain for the business
that coalesces information,
Remembers that information, iterates on that information,
and over time can automate more and more of these recurring tasks
for less money and at a higher threshold of quality.
Now, there are other systems that are great and do this as well.
Now, there are other systems that are fantastic and do this as well,
but in that case, just tie
those things together. If you have, you know,
your brain over here, your brain over here, just make
sure those brains can talk to each other, and if so,
I'm beating a dead horse here, but they become
one bigger brain, right?
And one bigger brain, the intelligence itself having more information,
More context, more data, that is the productivity.
Unlock that as being a...
AI native and you'll start to see this in subtle ways over time
if you implement an approach like this where the agents are pulling
context from this thing you didn't remember or actually going above
and beyond what a human would do because the human wouldn't know this,
you know, X factoid from six months ago. And so the system is just
In some ways, it's superior to a human worker, right?
In a lot of ways, it's not,
but in some ways, it absolutely is,
especially, once again,
you have that data amalgamating in it.
Now, I've made another video
where I cover some of the specific ways,
for example, that Claude can help out
on this YouTube channel.
There's a lot there on the project side of things,
context, memory, connectors,
those specific features.
Those, I think, are what...
Really important to nail off the bat.
If you have a dedicated business or project
where you're like, I want this to be AI-native,
I wanna have an AI brain for it,
then that's where you start.
You start with connecting all the apps,
you start with adding the context, the files,
the memory, the training,
integrating all your AI systems into one,
That's a setup process that takes a few hours,
but if you don't have anything like that or you
haven't consciously gone through that approach before,
that is where you should start, right?
Just spend an hour, three hours, six hours,
whatever it is, going through those motions and
that'll be a much stronger base to build off of versus,
again, doing it in kind of the opposite
direction of point solution here,
point context required to solve this specific thing over there,
So that's the bottom line
with what I use personally in my approach there.
And going back to the privacy conversation,
there are a few solutions or approaches
if you do have concerns over whether that data is made available
to a lab out there.
One of those is locally hosted open source models.
So same deal.
But what you really need to do there is then custom scaffolding.
to replace what a lot of the labs do for you in their ecosystem
so things again like context and
memory and how information internally is structured
and how information is recalled all of that is
what you want to pay attention to if you try
and do that same playbook but just do it with locally
hosted now for most people the alternative
is just going to be not using Claude or OpenAI or
Whatever model it is.
For those tasks, the tasks which have sensitive information,
it just comes down to, well,
how important are those tasks to automate or delegate
or improve upon or work with AI on versus others?
If you can find kind of GovCloud secure solutions,
those are kind of options.
They're not great options, though.
So, um,
If that's an issue, right, that's...
going to be a conversation that is a genuine like there is no solution
which is as good as
just giving all the information to the AI
so privacy does come at a very material cost
to productivity so it's always going to be a trade-off and that's why
i want to up front delineate well if that's
a concern for you it is and that's a conversation
if it's not don't even think about it because there are very real costs
Um...
To taking privacy seriously, unfortunately.
So that, long story short, is the number one AI app for my business.
The other side of that, which is how best to take advantage of that,
app and it's really about the...
process as much as the end game there, and then how privacy plays into all of that.
So again, more of a casual video today, but hope you find that useful.
I think that is just as or more important than any individual app
and its performance.
But back to regularly scheduled programming now,
and depending on when you're seeing this, happy Halloween.
Cheers.
