This is a traditional Russian dish, Russian/French to be exact. It’s made with thinly sliced mushrooms, sour cream, cheese and cream. It’s very rich and creamy. I’m sharing one of my all-time favorite recipes with you, a Russian dish called Mushroom Julienne. Traditionally, this dish is served as an appetizer, although I found it goes very nice as a side dish or with salad. If you love mushrooms, this dish is perfect for you. If you don’t really like mushrooms, I still recommend that you try it. I’ve turned a lot of people into mushroom lovers with this dish! Traditionally served in a tiny metal or ceramic individual dishes, called cocottes, it's elegant and lovely starter.

Hi guys, welcome to my channel. Today I'm making mushroom julienne.
It's one of my favorite dishes, especially
because I love mushrooms so much. And I eat it in Latvia a lot.
They serve it in many metallic pots, but I don't have these,
so I'm going to serve them in my little pots like these.
Or whatever you have in the house, just use your imagination
and the dish will just look amazing and taste incredibly good.
The ingredients we're going to be needing are 2 chopped onions,
I've got 50 grams of unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon of flour, 100 grams
of cheese, you can use any cheese you like, pepper salt, sour cream,
about 150 milliliters, and I've got 200 grams of sliced mushrooms here.
This is a really easy and quick dish to make, so if you want
to make a quick dinner, this is the recipe you have to try.
So first of all, we're going to fry our onions in butter.
And once they're golden brown, I'm going to add my mushrooms.
My onions are nice and brown, now I'm just going to add my mushrooms.
It's going to look like they don't fit in,
but they're going to shrink in size.
Pretty much double.
And I'm just leaving them like that.
And just keep frying them for another five to seven minutes.
Yummy! It smells so good!
You can see my mushrooms are brown, my onions are brown.
All we have to do is add our flour now.
And sour cream.
So I'm going to use half a pot.
Just like that, and we'll give it a good mix,
maybe cook it for another couple of minutes and serve it in trays,
put it into trays, I mean, nearly there.
Okay, once it's all mixed in, I'm just going
to add a bit of salt and pepper.
You can use any other spices if you like, but this should be fine.
Okay, so now all you have to do is just put this in your mini pot,
whatever you're using.
I'm just going to show you one example, so just like that.
And I'm going to top it up with some cheese grated
and put it on grill until all the cheese is melted
and bubbling and it's ready to eat. Yummy!
Okay, my julienne is ready.
You can see I've plated it up with some crusty bread, some tomato.
You can put extra cheese if you want to.
It should be very, very gooey and cheesy when you dig into it.
Oh, look at that. This is a proper mushroom julienne.
It's probably really hot, but I still really want to try it.
So hungry.
Oh my god.
That is just amazing.
Amazing.
If you want to try different variations of julienne,
you can try experimenting adding
chicken or shrimps, and that will give it just
as much flavour as mushrooms.
Guys, I really, really hope you try this.
So good.
