English Literature - The Clean Hands - Group 5 - Shift 2 - Final Project - #BeKindBeCool 2026-2027

What does it truly mean to be a good person?

Inspired by Charles Dickens’s Great Expectations, The Clean Hands reimagines Pip’s journey in the modern world, where wealth, social status, and social media influence how people see themselves and others.

Once ashamed of his humble beginnings, Pip grows into a wealthy philanthropist who seems to have everything. However, behind his image of kindness lies a truth he cannot wash away. As his reputation falls apart, Pip is forced to confront his past, his mistakes, and the people he once looked down on.

Through the symbolism of hands, this adaptation explores social prejudice, performative kindness, genuine compassion, and the possibility of redemption.

True kindness is not about looking like a good person. It is about listening, understanding, and respecting others.

We hope this adaptation encourages you to reflect on what it really means to help others.
