I'm not saying that there's anything nefarious going on,
but these ballots are somewhere.
Somebody knows where they are.
Tony Giovinetti has voted by mail before, no problems.
This year, he, his wife, and his daughter
all submitted mail-in ballots.
Only my wife's was received,
and my daughter's and mine weren't received.
The NJ Division of Election shows his wife's ballot issued
September 15th and received October 16th, two weeks ago.
Tony's and his daughter's profiles show not applicable.
So you're voting by mail this year.
You have three options to drop off your ballot.
Your county board of elections,
a secure ballot drop box, or the U.S. Postal Service.
Tony chose the blue mailbox for one simple reason.
It's the closest to his home, and he's used it before.
Joe Giovinetti tells us the county is sending two replacement ballots.
So far, only his has arrived, but even that brings questions.
The first person that I spoke to at the elections bureau told me
that if I were to vote again...
That I could be arrested if the other ballot did come through.
The county clerk's office says there are safeguards
to prevent more than one ballot from being counted.
But where are the originals?
The United States Postal Service tells News 12 there have
been no delays at the processing center in Kearney.
And nationwide, USPS is committed to extra collections
and localized handling for election mail.
New Jersey has an acting Secretary
of State overseeing elections this year
after former Lieutenant Governor Caldwell's resignation.
The situation is leaving Giovinetti,
a voter in the hotly contested 7th Congressional District, uncertain.
Something could be going on,
and that just cheats me out of having my piece of democracy.
